They did? Is that stated somewhere in an interview or something?

Apparently the colaboration is Namie, CK, and another singer, probably BENI. Still rumours though.

When _genic was first announced, the description mentioned the album will contain 80s/90s dance sounds and some other genres I forgot.

tomiko8 24th July 2015 01:36 AM

I get the concept but it honestly sounds forced aside from some songs. Feel was more consistent. Where as genic is definitely all over the place, one could even say that the execution was a bit sloppy and rushed.
I wouldn't mind a Ck x namie collaboration though ugh maybe it'll boost that poor girls popularity.

thanks!

I could do without beni on this hypothetical track, as I think namie and CK would do just fine as a duet. It could turn out to be great though with all three.

Offtopic but does anyone know where does this picture come from?

I saw in another forum and was curious about which photoshoot it was taken.

^Thank you so much!

I think BENI and Namie's voices wouldn't match easily, CK is a safer bet... But it could turn out well, something in the veins of BENI's crazy girl featuring all three would smash my repeats on iTunes

Beating myself up a little cause I was in Las Vegas over the weekend and didn't once think to listen to "LEAVIN' FOR LAS VEGAS." Not a big fan of that song, but still. Opportunity missed lol.

Lol I feel the same way with not singing Utada's Tokyo nights when I was in Japan but I did get to sing in the spotlight!! That was fun.

I uploaded that song like 4 months ago and have less than 300 views lmao, I guess people dont know that song, its a fucking jam in my opinion.

tbh rarely do I see any Namie fan, no matter what era; mention GENUIS 2000. I feel like that album is under a lot of people's radar. Even me, lol and I own the damn thing. I do love that collaboration song though. YOU ARE THE ONE?

Miduhyo 28th July 2015 01:15 PM

^ I just listened to that entire album a couple of weeks ago because I had the same thought. I was looking at all the discography I have of hers, saw that, picked it up, and actually had to think 'Whoa. Wait. When did she release this?' So then I listened to it and remembered why I forgot about it. The only songs I ever liked from it was Love 2000 and I Have Never Seen. Which is kinda sad. But there's just something about that album that just doesn't work for me.

thinkingoutloud89 28th July 2015 02:41 PM

^I think GENIUS 2000 is a masterpiece but everythime I say that I get bashed... YOU ARE THE ONE is horrible though.

I just got reminded that I own the album too lol. The single tracks on there are freaking masterpieces.

"Hit the flo', come on Tokyo!" That song is definitely an epic precursor for a trip to Tokyo.

I'm definitely fond of most songs on GENIUS 2000 I just don't think the songs grouped together work too well. It kinda drags after some point. And I agree YOU ARE THE ONE is atrocious lol.

Gustavopc 28th July 2015 08:32 PM

Off topic: When I was in Amsterdam I didn't remember of Coldplay's Amsterdam nor Imagine Dragons' :P I know the feel

On topic: Man, I forget Genius 2000 exists, the only song whose melody I recall is LOVE 2000 lol

deebosco 28th July 2015 08:57 PM

Some Namie fans that got into her recently, especially the ones after BEST FICTION,
barely talk about her works during the TK era.
Concentration 20 and GENIUS 2000 are both masterpiece.
Not that many people now remember tracks from those two albums:
Whisper, B w/z you, To-day, Still in love, Leavin' for Las Vegas..

Concentration 20 is her very first album with a large portion of electronic music.
It might sound outdated now but it was definitely ahead of most singers during that time.
Especially it is an album from an Idol. (Yes, Namie was considered as Idol in the past just like AKB48 now.)
