still so ****ing annoyed with the tracklist.

TeamAyu2004 14th December 2012 06:00 PM

the sad part for me is that I would be completely happy if they added the 3 tracks that everyone is asking for.
evolution, JEWEL, MW

Pieces_of_SEVEN 14th December 2012 06:05 PM

^me too!!!!! I want JEWEL and evolution!

TeamAyu2004 14th December 2012 06:09 PM

i really enjoy her classical music and the only thing ~ONLY~ thing so far that upsets me is the length... I mean really??

but looking back her newer remix albums havent really been FULL have they? 12 being the norm?

isthisLOL? 14th December 2012 06:10 PM

I still don't see why people are asking for JEWEL. I find it hard to imagine a good orchestral version, the one at FNS was practically the studio version with a couple added strings that destroyed the nature of the arrangement. But I guess it's possible. I just always felt like the minimalistic arrangement was necessary for the song to work.

But MW? If we got anything resembling the PoM version I would be listening to it all day. And evolution was incredible on the last Acoustic Orchestra album.

Chibi-Chan 14th December 2012 06:23 PM

evolution should have been on the tracklist too! And 10 tracks are really a bit short, 12 would be ok.

Luvia 14th December 2012 06:26 PM

I still don't see the point of releasing a classical album now...
At this point of time? O__o while she is releasing 5 consecutive mini albums ...

It's like.. What were they thinking??

If that's the case then everything that's made into a classical version is destroying the nature of the arrangement. Especially all the requests for rock songs - come on, the badass guitars and heavy sound to those songs is what makes them so great. Not some dramatic string garbage.

I would like to hear a proper JEWEL orchestral version. I have a fan mix with added orchestra and it sounds really good, but I have always preferred the original mix because the simple arrangement works so well. So I do agree on that point, but, it would be very interesting to hear a proper classical version.

I disagree completely. I think JEWEL is one of the very few Ayumi songs where the nature of the arrangement is essential for the song to work as a whole. Most of Ayumi's rock songs have an orchestral influence already that could easily be worked with to create a fully orchestrated version that still mirrors the original feeling. It's not like her rock influence is punk or black metal.
But JEWEL is incredibly delicate and I feel like the minimal ticking beat is it's essence. The melody itself is just bland J-Ballad to me.

Like I said I do agree on that minimal ticking beat, but I do not think the melody is bland. The melody is pretty simple but that is also what makes the song so great - because something so simple turned out to be so perfect. Bland J-Ballad would be almost every Ku ballad and most recent "medium tempo ballads" Ayu has released. JEWEL's melody is anything but bland.

I am aware that most of Ayu's rock works have orchestral influences, and I absolutely love that - but they are there to enhance the feeling of the song as a whole - strip out everything else that those orchestral sounds are there to enhance and it just doesn't sound as epic.

Yeah. There is little point in making an Orchestra ver. of JEWEL as it's perfect just the way it is, still I'd like to hear it with an acoustic guitar in the back without the piano.

TeamAyu2004 14th December 2012 10:21 PM

^ I know i want it because I love hearing different version of great songs.
Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't... I just want it. lol

Andrenekoi 14th December 2012 11:31 PM

isthisLOL point is, JEWEL arrangment is so minimalistic an orchestral version of it would mostly sound the same... We had a live version of it, and it did sound almost the same.

Nope, that's not my point at all. :innocent
My point is that only a minimalistic arrangement will work with the song and therefore making a more "full" version will most likely cheapen the song down.

Though I agree with your point, too.
