My Taiwanese friend subscribed to avex Taiwan's monthly e-newsletter
For W FACE ... 03/22 ALBUM 倖田來未:W FACE ~inside~ (CD+DVD) 03/22 ALBUM 倖田來未:W FACE ~outside~ (CD+DVD) Real surprised avex Taiwan are not making CD only's this time round , as compared to Kuu's last albums where they made both the CD & CD + DVDs which they did for WALK OF MY LIFE And last year , avex Taiwan only made CD + DVD for WINTER of LOVE Oh well this's better than nothing . Still surprised that avex Taiwan didn't made her Best Singles Collection DVD =x Anyway I like both CD + DVDs covers the most for W FACE so I shouldn't complain . I wonder if avex Taiwan will include any bonus item that the Japan press didn't give |

I was really curious to see the videos. Unfortunately, they're all terrible. It's really embarrassing how they shoot every single one of them in the same studio, and they're basically the same. I do like Bassline, though, because the simplicity of it really fits the song (plus, her makeup and outfit are on point there!). |
^what about a single shot and a studio makes a video terrible? I still don't get it - aesthetics, cuts and the choice of shots were pretty well for the most part aka. a good made video.
no-replay value is a different thing. edit: i listened to the album a few times now and is it only me who thinks is pretty similar to the style of Dejavu? |

^then you probably never visited an art class in school. They are pretty aesthetically pleasing - of course they could be much much better, but they look pretty nicely done, especially Insane. You now that the Crew that makes such a Video, who is there on the day of filming, the art-director and the post-production all need to be payed and you should look around youtube and look up some videos that only had like 5 dollar for shooting and you will see the difference.

So I listened to W Face -Outside- again yesterday, this time with heqdphones to see if it would make any difference and because I mostly listen to music on my MP3 player. I still think that this album is good but nothing special. W Face is a awesome start for the -Outside album but the rest is just good imo. Don't get me wrong I don't think any of the songs are bad but not as good to me as they are for some of you.
But after I listened to it a second time I found two other songs that I will listen to more offen. So my favs for the Moment are W FACE, Damn real and Heartless. Need to re-listen to -inside- again too. Can't say more about it at the moment |

We're all going to have differences of opinion on these. I would rather have had Koda push the boat out a bit and go to some locations, especially since it's been two years since her last studio album... but I really love her dancing and the general aesthetic of her style. I don't think they're too bad, but I am surprised they were all in a studio. An entertaining watch at least :laugh
I have given ~outside~ more a listen and Insane is definitely my jam. I love Bangerang and Wicked Girls as well, even though the latter is a bit more repetitive. I'll probably just edit Heartless into the ~inside~ tracklist because it does break up the sound a bit right in the middle... |
I'm finally listening to the albums and my first question is, what the fuck was she thinking sticking Heartless in the middle of all those bangin' tracks on -outside-? The only thing that song is good for is showing how far her vocals have declined...it actually pains me to listen to it.

The PVs are very basic but they have a nice production and edition. But the concepts are just too weak... Ultraviolet have a nice set and production but it's just a random choreography haha Insane have a nice styling and edition. The black&white&red is nice but it's just her standing there and looking freak and sexy. Wicked Girls is a better version of "Lelio" lol Bassline is really interesting but that hat was not the best option and it would be better without the microphone (or could be a better mic). Overall, the PVs are just fillers for the DVD imo... but still enjoyable.

Okay, so...I am in complete, utter & absolute LOVE with ~outside~ (haven't heard ~inside~ yet :P) like I haven't felt "Kuu" from her music is in a long time, until now...this is what I love! Considering I do like the current trend/theme of western music, for Kumi to have her own spin on it all, makes it even better for me. :D The only two songs I'm not really 100% feeling are "Bassline" & "Heartless"...I'm more of a fan of the upbeat/banging songs, yet, these songs are by no means bad at all! Just not fully my style. :yes But omg I love "Cupcake" more than I ever did before & I've currently got "Insane" stuck inside my head. :luv2 and "Wicked Girls", "Damn Real", "W FACE"...tears of joy, right now. tears of joy & love for Kuu. :weep :heart
I'll be watching the videos soon so I'll get back to them in a few. :cool |
The PVs are truly bad. Some people in this thread liked them and that's nice, but some didn't and that's also quite understandable.
What I don't get is why some people are bashing others for not agreeing on their opinions. |
PVs are boring and basic. They each have just one scene, and really uninspiring ones.
They can be well made but that doesn't make them good. |
I miss the days when pvs were enjoyable.

Back to the music. I still think the album sounds like an evolution of Dejavu rather than Bon Voyage or WOML. |
No others lyrics translations yet? I can't wait to read Promise You in english!

It seems they did a small press for the album, since they are restocking on most online shops.
