All new material in my opinion can be embraced by fans, it's just that a lot of fans let their expectations get in the way and that ends up leading to disliking the album. NEXT LEVEL was thought to perhaps be a "next level" for her musically by some people and ended up not satisfying their interpretation of the title, so they thought she 'failed' but I think she succeeded on some level by venturing into a genre she hadn't dabbled in too much during her career. I hope people will be able to enjoy this album and not simply repeat what has gone on for the last 5 or 6 years with people declaring that this album is "her worst ever" and that "her career should be over with this release" and so on. It's just so disappointing to see fans of an artist be such downers about a new release that I sometimes wish I were part of a more positive fandom that actually appreciated whenever an artist released instead of constantly comparing everything to previous works and how much better things were in the past.

:yes:yes:yes

agreed agreed. I always appreciate her trying something..its just that some people dont see that and judge the end result immediately. Sad. For them and Ayu.

I love that she changes her style in music everynow and then, even if it means her going back to earlier sounds! I would get so bored if she kept releasing the same sound and music every year!

I also like NEXT LEVEL and GUILTY! lol I'm sure that if they had been more similar to her previews albums (specially NL), everyone would have complained as well and said things like she is not original anymore and that keeps doing the same again and again, etc. The point is that all these who want to criticize Ayu will do it no matter what.
Personally, I try to hear all the new songs with an open mind, and not comparing them to previews works (though many times it's difficult). If I like it, I like it and I don't care if it has nothing to do with appears or evolution.

I agree! I could care less if it relates to her previous style. In fact many are saying "oh I wish it was more like My Story..." Well isn't it one of the things we like about Ayu is that she is constantly changing - evolving everything about her? I LOVED. LOVED. GUILTY and NEXT LEVEL. :luv2
And still others say they want something different, "stop recycling ideas..." But I'm sure they'd be thrilled if she recycled their favorite tour/album. :rolleyes
You're right... many will critize Ayu no matter what. It's sad. :no
I am overjoyed with microphone! Not because it sounds like a load of my favorite songs mashed together (which it really doesn't), but because I love the song itself AND the fact I have an album to look forward to!

Max_ZZZ 18th February 2010 02:27 PM

honestly who cares if fans hate LOL

they wouldn't be here if they didn't think she could please them with her music
they just are being let down constantly LOL

That's how I perceived the song at first. I thought I was the only one! :innocent
But now I am fond of this "genre" of ayu music. It suits her vocals quite well. Kudos to ayu for sticking to what's best for her.

Way to go to make a statement!

Thank you! I'm glad someone bluntly stated this!

There have been occasions were I wasn't totally impressed by the whole of something, but I always knew a part of her was improving and I always had to give her the pat on the back for doing something; something new, something daring, something powerful. Even for just working so hard! I give her all my respect for wanting to try new and better things.

I wasn't thrilled about NL; I loved maybe 7 out of all 14 tracks. But I had respect for her for starting her year as an artist by trying something new. Whether I liked it or not doesn't matter, the fact is that a lot of people still loved it, and realized she could do a lot of styles of music if she worked as hard as she did on NL.

I have a love and respect for her past releases that fills my entire heart, I listen to some old songs and I feel nostalgic. Not because I miss that style of music, or there's something there that I miss, but because those have become songs that touched me in the past. I can listen to an old song and know what I was going through at that time.

In truth, a year from now I'll listen to the present songs, and those songs will be as dear to me as the songs from her older releases.

I keep on checking this thread for a more HQ CM too :yes.
