finally,i'm happy reading this and yes atm too many things stuck in her head specially busy with the preparation of CDL and yepp..her ear..so it's ok for me.she'd try her best! :yes an enjoyble performance though..

I prefer her MS performance of You were... than this one, she sounded more "shouty" this time, maybe it was the clearer sound? And what on earth was up with evolution? xD; It doesn't bother that she sounded bad or mixed up the lyrics as much as it does her breathing. She sounded WAAAAAAAAAAAY out of breath the whole time. But like she said, she wasn't well prepared.

Well at least she apologized ^^; Better luck next time, Ayu. :)

I agree... She is shouting more than singing for me. It's not pleasant at all... You can have powerful vocals / put emotion while controlling your voice as well... :no
The result: she can't sing properly evolution.
At least it's nice to see she apologized for that song.

I feel impressed she has the guts to apologize. :)

Thanks for the explanation about the pie chart.

This years best artist was fantastic. :) And so far I've only seen it in terrible quality and sound, haha. It was great how every artist did their old hits + a new song from this year. I haven't watched the Ayu performance yet cause I want to wait for high quality, but I always like it when she forgets the lyrics. :)

I second what you said about her getting gradually better and better, since she lost hearing in her left ear. She was horrible just after that, but she has recovered amazingly well :) To me it even sounds like she's gotten slightly better than before.

oooo bless ayu for apologizing it's so nice of her to admit her faults. ^^

That's another additional thing why to like her as a person without any artist relation.

Ok, I caved and watched the performance on Youtube. It wasn't as God awful as I was expecting judging by the comments. But yes, You Were was screamed through and she was out of breath through at least half of Evolution, but I was expecting way worse judging by the comments. :) She just need to stop whatever it is that she is doing that is causing her to be out of breath so often these days.

On a side note, to the best of my knowledge, this is the first time she did not close this show. Arashi both opened and closed it this year.

^In terms of success for 2009 it should be Arashi. Poor Ayu, though. But as an Arashi Fan she might be ok with it. :D

Concerning Best Artist, I'd like to watch the whole show. Did the full show, show up at Jpopsuki or other sharing sites in the past years and not just the snippets of the popular acts?

I think the sound of the mic was way too loud, covering the backvocals and instrumentals... maybe it gives the thought that her voice was too bad...

Okay, it wasn't good, but it seems that something was wrong with the sound regulation during her performance.

^ Or they could have intentionally raised the volume of the mic (or lowered the volume of the instruments) because otherwise her lack of breath support would have made it difficult to hear her. (especially in Evolution)

I think it was a Love Song Special or Happy/Sad Love Song Special. I still have the file somewhere and these few seconds are the highlight in a 3 hour show. Ayu performed "talkin' 2 myself" on that show and Arashi "Happiness", I think. First she fangirls about DJ Ozma and then switches to Arashi. :D Another nice one for the AyuxArashi Fan is a MS episode from February 2007 where Ayu sang evolution for ABest 2 and Arashi performed "Love so Sweet". Ayu is pretty chatty with Nino in that episode and he actually wrote in one of his blog entries that she's a really nice person and "easy to talk to". There you have it. :yes
