I think candid photos like this are nice. Not posing, kinda spacing out as everyone tends to do. A glimpse of natural Ayu just being ordinary.

They remind me of old Ayu, but it is a bit odd how sometimes her face changes so much from candid to candid due to apps and so on. We do know she's been guilty of doing thing like 'airbrushing' even making ofs so that her skin is blurred out after all. (watch old making ofs, you'll see a 'tracked' spot of blurring around her cheeks sometimes)

It took me a second to recognize her. I don't think anything is "wrong" with the photo. Just that Ayu looks very different here for some reason. Maybe because of lighting, edits, shadows, angles, could be any number of reasons.
Celebrities use things like photoshop and beauty apps to "enhance" their face shape or eyes or skin because of situations like this. They know that every time they are on camera, people will be analyzing every detail of their face, hair, skin, weight, or even their breasts.

I don't know. I noticed it a long while back .. might be due to some severe lines she didn't like showing up at the time, or that she was trying to show people a 'perfect Hamasaki Ayumi'.

Beauty apps to edit faces are also pretty popular in Japan.

I think the whole entertainment world make women look perfect the whole time! Women are judged head to toe all the time. And the beauty standard for women is very high so it's hard to keep up with the media and public expectations. Imagine being judged every single minute of your day. Perfect hair, perfect weight, perfect muscles, always smiling. Humans are obsessed with perfection. And when we don't feel like we're perfect, we put expectations in someone else and start judging. And then the cycle of perfection keeps going on.

God her hair looks absolutely gorgeous there. I hope she keeps this style for a LONG time!! I can’t wait to see pictures of her with it from other angles.

What I worry about usually is that it looks like that styled for the day or two after and then it's changed to something else for the rest of her time with that hair length.
