Well, if she would be in the Kouhaku, I'd bet she would be back in the late timeslot since that's the timeslot that attracts more viewers, but most importantly, she doesn't have a CDL this year!

Would attract viewers much more than just being the 'opening act' (because of the CDLs in the past).

I don’t think it was a refusal, she just decided to stop due to CDL.
She increased the amount of CDL during the last few years, so she was very busy with rehearsals and then the actual shows.

However the way that article is worded makes it seem like Kouhaku is considering her, as opposed to her considering it. Though this could mean they just haven’t invited her since she announced she was “graduating” from it.

Um, I'm reading the lyrics to FLOWER and Ayu seems full of rage ...against us when we're annoying about her career and life choices? Honestly, AHS and her fandom probably deserve the harshness of those lyrics.

When I read FLOWER I read desperation and self-pity. But that could be because of the video. There is nothing wrong with that though. I listen to Lana Del Rey all the time, whose self-pity, desperation and sadness is her trademark. I would love to see Ayu continue that road. But with TROUBLE she seems to show more tolerance and acceptance and that is a beautiful way to view things too.

There wasn't last year either, although she did have a concert on the 31st, iirc. However it started earlier and there was no actual CDL.

Perhaps she's adamant about having CDLs at Yoyogi National Gymnasium.

CDLs are pretty common I think i Japan so maybe there's no arena left in the Tokyo area for her??

At the picture of t-shirt from tour good there is a name of venue where live was not announced yet - Tokyo International Forum. Show supposed to happen somewhere between 24 and 31 December this year. Even if it will be 31st, I think it will not be actual countdown live until midnight and will not be broadcasted. Anyway some lucky people may see ayu live at the new year eve. Will not be surprised if it will be "TeamAyu only" show. Will not be surprised if this venue was mentioned by mistake either

Would be a nice surprise and she has been more on TV this year than usual, I think there could be a real chance for this... although she seems so tour-tour-tour now so maybe the schedule won't allow it...

Only one date in hall venue, tickets will be very hard to get this time xD

It's a big hall with 5k seats though.
For comparison - two of the arena venues from her 20th anniversary tour earlier this year had a capacity of 4k and 6k respectively.
