GD did the lyrics and arrangement, not the composing

The lyrics are the biggest issue I had with the song lol! But to be fair I'm so bored with gd's lyrics at this point that it's no longer a surprise to me when he raps about the same 2-3 topics.

Don't get me wrong, I love Big Bang but I truly prefer Top's rapping capability/style/flow. His story telling ability and delivery is so on point.

I think GD is an excellent producer/composer, however, and I think that that is where his true talent lies.

I choose to ignore the OOAK/Coup D'Etat era, however. :rolleyes

I just think that T.O.P. is the bigger risk taker and wants to ensure that the story is told correctly and also matches the flow of the song - ie: Doom Dada.

Plus after hearing GD's comments regarding working with Taeyang vs working with Top yesterday it has only cemented my position that Top is the better rapper/innovator. lol.

And before anyone starts I'm not even Top-biased, I'm GD-biased so I'm not just saying this to start shit or anything. I just know that my boy is more of a Drake or Kanye than a Jay-Z, Nas, or Eminem and that he missed the mark on this one and missed the mark on the past 2 years in general and needs to take a sec and get his creativity back.

Monster was the last greatest thing he produced, IMO, and I think he took several thousands steps backwards after that and is now totally lost on Big Bang's sound.

He even said in the most recent interview that Good Boy was intended for Big Bang's new album, which terrifies me.

other than that, regarding the new GDYB interviews. it was said, that the new BB album shall be released in 2015. as GD confessed, the biggest issue is the strain they feel on them after they produced Monster and Fantastic baby, big hits. he mentioned, that right not he has some problems with composing big hit song, and it makes him feel stressed. that is why BB still hasn't released anything as a whole. basically, he blutuntly said that he can't make hits anymore which makes me cringe hella lot.

Good Boy was first supposed to be for the whole BB, yet YG decided to make it for GDYB and I'm happy that YG actually knows what it's doing. this song would ruin BB.

regarding GD lyrics. maybe it's not good to say so, but seems like GD has a bit or not a bit...degenerated. in terms of lyrics and his creativity, he has become blown away with his swag and American stuff, but he can't get over this phase. it is a disaster for his Korean fans and BB, to be honest

I actually really like GOOD BOY but the song doesn't fit Big Bang as a whole group.

^Hmmm to me it sounded like the issues that GD had with working on music with Top was the fact that Top challenged him at every corner so that they could produce high quality music and didn't like the direction GD was taking with some of the material.

Right after that comment he essentially said that Taeyang just goes along with whatever he wants to do so there's less of an argument.

Personally, I think GD needs someone to challenge him every now and again.

All I'm saying is Doom Dada killed all of OOAK/Coup D'Etat and Doom Dada was a single song release. :rolleyes

Maybe Top and Seungri should try producing songs for Big Bang's next album since those two seem to have the magic formula that made their songs slay all of their fellow group members' tracks in the past 2 years.

I completely agree with GD on that. He hasn't lived up to 'Monster' and 'Fantastic Baby' with any releases since. To be fair though, he was also not producing for Big Bang.....so I'll let some of that slide.

Again, I completely agree though, his lyrics feel recycled and his creativity also feels recycled.

I could easily do a mashup of 'Crayon, Michigo (sp?), Shake the World, and Good Boy' and I doubt if anyone would notice when one song transitioned into the next.

Though I don't think they will make the biggest hit as just an album track, but I'm sure we'll get an upbeat track and a piano-ballad-intro-upbeat-but-emo-rest-of-the-song similar to Haru Haru, Lies and Monster later on. Doesn't make sense to me to release the "best" and most exciting track first since excitement will die out very fast and no one will care about the other singles. This way they can build up the hype.

Having said that, I don't expect them to release something better than Fantastic Baby, since they set the bar so high with that one, it'll be very hard to come up with something better :laugh

I actually enjoyed both LOSER and BAE BAE. I had low expectations after some of the latest solo releases and since GD mentioned in an interview that he had a writers block and couldn't make anything good for BIGBANG's comeback, especially considering that they announced the comeback just a couple of months after that interview.

LOSER accidentally really fit my mood when it was released, and fortunately I don't think ballads and midtempos are inferior to upbeat tracks. I think that might be the reason why some people were disappointed with the comeback. I know quite a few people like kpop mainly for catchy dance songs. I don't judge people for that, we all have different reasons for liking different artists, but I personally appreciate upbeat songs and ballads equally most of the time.

I don't like BAE BAE's lyrics, since I don't like lyrics explicitly talking about sex but I liked that they went kinda nuts with the song and especially the MV xD I'm surprised it wasn't banned in Korea actually because they normally seem to be strict with censorship.

Are they the best songs ever? No. But are they necessarily bad songs? Not at all imo.

P.S. They way they're releasing this thing reminds me pretty much of Ayu's "LOVE again" though tbh Less naming singles as mini albums. Like, the names of the singles make up the name of the album + you have to collect stuff to get some gift. Except, with Ayu we just had to buy every release first press, but with BIGBANG we have to collect all the different types of cards that are apparently randomly selected, so you potentially have to buy several versions of all the releases x.x

My first BB song was Love song. But I didn't get that much into BB until Fantastic Baby was released. But tbh I didn't like it at first, it took me like 3 or 4 listens before I got hooked. I had to give it another chance since everyone around me was so hyped and was like "BOOM SHAKALAKA" all the time lol :laugh

My first BIGBANG song was a mash-up of Lollipop 2 + Telephone by Lady Gaga LOL but that song got me into Korean pop and later influenced my best friend into her Korean pop fandom.

Not what I was expecting xD

We like 2 party is totally not what I was expecting but I really like it. Sounds like something you'd listen to with your friends on hot summer nights :)

On the other hand, I expected Bang Bang Bang to be a club/dance kind of track but I don't like it much at the moment. The verse is fine but the refrain is not my cup of tea. It just sounds like the stuff clubs play around 4AM to get the people out of the club, and I don't like that. GD's super high "bang bang" is also kind of annoying although it got stuck in my head easily, so that might be good.

If you can't tell by my signature, I love BANG BANG BANG. I had to stop the video when it got to the low riders though, I was just laughing too hard and it was so awkward.

So far, I'm not fond of WE LIKE 2 PARTY, but it'll probably grow on me. Lots of people are saying it sounds reminiscent of their older days.

BIGBANG can appeal to the masses all they want and I'm happy they found a quirky style they like but I'm not a fan of any of it. Missing the days of Lollipop 2 and Tell Me Goodbye.

Something's wrong with me because I have only liked BANG BANG BANG so far from these new songs. Others has been... not so my taste of music. :/ Now Sober is also added to the "not my taste of music" list.
