Celebrity cemetery... *dead*
Oh, Lana, just when I think I can't love you more, damn!:D

NintendoHTF1242 20th August 2013 08:15 PM

I don't mind a short hiatus or something; but as long as she doesn't stop making music altogether.

Same. Going on breaks between albums is a very normal thing to do but she if stops making music I will cry. :no

It feels a bit crazy to think that Summertime Sadness has gotten to #4 in the UK and #16 on Billboard. It's an absolutely wonderful song, but I used to see it as an album gem: the type of song that I love but which never gets released as a single or flops horribly if it does.

relmy 21st August 2013 07:45 PM

^ It's weird, especially because everyone thought it was a flop when it was released as a single last summer.

Why did it suddenly start charting now?

Cyria 21st August 2013 08:22 PM

A Cedric Gervais remix of Summertime Sadness was released to radio this summer. Right now I can't think of another time when a remix was such a huge boost to the single success of one of my favourite artists.

Summertime Sadness was released as a single in Eastern Europe last summer, where was the rest of the world got National Anthem as a single.

It may have gotten a video and whatnot, but was not sent to American radio stations.

& yes, the remix is a large factor.

NintendoHTF1242 22nd August 2013 12:59 PM

I was amazed when I heard Summertime Sadness on the radio. I can understand why they're playing a remixed version of it though. Still, amazing to finally hear some Lana on the radio.

KremlinChaos 22nd August 2013 01:53 PM

It sucks that she's getting recognition from a remix but it's better than nothing.

relmy 22nd August 2013 01:58 PM

I totally missed the remix happening, it's a shame that is what's getting her recognition. I just listened to the remix and it's... Lana doesn't work remixed.

tokyoxjapanxfan 22nd August 2013 02:09 PM

So thaaaaat's why.

The gym that I go to here in Tokyo plays American top 40 type music, and Summertime Sadness came on (the original version) and I was confused haha.

I do not like the remix though... it takes away all the sadness o_o

KremlinChaos 22nd August 2013 02:56 PM

Someone said they liked the remix better and I just looked at them like they were crazy.

marty 23rd August 2013 10:40 AM

I don't mind some good remix (and I like Summertime Sadness one), it's really interesting to see Lana's unique style mixed with others! But to say a remix is better than those glorious melodies and arrangements is madness. Lana beats everything with her background music, I never followed someone that, from the very beginning, brought this high quality and never failed to live up to it with every single release.

Refix 24th August 2013 02:17 AM

Hiatus when some people getting hype for her unreleased or leak...lmao
The SS remix is not that bad. Well yeah it lost some of the haunting dramatic touch but its not that bad.

relmy 28th August 2013 01:47 PM

I don't see the problem with a six months hiatus when there's generally 2-3 years between releases anyway in the Western market.

Cyria 12th September 2013 06:29 PM

Now Summertime Sadness is #6 on Billboard. I hope its success helps her when she releases new material.

Polyrhythm 12th September 2013 06:37 PM

No wonder I keep hearing that song on the radio....I'm just like....really? She makes it on the radio and it's Summertime Sadness? o___o I like that song though and I'm glad for her.

Young and Beautiful helped her a lot get into the mainstream; but the remix on the radio is a great way to push her further. I'm happy for her!

Mirrorcle Monster 12th September 2013 10:01 PM

Its sad she got success with a remix and not with the epic original version, still very happy she achieved success. Im waiting for Tropico, im pretty sure its gonna be one of the best things ive ever seen

George 25th October 2013 12:21 PM

Where the hell is Tropico? I need it now.
