Without a smash hit preceding the album or something that will suddenly re-spark the general public's interest in Ayu's music, we'll be happy if the next studio album outsells FIVE.

Though now that I see Kaela Kimura's sales and how much has Kana Nishino dropped and the fact that Dejavu will probably be outsold or if not then nearly outsold by FIVE one has to admit that Ayu's over-all staying power in the Japanese music industry is stunning and that despite of everything she is indeed a legend who has seen many other stars rise to the top and drop like a rock to the very bottom.

imo it's because it's a mini-album and it's pretty cheaper..progress for sure attracted many new fans that usually don't support Ayu..

Honestly after the positive surprise of Love Songs I wasn't ready to appreciate a full studio album..Were you?

~X2RADialbomber~ 15th October 2011 12:59 AM

She got #1 Monthly for September? That is amazing! Never thought I'd see her do that again.

Gkone01 15th October 2011 12:24 PM

FIVE is #30 today.

ayumisrael 15th October 2011 12:26 PM

Also yesterday Mste showed her total sales for albums and singles: 49,700,000
Which means 1 more album and 1 more single (probably) and she hits 50,000,000 :D

sanzo2011 15th October 2011 04:44 PM

Hope she'll do something to celebrate that! (though i really doubt this!^^!)

:( I thought she had hit the 50 million mark already. But at least it'll happen eventually!

ayumisrael 15th October 2011 09:12 PM

She did taking DVDs into equation but in these totals achivements they count only albums & singles.

Maybe because the best dvd sellers sold 4 or 5 million of dvds in total and it's too small to insert to the achivement or maybe because it's a dvd and not CDs.

I don't think that would do anything to sales. Do people who buy her works in Japan even care who makes the songs?

No they care if they sound good and these people are basically "the" sound of AYU.

truehappiness 16th October 2011 03:39 AM

I think HAL is kind of dead though at the moment which is why we have no more HAL arrangements (at least, it's just one guy now) and BOUNCEBACK is okayish, I suppose. Their work with Ayu was amazing but their work with idol soloists/groups nowadays is kind of really bland and just blah.

Just because they had previously made great tracks doesn't mean that anything they make afterward will be just as good. I'm pretty sure that people were really NOT into CREA's last solo works. I remember loving them at the time but for many people, winding road and Humming 7/4 are some of the worst CREA work ever.
