Translation: I intended on "Sakura Nagashi" being download only, but I wanted to leave the video in physical form. I also wanted to deliver it to people who dislike downloads. So in a hurry, I decided to release the DVD. That's why the release was so late. It makes me happy when my work becomes something I can hold like this. I was also troubled about the comment but I'm glad I did my best to write it（´㉨｀*）

When a dvd has only one video (I dun even know if I should call this a music video), and when hikki is not in the pv, I dun expect it will get any high sales. And to be honest, the pv is quite weird...

So 20K copies is actually very good to me.

I think the song (music wise) is a bit too traditional to understand, especially to foreign fans. Like... it's something you expect to hear/see in the 60s or 70s old drama, such as her harmony in the end of the song. And the pv actually boosts that sense to me. (e.g., the phoenix, the cranes, hikki wearing ancient asian clothing flying, etc.).

I didn't really like the song when it first came out cuz I thought it was too oldie, and the ending part wasn't finished in the radio version somehow (her harmony disappeared, only background harmony presented). Once the video came out it totally change my feel to the song.

Pretty much loved every song on Deep River. Including the PVs. Lesigh. I want another Deep River. I'll settle for an Ultra Blue ahahaha

People say exodus doesn't sound like utada. I think only some songs could be sung by her, like kremlin dusk, devil inside and animato.

Exodus sounds like Hikki to me. It's just that it takes a bit more experimental tone than before. I mean, DEEP RIVER was rather experimental but to me Exodus is probably the most experimental album in her discography. At first I didn't like the album too much but later I found so many gems from it that I really started to love it♥

I believe it sounds far more like her than First Love or Distance...

It still amazes me how many musical trends she foresaw on this album... quite a lot of stuff she done there hit the radios hard done by other people some years later.

You know... actually Sakura doroppusu was actually the very first "oriental" song from hikki. (Or that's the only one if you think Kairo doesn't sound "oriental"). Like I said I didn't like the song in the beginning because it sounded so not R&B at all. I was used to her R&B style from First Love to Distance. traveling and Hikari aren't really R&B but at least they sound modern, but Sakura sounded like a song for a 60's movie. (well actually Hikari sounds like something you'll sing on a grassland with lots of wild animals surrounding hikki :P).

Of course, in the end I think Sakura doroppusu as one of the signature songs and DEEP RIVER as her best album (I think I should stop right here or else we'll start another best album debate again).

I agree. Exodus is totally a DEEP RIVER pt. 2 (music wise), except it's in English and it's more experimental than DR.

I've been watching WILD LIFE & UU06 over and over lately. :heart The 'Utada' portion of United is so freaking awesome, I can barely stand it and I forgot how amazing that poem she wrote is.

Speaking of Kotoba ni Naranai Kimochi makes me wanna listen to Godtada's amazing masterpieces and feel nostalgic and sad at the same time. Nostalgic because I've been listening to her music for a long time and sad because I realize that she's on hiatus which saddens me so much. :<

With exception of KNNK, I like the rest of Distance. I think Distance is, by far, the album that you can relate the most from all the things that Hikki released. I mean, I'm a teenager and the lyrics of that album appear to be directed to this stage of life. (Maybe that's Hikki was a teenager herself when she wrote that album)

:shakehead Everytime I watch the pv, I always think she sucks at washing dishes. Obviously she doesn't know (or didn't know by then) how to wash dishes... She didn't really scrub the dishes, and then she didn't really rinse off the soap (there's a moment she just rinsed one side of the dish, and she forgot to turn the dish upside down to rinse the bottom part). If she invites me to dinner (like she would anywayz :P), I'll make sure I'm the one washing dishes afterwards. Oh I need to rewash the dishes before she uses any...

I think it has more to do with Utada either having to buy the rights to all her songs back from IDJ or making a deal with them....and it's a slow process because she isn't signed with them anymore so they don't really care about her. Kinda similar to how I personally believe that she went on that "tour" to get out of that contract.

She decided to terminate her contract with Island Def Jam because of the best album they decided to release of her English material, right? Or was there something else that I'm not aware of at all? :D
