DAI + HAL compositions would be good for Ayu's sales, but not her music. Ayu does NOT need another generic fluff song just to sell well in Japan. I think FIVE had enough of those (beloved and to a certain extent, progress). New and interesting compositions like BRILLIANTE will win out anyday, even though they won't be songs loved by the Japanese public.

Good? Hmm I always tend to like the songs that the Japanese public eats up less for some reason. I preferred GREEN over Days, GAME over INSPIRE. alterna over fairyland and so on.

Just because they had previously made great tracks doesn't mean that anything they make afterward will be just as good. I'm pretty sure that people were really NOT into CREA's last solo works. I remember loving them at the time but for many people, winding road and Humming 7/4 are some of the worst CREA work ever.

I thought Will was quite boring to a certain degree. Not as grand as everyone made it out to be. Love winding road now, it's so nostalgic sounding and bittersweet. I have never had a problem with Humming, although I can see why to some/most it would be annoying.

I don't think DAI+HAL should be considered generic, I mean, they did a lot of the Ayu classics that are just so original to her.

I prefer Days over GREEN, GAME over INSPIRE and as far as fairyland/alterna, it depends on my mood.

About BRILLANTE, to me the overall sound of the song wasn't "new" - it was refreshing to me because it sounded like something she would have released before, years ago. It has more of that "Ayu" feeling to it - maybe because it's original. But it's nothing extraordinarily out of the ordinary. The chanting is really the only thing that's out there and I would like the song better had the chanting not been included.

The chanting part it's what makes BRILLANTE a gorgeous epic song. If there wasn't it, BRILLANTE would be considered a BALLAD -part II- type of song. In my opinion, of course :yes.

I second this..the song in its complex is absolutely great but I wonder if it didn't have the chanting would we have liked it the same way? Probably not.

Well I always skip past the opening chants to get to the part when the music really begins. It's too drawn out for me.

I don't know even if it would help her sales to be sincere... Most of the time when an artist don't survive their own peak, one of the reasion it's cuz they kept releasing the same kind of stuff over and over again, times changed and their style got boring...

Bringing HAL, CREA and DAI back would only help her sales if the songs were good and if they fit this era as well as their compositions did before...

I've always thought that the chanting was tacky. Personally, it doesn't add anything to the song and what made me adore the song was her vocals.

The chanting is the main thing I love about BRILLANTE. The vocal melody itself is nothing special and without the chanting the arrangement would just be another "traditional grand ballad" with a more depressing twist.

200k! awesome sales for this mini-album

the chanting isn't so bad, but knowing timothy did it really brings it down for me (nothing against him, but i'd just rather not know, mystery is good). now i'd really rather it not be there.

Congrats for passing the 200k mark! So happy for her. I love how she is still a fairly strong seller and great quality music maker.
