no it has stopped charting/selling for now

it might return back to the chart & sell which depends on the circumstances

zyoeru 4th October 2009 04:34 PM

Kumi's TRICK being brought up AGAIN? lol...

NEXT LEVEL is doing great considering it's her lowest selling album yet her longest charting...modern album?

Crystal_Ageha 5th October 2009 04:32 AM

^ I doubt anybody will stop comparing TRICK and NEXT LEVEL, lol, no matter who ends up "winning" this race. It's always gonna be, "man, I wish ____ would beat it out because it's a much better album!! >,<" But I won't fuss, 'cause I've done it too... ^^'

EDIT:
I didn't realise TRICK was up to 390 now. :O I think we know who the unofficial winner is, lol... >.>

SURREAL__RAINBOW 5th October 2009 05:38 AM

yeah, i didn't expect it to outsell it all the way back during its first week sales. it has been a while since ayu outsold a koda album, but with NL she got pretty close! and since kuu is getting less and less popular, and ayu's S/S will probably wind up selling double what Alive/PT does in the end, this is a pretty good sign for the future. :D

yep. next stop female artist to outsell : Namie Amuro
ok, that one is going to be tough and probably take some time. :laugh

Crystal_Ageha 5th October 2009 10:07 AM

^ Not really. Namie Amuro tends to die out fairly fast, and then she goes away for a few years, lol.

PEARL 5th October 2009 11:31 AM

lol. i thought best albums are more of a favourite with japanese?

Yeah except that neither of them "won" the race. Superfly did. And deservedly so imo, I found both Trick and Next Level disappointing.

There has never been a time where she went away for a few years. Even in the time when her sales were low, she was already considered legendary at that point.

ayumisrael 5th October 2009 09:40 PM

Is Superfly's album is that worthable though?
I can't say anything say I didn't hear it (or any song of her yet)
What is her musical style exactly?

brener 5th October 2009 09:59 PM

I hope that due to the next shows the sales increase at least 1,000 copies... it's sad that her 10th album with four limited editions sold only 377k but it's fine that its chartlife still goin' on... I'm praying for better sales in the future :)

hippie rock :P

SunshineSlayer 5th October 2009 11:08 PM

^ Hippie rock is like the Grateful Dead or something, and she does not sound like The Grateful Dead. :)

IMO, Superfly has been great. Her style is very much classic rock and she is known for her super powerful voice. Her success has kind of been surprising considering her type of music is definitely not what is considered "in" right now. She definitely seemed like the kind of artist that might go on only having a niche appeal. I would actually recommend looking up live performances before checking out the album since it seems likely that is what got people attracted to her first.

edit: actually just found her most recent performance on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKgU37UTtkw Why am I never at Roppongi Hills when they do stuff like this?

Andrenekoi 6th October 2009 12:08 AM

^Evil Sunshine Slayer doesn't let me make fun of Superfly ;-;

SunshineSlayer 6th October 2009 12:09 AM

hahaha sorry. :) Her image can sometimes be considered hippie style. But the music is good old classic rock all the way. :)

Actually, from 2000-2005, hardly anybody cared about her at all. >_> Yes, she was legendary in the late nineties, but once bigger stars started coming in the scene (Hikaru and Ayumi, specifically) she lost her spotlight a bit. :\ Her career is a huge roller coaster. >_<'
