Kamenashi’s biggest flying stunt revealed

KAT-TUN’s Kazuya Kamenashi had been getting special training from a Chinese stunt coach to pull off his biggest flying sequence yet, it was revealed at a press conference in Tokyo on September 4, reports Sankei Sports and Chunichi Sports.

The Johnny’s talent had just finished his performance of “DREAM BOYS”, which opened on September 3, when he appeared in front of the press.

Kamenashi’s highlight performance sees him standing on a triangular swing set up five metres in the air. From there, he bungy jumps down, then spins around to fly back up. The stunt requires the performer to grab the rubber rope as they are falling down, then use their abdominal and arm muscles to lift their entire body back up, do a full 360-degree spin, and end up back at their starting point. It has been reported Kamenashi repeated this 15 times at high-speed without any mistakes. Getting the stunt wrong would leave the performer dangling in mid-air.

A special performing coach had been called in from China to teach Kamenashi the stunt. Although it would usually take a performer four months to master the sequence, an already fit Kamenashi managed to master the stunt in just 20 days. Although the KAT-TUN star has been doing flying stunts for years, he said this one was his hardest yet.

“To be honest, it’s the scariest one I’ve done so far. Before we started training, I weighed 64 kilos, and now I’m 59.2 kilos,” he said.

Johnny’s & Associates president Johnny Kitagawa had said he has hopes of taking the show overseas to the US.

“There aren’t many talents who have been able to push themselves to that extent. I think it has potential to be recognized even in America. I hope we can sometime next year,” he said.

KAT-TUN’s first variety show in 18 months

KAT-TUN will try out the latest things that are in, and depending on how well they perform, might have to endure some punishments in their new TV show, it was revealed on September 8, reports Asahi Shimbun.

Nihon TV’s new show “KAT-TUNの絶対マネたくなるTV” starts on October 18, and will centre on the KAT-TUN members as they try out things that in fashion along with a guest. There are also entertaining punishment games being planned.

It has been reported TV producers have said they wanted KAT-TUN to lead the show because they were pop stars making history, and it would be perfect to have them introducing things that would be the next big trend.

This will be the first TV show the group has had since 2010.

Currently, it has been reported the group is being briefed on how the show will run, and there are plans for on-location shoots.

“This is our first variety show as a group in a long time. I hope we can make a show where people can have fun watching us have fun, and find out things about us that people never knew existed,” Kazuya Kamenashi said.

“It’s our first show in a while, I want to put even more effort into this and make it a place where popular things begin. I want to make it a show that’ll stay in people’s minds rather than break records,” Koki Tanaka said.

KAT-TUN to host new variety show

KAT-TUN will host a new variety show on NTV, their first since “Cartoon KAT-TUN” ended in March 2010. The new show is tentatively titled “KAT-TUN no Zettai Manetaku Naru TV” and will have the members of KAT-TUN presenting people “you will want to imitate” and various goods, aiming to create new trends.

It seems that the members will be in charge of different areas based on their interests. For example, Kamenashi Kazuya will cover food and sports-related topics, Tanaka Koki will deal with music and recent hot spots, and Nakamaru Yuichi will handle new products and daily living.

Three guests on the show will determine which members presented something that “you would not want to imitate,” and those members will have to participate in a penalty game, possibly drawing on other recent trends.

Taguchi Junnosuke commented, “Our concerts got postponed this year, and the five of us weren’t able to release an album, so I’m very happy that we are able to work together on something.” KAT-TUN has been a five-member group since last July, when Akanishi Jin officially left to pursue a solo career.

“KAT-TUN no Zettai Manetaku Naru TV” will air on Tuesday nights from 11:58pm to 12:29am, starting on October 18.

KAT-TUN to MC their new variety show

On September 9th, it was revealed that KAT-TUN will be the MC for their own variety program, “KAT-TUN no Zettai Manetakunaru TV (temporary name)”, and this program is scheduled to air it’s first episode on October 18th through Nihon TV.

This is their first show in quite a while with their program that ended on October 3rd, “Cartoon KAT-TUN”. The members will give various presentations on subjects, such as people and products that other people would like to follow. They will do their best to make the products become big hits (boom) through the program. Kamenashi Kazuya spoke about their program stating, “Since this is our variety program in a long time, I am looking forward to learning something about ourselves we never knew before and at the same time, make everyone have fun. I will do my best,” and spoke of his goals through this new program.

The members will show their own field of expertise through food, sports, music, and other creations. Additionally, the three guests of this program will judge if they would want to follow it and if one of the members receives “no”, they will have to face a punishment.

Also, KAT-TUN’s Taguchi Junnosuke commented, “Since this year’s concert was postponed and our activities as a group was to release CDs, I am glad to work as five members [in this program].” Fellow member Tanaka Koki also added, “As this is our first program in awhile, I want to put all my energy into it and create the source of a craze. I want it to be a program that is left in people’s memory, not the records,” and gave a strong comment about this program. Furthermore, Kamenashi said regarding his own boom, “It is “Burasagari Kenkouki (hanging stretcher) . I stretch every morning and it feels so comfortable that I can live my energetic day. By the way… I received it from Nakamaru,” and showed their good relationship as members.

“KAT-TUN no Zettai Manetakunaru TV (temporary name)” will be on air every Tuesday from 11:58 p.m to 12:19 p.m. starting on October 18th.
