oh dear

I guess Epic Records really made very few copies for the 2CDs + DVD limited edition O_O

http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=ESCL-3414

CDJapan still has 7 copies of it left at their end

Beauty4123 17th April 2010 05:11 PM

sfp got #10 yesterday, but today their not in the top 10 anymore. :( i hope their somewhere in between 11-20.

KarenPang 18th April 2010 03:21 AM

I don't know how their mini albums fared but amp-reflection should fare OK overall

considering that they didn't do any form of promo for it

Beauty4123 20th April 2010 11:26 PM

they made the top 10 with amp-reflection!! :weep

woo congrats guys :)

not sure how did their mini albums fared but congrats to their 1st ever top 10 release

KarenPang 27th April 2010 02:28 AM

I'm happy that you finally received your copy of amp-reflection , Lisa :D & yes I must admit that the packaging for the limited edition , it's really cool

probably even more cooler than A COMPLETE in a way or 2 :laugh

I like the special booklet too :luv2

Beauty4123 27th April 2010 02:32 AM

i'm really happy, too! all last week, i kept asking my mom if she got a package for me or not, and the patience was killing me, lol. but then i checked on usps.com and saw that the package arrived on sunday, so i figured i'd get it today, and i did! :P i've always wanted to own sfp's music since i discovered them, so the album was an amazing present. :D thanks again to you and your sister, karen! :shughug

speaking of A COMPLETE, the packaging reminds me of that CD. but like you said, it's much cooler! the booklet totally rocks as well :cool

KarenPang 27th April 2010 02:39 AM

lol at the back of my mind , I was thinking 'did I wrote Lisa's address wrongly on the parcel ?' :laugh cos I was suspicious on how come Eirynne received my parcel a lot more earlier than you xD

but better late than never & yes like yourself , this's the 1st sfp item that I own too :)

I know you're probably a bigger fan of the guys & girl so when my younger sister went to Japan with my mum's 2nd older sister 2-3 weeks ago + , I asked her to get 2 copies

the CD only was 'morphed' into the 2CDs + DVD limited edition because my sister said that the staff in the CD shop passed that to her so you can imagine my shock when I saw the album on my table :tired

but it's limited edition & the fact that you pretty much can't get it anymore on online sites , I don't mind :laugh

Beauty4123 27th April 2010 02:46 AM

LOL! i guess NY is farther away from singapore than california? :P who knows, haha. i'm just glad i got it eventually! :tipsy but aww, i'm happy you thought of me! i really do love sfp, so i'm so grateful to have the album! it's grown on me by now so i'm really happy about that as well. but is the contents on the DVD just a documentary talking about the album? cause i see the tracklist and then it lists the future nova PV.

lol yeah I think New York's further from California , I'm not sure though haha

yes I believe so with regards to the DVD . It's a documentary titled all about amp-reflection which I believe the band talks about the album & then the PV for future nova can be found in the disc too

& I don't think they will be getting an OS press for their stuff since they don't really have a big market fanbase outside of Japan >_<

Beauty4123 27th April 2010 02:55 AM

aww, that sucks! :( i hope they'll get more fans within the next 2 years or something. they deserve it :yes

and i'm gonna watch the documentary! should be interesting, although i know nothing of japanese, lol. subtitles would have been nice. :P

KarenPang 27th April 2010 03:00 AM

is amp-reflection their 1st ever release to peak in the top 10 of Oricon ?

how did their mini albums fared ? I assume it's quite bad ? :tired

Beauty4123 27th April 2010 03:19 AM

i believe so! i don't think their mini-albums were released on a major label, though. i assume it must have charted on some indies chart or something. but #9 on oricon is a great start for them! i wonder if they'll sell better with albums than singles.

KarenPang 27th April 2010 03:29 AM

oh

I realised that this time round , the 2CDs + DVD limited edition for amp-reflection sold out even faster than the CD + DVD's limited editions for their singles

the CD + DVD's limited editions for their singles do get out of print eventually but not as fast as amp-reflection's case

this means 2 things

- very few copies were made for the limited edition by Epic Records
- people were buying it :laugh

Beauty4123 27th April 2010 03:35 AM

sadly, i would not be surprised if the first option was true, LOL. sony is lazy sometimes.

KarenPang 27th April 2010 03:39 AM

yeah & like what I said on Twitter , they don't play mainstream stuff

I think Sony BMG was quite reducant to give them even decent promo cos their music frankly wouldn't appeal to everyone out there who likes pop mainstream material

well it's ok , it's our gain's & their losses haha :laugh

Beauty4123 27th April 2010 11:03 PM

i took a better look (i just skimmed through it really quick when i first got it :P) through the picture booklet, and OMG. such fantastic pictures of the band! i'm still so jealous of how pretty yumi is..:weep i love the dress she's wearing in the booklet too, lol.

i'm still in awe of the packaging, too, karen! :heart

Nackar_91 28th April 2010 12:22 AM

Number 9 is fine! People are forgetting that sales often also have to do with marketing! Often, with rock bands, the label wants to test the band first. If their first album does well, they'll up the promotion. VERY few groups have the same career as pop artists, who make a huge debut and then either stay relatively popular or fade away.

Take B'z, the biggest rock group of all time! Their first album didn't chart. L'Arc en Ciel started out small and indies. So did Glay. Who knows what might happen to them ^^

Of course, it doesn't really matter. What matters is that they make awesome music <3

KarenPang 28th April 2010 04:24 AM

usually in general , albums tend to perform better than singles I feel . The guys's singles's performance are OK & considering the charting jump they had from light prayer to future nova / after laughter , it's starting to look up for them in a way or 2

@ Lisa - yeah the special booklet's very neat . Very abstract & etc , just like their album/single artwork :)

aqua_crystal 29th April 2010 06:06 PM

OMG, OMG!!! You guys will NEVER believe this!! ( well, you might believe it but I still can't :P) I used to tutor a group of kids to help them pass their O Levels (Math) since I actually had the time back then and I met them again a couple of weeks ago (they all know I'm into Jpop) and I told them I really like a band called sfp and was upset that their album went of out of stock on YA. And they went and got me a copy of the album from CDJapan!!! It arrived today!!! I was in such a shock when they gave it to me, gift-wrapped in a parcel. I swear, I have never been happier!! This means my sfp collection is almost finished! The only CDs I have left to get are af,cs and fi!!

Yeah, I think none of them made it in the top 50. Maybe Riff-Rain did, but probably not.

Don't blame Sony. I bet even they didn't expect the album to do so well. Besides, its sfp's first album and considering their overall single sales weren't so great, Sony probably thought that these many limited editions would be enough. You can't blame them for trying economize! :D BUT, I hope they've learnt a lesson from all this, dont underestimate sfp!!!
