There won't be for this single. The Janken single with the team songs had 3 types + theater, this single only has 2 types + Theater which equals= 5 songs. Three of which are confirmed to be the main A-side, UG A song and UG B song. That leaves two unknown B-sides which could either be MINT, Team Kenkyuusei, Team 4, or perhaps another PIGG Unit.

Since they're basically repeating all of last year's concepts though this year's Janken single has a good chance of having Team songs. Hopefully so, because ALIVE, Love Jump, and Kuromi to Dialogue were just so :luv2 and it'll be great to finally hear something from Team 4.

Going by the typical marketing practices of Idol groups, they would definitely go with 4 versions: one for each team and the theater would have a Kenkyuusei song. Maximizing the money milked from fans. :laugh Considering shonichi was put on Namida Surprise! after B's 1st original stage and SKE's Banzai Venus had a song for KII, I'm thinking the chances of a Team 4 song being on an upcoming single are pretty good.

Team 4 has gotten their 1st Stage! It will be a revival of H1: Boku no Taiyou and starts in October.

It sounds really good. I'm definitely sad it isn't another Beginner, but it seems somewhat like RIVER and a bit mysterious. That video looks like crap though. I hope it's just showing the dance version or something.

Yes the song sounds really good and something a little different.
But those costumes are just not flattering at all. I hope to see other scenes in the PV.

I think the song is cool. Mysterious and definitely as close as they're going to get in terms of sounding like their former, DefStar sound (my personal preference). However, it just feels so.....weak? I'm talking about the instrumental. Bland. The outfits are really beautiful. They look more mature.

There have to be other costumes because Sae Miyazawa posted a pic ofthe PV recording and they were wearing some kind of "wild" outfits

I doubt JKT will be doing any of AKB's stages. They said the group and their music will be tailored to Indonesian language and culture so I'm assuming they'll be starting from scratch rather than recycling stages/songs.

I got Tomochin's last year and totally love it. :luv2 I was thinking of getting either Miichan's or Mayuyu's this year though since their last calendars were really good and among my favorites. But now that Mariko finally has one I'm totally torn. Guess this time I'll wait til I see the covers/scans before ordering.

I really want Sae's this year, unless the group one has bonuses again.

So many good options...I'll need to look at all of them and then decide. Naturally leaning toward Takamina, Tomochin, and Maririn's though.

More interesting news regarding the calendars: This year they will be doing one page B2 poster calendars for every single AKB48 member. Senbatsu, Team 4, Undergirls, Theaters, the whole shebang. These will be priced at around 980Y.

And the solo calendars that were previously announced are actually 2012 Tokyo Date calendars that will be 30x30 cm and can either be used on a desktop or a wall. This is important to note since calendars are usually handled by a girl's agency, these are obviously something from AKS which means there's still more to come! Members like Tomochin, Acchan, Takamina, etc. will probably have about 3 different calendars this year! :thud

So yeah, we have a LOT of options this year it seems. :tired

I'm looking forward to tomorrow Janken tournament, it will be screen live in Singapore's theatre, I had gotten my ticket!!!

I'll be rooting for Takamina! She deserve to be in the center soooo much!

I'm glad they changed the concept since putting frontgirls in the Gumi are the reason I don't like SKE and NMB's Aka/Shirogumi. The B-sides are the only chance girls who can't possibly make senbatsu have to shine. Putting in senbatsu members automatically eats up all the focus and it's not like we don't see enough of them in the main A-side and during promotion.

The tournament's starting in a few hours... looking at the brackets, some major upsets and crazy shizz is gonna go down.

Single would have been perfect for me had Lemon, Mayuyu, and Nacchan made it but have to agree the overall senbatsu is a lot more underwhelming than last year's. :-/ Mariko and Miichan are the only positions I'm happy about.

Oh and the single drops December 7th.

I'M SO HAPPY I COULD CRY! Finally Mariko's center! I wanted Takamina, but honestly I think this is just as good. She really deserved it. I really hope the song ends up being amazing. I don't expect it to be since it's the janken single, but it'd be amazing if it ends up being sexy to fit Mariko. I think she did it really well in Beginner and Kurumi to Dialogue.

So happy with the results. Every girl I hate got eliminated (Yui, Sashi, Ishida, the lemon person).

I almost had a heart attack while following it live though....after Ucchi lost to Sashihara. Was freaking out. Overall, love the center, love how the senbatsu is looking. Couldve had more TAKAMINA or Myao but oh well.

I think the song's amazing. It will definitely sell over a million. Their peak DEFINITELY isn't over yet, thankfully. Too bad the video blows though...

The real test I think will be come February since the Sakura singles of the past two years sold a massive amount compared to the October singles of the previous year and seem to determine how the rest of the year's sales will look like.

The song is meant to bring relief to Japan much like Momosu's Love Machine (their highest selling single), it'll definitely break a million for no other reason than that.

AKB48 will be getting their own anime. The series focuses around a group of 9 aspiring idols who are aiming to become "legendary idols" like this group of famous idols that are based off the Top 8 in senbatsu (Acchan, Yuko, Yuki, Mariko-sama, Mayuyu, Haruna, Takamina, and Tomochin). *At least I think so, the translations I've come across are a bit inconsistent so it's unclear whether the aspiring idols are the ones based off of Kami8 or different characters entirely.

All of AKB48, SKE48, and NMB48 will be invited to audition for the roles of the original characters. 30 will be selected from the initial audition and then narrowed down to 9. The nine selected will become the Seiyuu Senbatsu of the series, will voice the 9 main roles, and also sing the main theme song. The anime will debut this coming Spring.

So basically, the only thing I'm hoping comes from this is that girls like Nakayan and Airin make the senbatsu. This is totally their thing and of course, since it's specifically an AKB48 anime, it'll get them a lot of attention. I will not be pleased if none or very few of the actual seiyuu in the xxx48 family get in because they were passed over for more popular girls who couldn't voice act to save their lives.

As much as I loved the girls who voiced for the ICE anime they are probably not the best the group has to offer though they did a pretty good job. Some of the girls have really nice speaking voices so I'm really looking forward to this!

^No. The Idols that the 9 main leads are aspiring to be like are based off the Top 8, they're not the same characters.

Besides, a proper audition gives a equal chance to other girls (particularly the aspiring seiyuu in the xxx48 family whom some aren't really popular) to participate in a new subunit/project instead of the usual: "pick girl we wanna push" "pick Top senbatsu member" "add some upper undergirls", put them together and see what turns out.

Can't say I agree. I LOVE Kaze as a song, but the video was so...meh. The non-dance version was so messed up. None of the b-sides are doing it for me either; Vamos is especially annoying. Maybe my expectations were too high after RIVER and Beginner being the Fall singles of the past two years. At least there's the Maririn single coming up next.

Originally, it was to be "Hashire Penguin" but since the song didn't fit her, they wrote another one and gave "Hashire" to Team 4 to be the Theater ver. B-side. The PV is showing at a handshake event and apparently has a school theme.

Yeah, Mariko is awesome enough that they'd scrap the A-side, change the concept and have the single named for her. :D

The title suggests to me that she'll probably be a teacher or in some position of authority but yeah Maririn single FTFW.

EDIT: Yeah, it's confirmed that Mariko is indeed a teacher and Sayaka is a gym teacher. And for some reason Harunyan has a red dress on.

I think it's to represent Nyan's red Janken dress that she wore for both tournaments to make her lucky. Which it did xD

When I first saw this I though that Mariko named song is a little bit too much but now I think she deserves it after years of being in shadow of Oshima and Maeda

Bad photoshop aside, I like the concept. The red/pink Type A cover is definitely my favorite. :)

I heard the preview for Ue kara Mariko and I think Chance no Junban (albeit a big generic) is still the better song....I really like the Penguin song based on the preview though...I wish they kept that as the main song instead of giving it to the pseudo-Team 4.....

I love the covers! Yeah, the photoshopping is definitely awful, but Mariko looks ****ing amazing and since she's easily the first thing to catch your eye when you look at them, I don't mind the other girls so much. It's just too bad the song is typical as all hell, even more so than CnJ. I'm hoping it grows on me from meh to whoa, like Flying Get did.

What bugs me is that Sayaka is younger than Mariko but looks older. All the cutesy stuff makes her look really out of place. I love her maturity, but it doesn't suit the AKB image sometimes :no.

Thoughts on the PV preview:
-Still disappointed in how unfitting the song choice is for Mariko
-Really plain PV, with janken of course once again put into the plot (not like CnJ's PV had one)
-Ew, get Shizuka out of there; she's gross
-I love Ami, but she looks just plain fug in the close-up shots

That's about it. AKB has a way of consistently disappointing me when I expect great things, and surprising me when I expect the least. I have a feeling the next single will be greatness, since I'm really not expecting much, with it probably being the February release after all.

Unfortunately, the 16 members selected for the lead song ("Ue kara Mariko", and the covers) were done by a "janken" (rock-paper-scissors) tournament (did we talk earlier?), and those girls, I think, were eliminated before reaching the final 16 that would end up as the 16 girls to be leading the single...
