I love the JPop release schedule - knowing that a lot of my favourite singers are giving me new albums every year and planning out my monthly musical purchases for the year.

I want another "happy" song like Winter Bell/Good Day. I miss those :3

Hardly a typical 3-4 year wait between albums. More like a typical Western pop release pattern. The nice thing is that Western artists compensate by making albums with much longer shelf lives, so I'd absolutely take a 2-year wait for an album that'll last me a couple months over a j-pop throwaway "guess I better put some filler on here to sell this single compilation!" album that I bore of in 2 weeks tops*.

*Not that I feel that way about Kuu. Just j-pop in general.

uhm, thats what I meant, i just gave an quick example. is not like I spent minutes in here thinking of something to say. Of course I meant a typical western release pattern and no, many of those albums are throways too.

I dont think Kumis albums (or some of other artists) are bad, I just wnated to say that it is hard for some of those fans to wait a year for new music, which i think is quite said and makes the experience a "short-lived" one.
Its like they like it for 7 days and then be like "omg gosh, that is so old already, can i have a new one".

Yet, i dont mind that pattern, since I said severeal times already, that I dont think that a good pop song/album need years of polishment. I really like that fast living J-Pop world too. Its just the phrasing of some fans regarding certain circumstances that bothers me.

I think an album every 2 years is fine, I mean you have time to produce it and then time to make concerts.

Hmmm
reminds me of this

they burn out and they put out a new one and burn out and put out a new one etc.

I think all music industries are guilty. I wonder if Japan even has catalogue albums or that some of their music is quick lil singles/albums.

Luck16 23rd January 2015 03:43 AM

When you apply this logic to idol groups like akb48 is even worse. I've seen some article somewhere that you can find millions of copies of their past singles online for like 50 cents lol

thinkingoutloud89 23rd January 2015 06:44 AM

^even worse, you can find them in trash bins right after the release....just opended and stripped of the collection-card. I even wrote that in my master-thesis.

Luck16 23rd January 2015 04:10 PM

Oh wow. I guess this just shows how disposable these idol groups are and how sad it is now to see oricon's yearly chart.

jiarongisme 23rd January 2015 05:07 PM

I wonder if she's gonna perform the LEGEND FEVER KODA KUMI LEGEND LIVE songs in the upcoming tour. Would love to see SO FEVER live.

SO FEVER is kind of annoying to me but I feel like it would make a nice mashup with Under and Black Cherry.

I'm very interested as to what kind of master thesis would mention a Japanese idol group

Earth_maiden 24th January 2015 04:21 PM

Not sure if this has been answered before, but is there somewhere that has a translation of the interlude movies for the Bon Voyage tour?

Gustavopc 25th January 2015 12:27 AM

I was re-watching Let's Party Vol. 2 and, oh Lord, that concert was amaaaazing. I hope she goes for another mini-tour in smaller stages like it this year, she always outstands so much in simpler concerts (like Dirty Ballroom also)

And my shirt and light"stick" from the first class 2nd limited live arrived this week :D :D So happy!

For the people who still waiting for the announcement: the B'z new album, which have the same release date as walk of my life, was finnally announced today. So I think this week we'll get something as well.
