ME TOO! When I found out the the Rock n Roll circus was coming to DVD I was like, going preorder that... but then I found out that it was coming to blu-ray.l. so not I don't want to order anything till I find out the major differences!

^ I feel like she's been cutting it close when it comes to publishing finalized information for the last few releases (since the start of the 48-49-50 single trilogy). We'll definitely get all of the final DVD/ayu-mi-x info (tracklist and covers) by mid March. Maybe we'll get the blu-ray release date then, too? Or maybe they'll wait until after the DVD is released to officially announce the blu-ray launch date?

TeamAyu2004 26th February 2011 10:56 PM

UGH! Me, too!

LacusClyne 27th February 2011 06:21 PM

yeah, i don't understand why Avex teams of working style can be sooooo different.

if only Ayu's staff can be like kuu's staff and give us the info faster, i'll be very happy. I need the details!

TeamAyu2004 27th February 2011 06:27 PM

^ I think it has to deal with the building up the hype. The longer it takes for them to release info the more you want it, bla bla bla, kinda stuff.

Ayu's stuff is avex's staff, Ku's staff is rhythmzone's staff. Having said that even though they are practically one company they both do their things in different ways as far as marketing and promotion go, but yeah I wouldn't mind them being a bit faster either.

Bigtop 1st March 2011 12:17 AM

Uh oh, but I think I have another problem here...KANJANI EIGHT!!! (You Johnny's group!!!)

They're in Ayu's rights of way! Ayu will NEVER make it #1 with a Johnny's artist releasing on the same day... (And they're releasing a Blu-ray version on the SAME DAY while Ayu's later on in April! Grr you...)

TeamAyu2004 1st March 2011 02:35 AM

^ just the dvd? What group is this??

PLUS! last day in February!! less then a month to go!!

Quite a hot boyband style group from Johnny's Inc.

So........... are they releasing on the same day or before ayu? And so what if ayu doesn't make it to the No.1 spot on the DVD list? She doesn't have that record to keep.

Besides, rankings is the LAST thing I worry about when it comes to ayu. I love her music, style and personality, she can drop totally out of the charts and I'll still love her music.

Maybe it's just me, but I honestly don't get what all the hype about rankings everytime something new comes out. Is it that important, people??? :no

Yes, it is.. if you don't make money for the company then they don't want to keep you, which means less music for her fans. The more number one albums a musician has the more likely they have for staying power and what not.

Which i think ayumi will beat them at the charts... just fyi

1. Ayu has little chances of beating Kanjani8, they are after all a JE boyband, their DVDs and singles rarely sell less than hers, if it was an album, she'd beat them, but singles/DVDs are their territory
2. The position rarely reflects the amount of money someone earns, so while the sales are important, the position is not.
3. Kanjani8 will in no way affect the amount that RnRC dvd will sell.

Bigtop 1st March 2011 08:49 AM

DVDs are generally not an important factor for an artist compared to albums and singles, just to let you know...

Totally agree! to me , sales're way more important than her position on chart !

Midori-chan 1st March 2011 12:47 PM

Kanjani Eight?! Do you really think that they could be a threat to Ayu? Yes, okay, they are a JE group and I would be worried if Arashi released something on the same day...but Kanjani?

But then...I'm not interested in Kanjani and don't know how much they normally sell. But they don't strike me as the most popular of JE-groups!

Still, Ayu is HUGE! All her releases always sell like crazy, so I don't think it matters if she gets #1 or #2 or #7.
I'll never understand why people care so much about numbers. Ayu has proved countless times that she can do amazing things, so she doesn't have to do it with every single release!

Kanjani's last two singles released in 2010 were both certified Platinum (the last time Ayu's single got Platinum certification was in 2008). Their last two DVDs also had been certified Platinum, though I am not sure about their sales.

Ayu is big, not huge atm and her stuff does not sell like crazy anymore...but yeah I don't really care about how she sells atm.

Suteisi 1st March 2011 02:31 PM

She's not as everywhere and has huge as she used to be, but she's still got a good and steady fan base. I'm sure she knows that.

TeamAyu2004 1st March 2011 04:33 PM

Yeah, the fans are there and thats all the counts.

As for the early post, position DOES count. Sales are more important true, but if you are a company then you want the artist that has more number 1 albums then albums that don't even reach the top 5. A ton of people go by positions on charts. If its a number 1 seller then people want to know why and go out to buy, which adds more to the sales.

Its all in the marketing and what not.

Then explain to me why the Japanese general public isn't interested in buying Ayu's singles that always reach #1 and albums with so many #1 hits? A ton of people don't care about the charts (in Japan, where it counts in this case). The record labels care about the money they earn.

Let's say you have two artists, one who got 3 #1s and sold 10-30k with each album, or the other one, who has never reached #1, but keeps selling 100k+ with every release? Which one would you sign to your label? Now days good position on charts usually means good timing :rolleyes

I seriously disagree. This is ayu we're talking about. The girl personally selected by avex CEO Max Matsuura, and who still has a close friendship with him after all these years. The woman who has been Queen of Jpop for a decade, and still going strong. The artiste who has sold too many amazing releases with crazy sales to count. The first person who more or less everyone thinks about when we say "Japanese music industry".

Selling well is not an issue anymore. Not making money is not an issue either. ayu is one person who will never be dropped.

Let's not even talk about ayu here. I listen to many other artistes, some of whom have been releasing music for years and years, with number of singles/albums in the Top 5 less than 10 times. But they are still around, releasing wonderful music. An extreme example, look at Perfume. They have been around a decade, and only started selling really well a couple of years ago. And look where they are now, one of the strongest girl groups in Japan. If your theory of "drop an artiste if they don't sell" is true, then Perfume would have been gone long long ago, and we would have lost an awesome group.

The Japanese music industry is about people who have talent and the passion to work hard, not about some silly numbers and charts. That's my honest opinion, and I do hope people would stop thinking that money means everything.

njanjayrp 1st March 2011 05:32 PM

^ Indeed, you've summed it up really nice ^_^ Still occasionally people who sell nothing get dropped by the labels or their management finds them an alternative career. Some examples would be Ami Suzuki, Hitomi Shimatani and OLIVIA who barely even release music anymore. Ami is now an actress and a DJ, while Shimatani acts in plays and performs in bars sometimes. So even though avex hasn't dropped them it's quite obvious their music careers are going nowhere because they failed to sell :(

Misa-chan 1st March 2011 05:44 PM

^ True, though I guess it depends on the artiste themselves too. A record company may drop them or offer them alternatives, but I think it's probably up to them in the end whether they want to make the switch. I've seen many artistes who choose to continue on because their passion lies solely in music, while others like the ones you mentioned may have chosen to leave because of personal ideals and problems (the need to make money, or maybe they were ok with doing something other than sing). Who knows?

njanjayrp 1st March 2011 05:48 PM

^ it could be that too, of course they'll need money so that might be one of the reasons some of them start working in other Entertainment departments or totally switch careers. But yeah I think that it's easier when people are completely involved in the process of making music like Ayu and Hikki are for example, when you can obviously see that the record labels and the music industry don't influence their works a lot. So even if the things might not be progressing well they can always part ways with their label and continue doing what they like.

TeamAyu2004 1st March 2011 10:18 PM

But your talking about Ayumi who has been in the music business for 13 + years. She has made her place and she doesn't have to be number one at anything. But Im talking about new people.

The changes of a new artist never reaching the number 1 spot or not even breaking the top five and selling 100K + is rare. Ayumi on the other hand is almost selling her singles at 100K.

A company would rather have artist that hit the number one spot and sell tons then artist that cant break the top five or 10 and maybe over time selling 100K

My Japanese Language History professor says that the Japanese never get rid of anything! I guess that's true in music, too! I listen to some artists who made hits back in the 80's early 90's and not so much anymore and other's who have never even appeared on the pop charts and they all continue to make wonderful music. Groups usually end by disbandment more than being dropped by a label, right?

Kanzaki 2nd March 2011 03:09 AM

*GASP* WHY...HOW COME...I didn't see this before :thud

Blu-ray! My PS3 is gonna be happy :heart

douggn 2nd March 2011 04:04 AM

I always hope for ayu gets #1 but she does go up agains band groups and she has been a big hit for ages with regardless of her possition she will always pull in the crowds and the big$$$ and for how long she's been around, even in the top 10 or 5 will always look good for her, and despite ther ranking her income is more than enough to show how popular she is :P

True, girl bands usually disband when one member gets married and goes off to have a kid. The other members just continue on in showbiz, as TV hosts and stuff instead of singers. Boybands seldom disband, they usually last really long.

Lol, we just have to watch big music shows like a-nation or Kouhaku and we'll see loooooooooots of artistes we've never even heard of before, who have been in the industry forever but never made a big splash, but still happily singing. :P That's why I sorta agree with your prof, as long as their passion for music is there, record companies don't really drop people.

Yeah, I remember back in 2005 when I saw my first a-nation DVD, seeing bands like TRF, globe, Road of Major (which sadly disbanded) and other singers like hitomi and a few others who I don't really listen to make crowds dance and sing along to their songs, so you just have to grow to like stuff like CRAZY GOING CRAZY, survival dAnce, DEPARTURES, feel like dance, Japanese girl and a few others xD

Just for note, considering the post u quote, it may seen like TRF, globe and hitomi are "we've never even heard of before, who have been in the industry forever but never made a big splash", but them (don't know about Road of Major) were all in the top of the game some years ago^^

^ I didn't mean it like that XD They ones sold like mad and then just stopped selling xD Road of Major never hit it big though :)

LacusClyne 2nd March 2011 05:20 PM

that's a thing i like about japan music industry, the not-so-selling artist can be still around AT LEAST within 5 years after their debut, it should have something to do with their huge market.

In a record company, they should be artist who sell well and some who sold very little, like Ayu/kuu/hikki with their steady sales, so even if the company has a few artists whom aren't selling, at least the company has earn enough and don't make a loss in the end, so they can to stay.
well... that's what i think anyway

That makes sense.

But sometimes I wonder with things like PVs, sometimes when artists get a very large budget does it come out from what the artist themselves earned for the company over all or does it come from what the company itself earned from all the artists over all...?

njanjayrp 2nd March 2011 09:15 PM

^ I guess we'll never find that out, but I'd like to know as well. Same goes for tours though I guess they have sponsors for those...

YAY! Not one - but TWO releases on Blu-ray for Ayu on the same day! Surely paying over 7,000 yen for each is really expensive... (That's going to equal $200, including shipping - and it's best that you need a 3D set, especially for the Arena Tour 2009 3D...)

Most blu-players can be updated to play 3D and most will display it in 2D using either the left or right eye video feed if you don't have a 3D TV.

I know that without the 3d dvds convert to regular blu-ray.. without the player.. or at least i think thats what the guy at best buy told me...

truehappiness 3rd March 2011 04:10 PM

The concert is probably extremely huge due to being in high definition. Plus the extras may also be in high definition as well.

AT10 will not be in 3D, but AT09 is. If something is going to be in 3D but you don't have a 3D TV, it'll just show as high definition/HD and not in 3D on your TV. Not a big deal.

The encore is part of the concert, haha. I don't think they would skip over that. It's weird that the information at her site is not the same as the information at CDJapan or other retailers though.

Kazeyomi 3rd March 2011 05:44 PM

OMG it will be release a day after my birthday! Why have I not a PS3 or a blu-ray player? :| Gosh would be a perfect birthday's gift lol.

SKYia 3rd March 2011 07:11 PM

I wanted to preorder now but I'll wait for the explanation, I hoped for more extras not less, hopefully everything is the same as on the dvd.

TeamAyu2004 3rd March 2011 10:49 PM

Aww. so much information at once! lol :thud

Ayumiko 4th March 2011 03:21 AM

I want the bluray version but HMV lists it as 2 discs. I hope they made a mistake.

TeamAyu2004 4th March 2011 04:07 AM

^ is 2 disk bad?

truehappiness 4th March 2011 04:17 AM

2 discs would mean that the Blu-ray is just the concert with no MCs or making of footage/special screens. OR it could mean that they split the concert up and they fit the majority of the concert onto the first disc with the encore/etc. and extras in the second disc.

I wish the official site hadn't messed up/goofed with their description because they made it seem like the contents of the Blu-ray will in fact be the same as the DVD.

truehappiness 4th March 2011 11:04 AM

Mmm! It has been fixed!

http://www.avexnet.or.jp/ayu/jp/disc...x.html#0420_02

The site reads that the extras are on the disc 2 and the entire main concert is on disc 1! YAY!

Luja. 4th March 2011 11:21 AM

That's how it should be, there's no reason for there to be a 3rd blu-ray disc. I can't wait to see Ayu in supreme HD *-*.....

yaaap! hahaha finally

but sadly is the same show found on the DVD :/ i wish it had alterna

truehappiness 6th March 2011 12:07 PM

http://www.amazon.co.jp/exec/obidos/...F0CRG/r571-22/

The runtime for the Blu-ray is expected to be around 280 minutes, or 4 hours and 40 minutes total.

AT09's runtime for all three DVDs (concert + encore + MCs/extras):
DISC 01: Approx. 87 mins
DISC 02: Approx. 74 mins
DISC 03: Approx. 60 mins
Total: 221 mins - 3 hours and 41 minutes

I'm guessing the additional hour is a combination of more MCs and a longer concert.

Suteisi 7th March 2011 02:06 PM

So then I guess I will be loosing some 4 hours of my life watching Ayu in glorious HD! +w+

Saw the cover from the ayu-mi-x 7 thread. Not liking it a single bit. But oh wells, at least the concert is awesome (from the reviews).

From what little I've seen here or there it looks like her best concert yet!

hmmm... shuya segment ??

Misa-chan 8th March 2011 04:08 AM

・All MCs (40 episodes)
・Making-of movie
・SHU-YA’s tweets
・Tomo-san’s 7 Transformations

There's also an additional track #13 called memories in the main concert segment.

YESSSS. Now the chances of watching alterna and making of Love is higher. XD

Stupid question: Who's Tomo-san?

Luja. 8th March 2011 03:48 PM

^ "making of Love"? :laugh
I can't wait to get the blu ray, I want it so bad.. even though I guess I won't be able to afford it in the next weeks :/

Aderianu 8th March 2011 04:21 PM

I wonder what is memories

this is about dvd or bluray or both versions?

truehappiness 8th March 2011 07:14 PM

The Blu-ray has those extra contents in the second disc.

And I wonder what "memories" will be... maybe there was a special video looking back on the tour at the final concert? It seems a bit weird for that to be after Virgin Road though...

And Tomo might be Tomonari Yoshihiro, one of her keyboardists. I think that the making movie for the whole thing could have some clips of meaning of Love/Last Links/alterna! (Or the MC segments for the encore songs)

Mirrorcle Monster 8th March 2011 07:32 PM

memories could be just an interlude video

nope, they would state clearly if that was it, hope interludes are there, still cannot forgive ayu for not including the gorgeous-open-shirt-Maro interlude from AT09 :|

so hoping for meaning of Love/Last Links/alterna

truehappiness 8th March 2011 07:47 PM

The weird thing is that memories isn't a part of any of the AT10 recaps, most of which include the interlude videos in the lists as well.

After Virgin Road, apparently there was a small reference to a bride/groom and then it led straight into whatever was before Don't look back. Was anyone at AHS at the final show in Yoyogi?

I'm pretty wtf'd at the interlude videos only being present directly in the concert disc. Does this mean we won't get high quality versions of just the screen videos? I always love those and I hate when they exclude one of them for w/e reason, or exclude them (in full) entirely a la AT07.

SKYia 8th March 2011 08:11 PM

same here about the interludes, they were often PV quality in case of storyline and visually even better then many of her PVs, AT05 before GAME interlude with Mitsu is my favourite, I was so dissapointed when she missed few at AT09 (esp the half naked Maro .____.)

both

here is 'pre-Don't look back' instead of 'memories'

SKYia 8th March 2011 10:33 PM

meh, that's the setlist, thought it's written in bonus part, lost hope for bonus songs :|

I'm assuming this is BOTH. However, I'm going to say that the first disc of the two-disc Blu-ray set is the entire concert, using a dual-layer Blu-ray disc, which can hold 50 GB (that's a lot - just about enough for a full concert in HD!!!), and I'm going to assume the second disc may be single layer, or they use dual layer again...

If someone uploads this to JPopsuki, I'm estimating up to 75 GB, which is quite too much for me.

aura~ 8th March 2011 11:52 PM

I was at 7days!

there isn't more songs! It's just an interlude (one I loved!!) with all the dancers before don't look back starts~ Virgin road ends and that interlude starts ^^ And it's not an iterlude video, just with dancers... though at the end Maro and Kazuma play a bit with the screen, I loved that part!

in fact there wasn't any interlude videos like the ones in AT08 for example...

The one before BALLAD was pretty simple, "solitude" (a picture of midoringu, shuya, maro and Ayu)...
The intro video wasn't a story either, just scary freaky ayu faces...
Before countdown it was some dancers with taiko...
THE CABARET is Peco, princess and Go-mi sing and acting show, and no screens because they put the red curtain back.
After sexy little things there was a screen video with ayu and the dancers in that part costumes, but not an story.
And jump wasn't a clip either~ Aki and 2-yan dancing like in a battle and yoko and peco shouting JUMP! xD that's all!

But as I said sometime ago, the screens were part of the performance... rather than telling a story ^^

TeamAyu2004 9th March 2011 12:04 AM

Maybe any Blu-ray player will do. I know that Japan is in the same region as the USA and Canada, so any Blu-ray player for Japan, USA and Canada are OK, but I'm not sure for Europe...

When it comes out, for anyone in Europe with a Blu-ray player, could someone test it out to make sure that it's compatible? And for Americans (or Canadians), another person living there?

TeamAyu2004 9th March 2011 01:08 AM

Oh, really?? I didn't know Japanese blu-rays could be played on American players.. good to know!

Yeah I know!! This year's interlude videos were seriously top-notch, they fitted the concert super well.

Well...here's how: like DVDs, Blu-ray discs also have their own region codes, but how they coded seems to be an advantage compared to DVDs, when in America the region was region 1, while in Japan, it was region 2.

Here are the three regions: (map reference: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fi...s_with_key.png)
  • Region A/1: The Americas (except Greenland; this means it includes the USA, Canada and Mexico, as well as the rest of North and South America), and their dependencies, East Asia (except mainland China and Mongolia; this means it includes Japan), and Southeast Asia.
  • Region B/2: Africa, Middle East, Southwest Asia, Europe (except Belarus, Russia and Ukraine), Australia, New Zealand, and their dependencies.
  • Region C/3: Central Asia, East Asia (mainland China and Mongolia only), South Asia, Eastern Europe, and their dependencies.

memories is not a interlude video~ as I said before an upbeat track before don't look back with dancers.

And yeah... I think that Tomo-san thing is him, cause everyday in the 7days he appeared with a different disguise or sth like that XD hilarious XD

But I wonder what's de Shuya thing... he didn't appearen in the MC's..

LacusClyne 9th March 2011 04:21 AM

Aura, I think it's from the regular show. Coz everyone was calling him 'avatar' during may's show.

TeamAyu2004 9th March 2011 04:52 AM

OKay, so i bit the bullet and bought the blu-ray! and since I can watch it on my ps3 that is going to be supper awesome!

The thing about that is that the section before Don't look back was titled "PRE-Don't look back" by Ayu (choreography teacher entry) with no mention of anything called memories. Was it renamed or something? I guess we'll see when the DVD comes out at the end of the month though I'm pretty sure it is just that dance section you mentioned.
