Let us stick to the music, guys. Because frankly, it's interesting to see the amount of debate that leak has caused, and because I'm always behind everything that goes on, I FRIGGIN CAN'T FIND THE SONG ANYWHERE. If anyone has a link or the actual rip itself, I'd be super grateful.

emi♡ 9th August 2013 05:30 AM

I don't care for a lot if things about her, but I have appreciation for her vision and scope. Its beyond other people.

tbh sometimes I think, that if I was a pop star, people would say the same **** about the things I did.

Anyway, also want to find the song. I didn't look that hard though lol I'm very weary of a title like "burqa" though. If it has the wrong message, it will suck.

SURREAL__RAINBOW 9th August 2013 10:28 AM

Go on tumblr and it will be there for sure lol

Here's a link to the song. It's the little box just before the lyrics:

enjoy :)

Minttulatte 10th August 2013 11:32 AM

Well, I've been wondering why Gaga haters always bash her here but I can only give one reason for the hate. Too much expectations for every release and I don't get it. As much as I adore Godga, I got no expectations for any of her releases that were released and are yet to come. That's how life is happy. I got no expectations for any artist I listen to. If I did, I would only listen to Final Fantasy XIII's gorgeous soundtrack because I hated other music. So imo everyone should just throw expectations out of the window. You might be surprised at how amazing everything sounds after that. :D And that's all I'm gonna say about this.

Btw, if someone actually wants the actual mp3 rip of Aura, I got it. I can send it to people via PM if you want. :)

Kanzaki 10th August 2013 03:04 PM

Thanks for the link, zaturna.

That was very different. In most ways, good. I'm not going to give it any in depth review, I doubt anyone's interested in reading that, and I don't know what I'm talking about anyway. I don't dislike it, but I wouldn't play it all that often, tbh. There's too much build-up and not enough of that 'oomph'.

I love how it has sparked debate on the internet though. Things that make people upset are kinda nice from time to time - it makes me think we all don't just sit down with every little issue sorted into boxes labeled 'right' and 'wrong'. There are grey areas out there, and it's good for everyone to really think about them. The fact that people get upset means that they care.

Do I really have to wait for my birthday for this album, damn. Want moar!

Delicious n Bold 10th August 2013 06:20 PM

I'll set the bar low for applause.
Maybe I'll become a born again avid listener. But not fan. Being known as a monster is not worth it.

Poor Gaga, she's getting so much hate everywhere, even her fans are killing each other... And from the leaked parts of Applause it sounds pretty average, nothing to freak about lol

koumori 12th August 2013 03:40 PM

I feel bad that the single leaked. Some are saying it's a publicity stunt by Gaga's team, but I guess people will say anything is a stunt lol, so I don't know what to think. Decided to wait until the 19th to listen to Applause, but only because I'm really not that excited. I've been looking forward to more music from her but now it's here...I could have waited a few more months. :shrug

Hopefully her PR leading up to ARTPOP will hook me back into the hype. :)

The chorus is everything but the verses though...

So predictable of her though, to release it the same day Katy Perry released her single. It's actually funny.

KremlinChaos 12th August 2013 07:47 PM

I think it's much better than Born This Way as a lead single.

ComatoseBunnySnatcher 12th August 2013 08:08 PM

I like it :)
But she's so pretentious I can't stand it. She seriously drinks her own kool-aid. And nice one, Gags... she always leaks things when others drop a single or something. Someone on ONTD counted ad she's done this 11 times >.>

It's been so long since Gaga released a song I didn't feel like killing myself after hearing. Such a relief. I hate that clip which ended up being the pre-chorus (I live for the applause, etc.), but the chorus is pretty good. I am also a fan of the arrangement, it sounds somewhat videogame-ish.

THE NEW ARTIST

This is the me I was most afraid to ever be again. The me I’d left behind. Through the work, each time over and over with Inez and Vinoodh, there is a challenge I am facing with myself. The person they want to see is dead, I think. I have an ability to endure physical and mental pain for long durations, months or years of time. But I’ve learned that eventually the brunt of that anguish finds its point of impact, and although I was able to withstand a challenge for that period of time in my youth, the results were destructive. I was left a shell. Why would I ever want to feel that again? And then a bigger question: Does anyone really know what I went through to get here?

Then somehow, with Inez’s seductive artistic way and Vinoodh’s calm sense of confidence, in the process I am inspired to allow the emotions to pass through me as they photograph me. And then I hear “Beautiful, Gaga! Yes! Yes! Look at that girl!” And I’m reminded that my sense of self within the world I create provides an element of honesty and gravity to the work. And it’s okay that I’m broken. I can be broken in the Cubist or Surrealist sense. Like a Picasso nose, or a Dalí clock—ahead of its time, not pathetic or shameful. Plus I’m wearing a custom Saint Laurent sequined jacket from Hedi Slimane. Impossible to be sad!

PHASE ONE

I see this girl as the first incarnation of me. Of Gaga. The Bowie superfan, playing with glitter and reflective materials, like doing a jigsaw puzzle. How can I paint with this palette in a way they’ve never seen? How can I remain loyal to my glam roots and soar with an artistry that is still forming? I have always felt comforted in my ability to learn as a performer. When I care to no longer learn or research, I am then an occupant of my own ego. Bowie is a scholar, and it is this part of him that I’ve kept with me. If I allow myself to really delve into and analyze the thing I’m making, I feel a sense of control. A sense of belonging. I belong because I must create. I must transform. And I must believe that my ability to evolve is infinite.

DONATELLA

There are very few people I’ve met since my debut that have truly become friends. Donatella Versace and her daughter, Allegra, occupy a space in my heart so wide, with their ability to love and give. Donatella was there for me in difficult times, and for that I will never forget her. She took the girl sobbing with tissues into Gianni’s apartment. Tears falling on the floor, champagne pouring, she escorted me to his room, where she left me to play with his books and sketches. I studied the notes and drank and smoked until I could barely see. Running around the house with her and Allegra as she said, “Never cry, Gaga! You are a star, a REAL star!” And this cover commences the newest transformation in my long love affair with Versace. Donatella opening the Gianni archives for me during the campaign for my album Born This Way was just the beginning of a dream that seems to never end. And today it’s c-thru plastic, with my custom shoulder, Medusa pins, and a wrong blonde. Donatella approved.

THIS IS ARTPOP

In this custom Balenciaga, I felt full passion, and fearless, like my hair and body were on fire. I am preparing for my workshop with Marina. I am so excited. She will starve me in the woods for days, with no clocks, no speaking. Cleansing me before my first performance on stage and beginning my training for a performance piece in Paris we are doing with Robert Wilson. I told her I wanted to reveal my total creative self to her. With complete trust, openness, and freedom to be an artist, instead of “making” or “designing” for the public to love. What I am is enough. My talent is enough. But the wigs and the makeup, I need them, I tell her—and she understands that. Marina understands my art, and in my understanding of her art we have made an exchange. When an exchange occurs between two auras, there is a formation of trust and an impulse of love—perhaps…we could belong together. ARTPOP!

But this is not my “look” or “reinvention” for this album. I will be all of these women forever. I am a shape-shifter, a pop-cultural magician. I am not just one ICON. I am every icon.

tokyoxjapanxfan 19th August 2013 05:46 PM

I think I'm tired of the self indulgence aspect of her entire...image? Self indulgent, self obsessed, etc. It's just not appealing to me anymore...

I mean the entire song is about living for the fanfare. And how she's so iconic and how she's now at the center of pop culture. It's literally just her singing about her, lol.

Sure there might be something I'm missing, but at least on the surface...that's what I'm getting from it.

I do enjoy the mermaid-esque shots. And I don't dislike the song, it's just...I don't know. I think I just miss the Fame era. (which was also self indulgent, but...she was still fresh haha.) I'm still anticipating the album though.

ComatoseBunnySnatcher 19th August 2013 06:01 PM

^ I think it was over-indulgent back then as well, but more like she was parodying(?) the behavior that stars usually show.

She's singing about how the Applause from her fans kept her going even when she was physically struggling. This song isn't about fame.

Delicious n Bold 19th August 2013 06:23 PM

I like the video. It's weird but it isn't overbearing.

tokyoxjapanxfan 19th August 2013 07:03 PM

Well I didn't say the song was about fame, just that it was self indulgent. But I guess you could argue you can't have fans unless you're famous lol.

And it's not really just the song that I'm forming my opinions on. Her whole -I am art- standpoint is also included in my opinion.

But like I said, these are just my feelings towards the song/her right now.

SURREAL__RAINBOW 19th August 2013 07:10 PM

I know what you mean and I felt the same way before the song even came out (when she was walking around naked and acting weird in that artsy video), but isn't it the same with almost every j-pop and k-pop artist/group?? Namie, Ayumi, Koda... they all depend on their image and self indulgence to sell whatever they are promoting.

I guess I don't mind as long as Gaga releases good music, I loved the video and that's good enough for me right now.

And btw, Gaga looked fucking hot in GMA, so classy and just beautiful, I was amazed.

George 19th August 2013 07:31 PM

^ She looked so gorgeous there.

Her whole pretentious-art-shtick is really self-indulgent.
"Pop culture was in Art
Now art's in POP culture in me."

Need I say more? I think she genuinely believe that by saying what she does is an art , it automatically elevates it to an art form.

It's a turn off but whatever I like the song. Lol. I just try and ignore everything else.

Her new song is decent...

Although I personally do not care for Gaga's currently over-the-top image, I just can't help but admit that she's one of the most talented artists today; and she can actually sing. Someday, I hope she will see that she can be amazing without all the clown makeup. While impressive, her theatrics are kind of getting stale. I want to see more of the Lady Gaga who was releasing hit after hit earlier in her career and silencing doubters, not the one who keeps making the front-page for some bizarre outfit.

emi♡ 20th August 2013 02:52 AM

I FINALLY listened to this song lol with the video. I was putting it off soo much because I really didn't want it to be some...Born this way anthem with a horrible video type thing.

And I'm soo glad it's not.

I really appreciate the mix of mainstream edm with the 80s vocal elements, the goth metal type verse in the beginning that she likes to do a lot, and her Annie Lennox little runs later on! That part is my favorite.

I'm also happy with the chorus. Like I said, I did not want an anthem type thing, and yey. It's not like that. I love it.

The video is fun, which is nice. I miss fun her. I think she looks awkward sometimes, but I also think it's because she shows so much of herself. I also, always appreciate her androgynous imagery.

About her self indulgence...the only reason why I put up with it, is because I really believe that pop music (and mainstream pop music) is an art form, and I don't think anyone gives it enough credit. It's always hard to get the masses to wrap their heads around abstract theories, but I think Gaga makes this message REALLY accessible, and that is one of the HARDEST things for any artist to do.

You can be the best painter in the damn world, but if you can't get people to see your perspective, you'll fail. Art is a two way street, with a relationship between the artist AND the viewer. If you're an artist, and not giving a shit about that relationship, you're just masturbating with your own ego every time you create something.

I remember admiring Gaga for this when The Fame Monster came out. I felt like she had this great balance. BTW pushed me a little bit to where I felt she was getting a little too into herself....but I hope that this era brings us back to that relationship with people today.

We look back at mainstream music and see it as the voice of generations.

Gaga gets people to pay attention and listen to her. She has a fluffy, simple message that pop music is art...but people need that.

idk why people are complaining about her image either lol It's not like she's going around in an egg or something.

random thing I noticed, I like her hips. She's really...skinny to me, like not my ideal for a female...but I think she has nice curves there. She looks really nice in the lingerie shots~ I love the hipster short.

Applause MV is just so gorgeous and artistic to me♥ I love her natural look. :)

Not gonna say anything about these ridiculous AUDIENCE/Girl Gone Wild comparisons because all that makes me lol so hard. :D

Gaga's image under fire again? LOL. Oh well, at least to me Godga's style has always been amazing. She's unique and artistic to me. That's all. :)

I really liked her representation of the birth of Venus.
That's probably the only thing memorable about the video for me. Not even the shock value swan interests me.

The swan was funny. Reminds me of beetlejuice.

I'm listening to Born This Way and I remembered how much I love Bloody Mary.

It's my favorite song from the album, I was playing it today too. It's so dark and beautiful.

I still love highway unicorn. It's an inside joke thing.

Bloody Mary is definitely one of my favorite songs on Born This Way too! :) It's so creepy I can't stop loving it~ ♥

She's still rising on iTunes US, little by little. I hope she doesn't fall until the VMA, 'cause that's her chance to get that #2 or even #1.

Dream 21st August 2013 07:04 PM

New info:
- She's playing 6 new songs on iTunes Festival (I think including Applause) on sept 1st
- One of them is meant to be the continuation of Telephone, she re-confirmed that she really will do it
- Azealia Banks is not in the album

Delicious n Bold 21st August 2013 08:46 PM

Is the telephone thing 100%? Best be.
We all know that lady gaga isn't always truthful.

Listen to the interview, she said it's coming for SURE and she'll play the song in the iTunes festival sept 1st. I'm so glad we will have the chance to hear 6 (or 5) new songs. I hope she releases the one with best reception as promo single for the people who per-ordered the album on iTunes.

Im so excited about Telephone continuation! She said she has already written and planned the video, so I guess it is the second single. She also kinda confirmed that she will work with Jonas Akerlund again. And she will also reveal a collaboration on September 1st, I guess she will perform it with the other artist . So exciting!!!

Delicious n Bold 22nd August 2013 04:21 PM

I'm praying that the sequel features beyonce... Even though I'm not a fan of collabs.

ComatoseBunnySnatcher 23rd August 2013 05:42 PM
