She has been someone who has always been so celebratory of marriage that now she is almost obligated and its expected of her that you know if she did get married she would give more of a build up and not just blindside everyone.

About the age gap. I don't think it is a big gap. Both are adults. Yes, I can see they might face time problem. One is an artist in Japan. One is a doctor soon to be. From what I see in drama and in reality, doctor is a super busy man especially the first five years so I hope Ayu and that man know how to deal with it. It's their problem. I just hope they can fix it.

She can carry conversations on her own in English now. Back in 2006-2008, her English was 'okay', but now she can pretty much express herself easily in English compared to before when she seemed like she would struggle to find the correct words.

I imagine that Ayu´s English is good now, but I don´t know if you remember that Mannie said that Ayu´s English was bad and was difficult to him understand her.

I never really paid much attention to what Mannie said.

Well, I'm happy for her and I hope that this is the relationship that sticks. I'm not gonna lie, I don't have the highest hopes (although, she didn't announce this one like her last couple, so points for that), but I certainly don't want it to fail.

she's been having quite some time in LA/ouside of Japan, so i think her english should be pretty decent by now, i mean at least to the point where she can cary an easy going convesation, and i am sure her accent isn't that bad anymore.

Her English handwriting is also very gorgeous now compared to before when it was pretty chicken scratchy like her Japanese, hahahaha.

I think before, she was in easygoing/casual conversation mode (2006-2008) but now she's at the very least on a level where she could live comfortably on her own in an English speaking area without an interpreter or anything.

polka-dot-jewel brought up a good point on Twitter yesterday that I don't think anybody's thought of yet: he's a medical student. He'll never see her assuming he'll be a doctor. Though she has been in LA a lot recently, it's only because she doesn't have anything major going on right now. What'll happen when she goes on tour? It's not like he can go see her during it, because again, schooling and his profession. When I thought about this, I kinda understand people's wish for her to find someone Japanese; at least if the person has a decent job, they won't have to travel THAT far to be with her. It's pretty much the same issues she had with Mannie. I don't see this working - unless she plans on retiring soon after all and living in her house in LA.

I think the more likely scenario is that he will try to fly to Japan when he is free and she will try to fly to LA when she is not touring. It'll probably be more of the latter, but she was essentially in LA when she wasn't on tour this year.

AND if he does come from a wealthy family, or has other people in his family that are already established in whatever medical field, he could be like, working out of a private office, maybe only seeing however many clients he wants to a day.

He might even only have select clientele that is full of celebrities. They ARE in Beverly Hills. People go to private institutions lol It's extremely different from the type of doctor we see on tv or something.

Knowing each other for longer/since ones' teenage years doesn't mean that you're more compatible or more comfortable with each other as a couple than new lovers. Besides, if I remember correctly, (one of) the reason(s) Ayu gave for their break-up was that they had come to feel for each other more as siblings rather than lovers.
I've also always wondered about Ayu and Tomoya's relationship. I got the impression that Ayu was incredibly busy during most of the years they were together (tours, lots of TV performances, ~3 singles and a new album practically every year, magazines, AyuReady? etc.), and what with Tomoya also being an artist, and in addition to that, Johnny's strict rules about the love lives of their stars, I wonder how much time Ayu and Tomoya actually got to spend together as a proper couple. Even though their relationship lasted a long time, it doesn't mean that it was her most serious relationship.
Though these are just personal speculations, and I can't claim to know anything about how Ayu felt back then or feels right now, or will feel in the future. I'll just have to trust that she knows her own feelings well enough to make the best decisions for her.
