so is there a good quality rip out already? the one I have sounds shit on earphones.

Minttulatte 24th February 2014 11:39 AM

^I think we have to wait until Wednesday to get a proper HQ rip because the m4a files I have doesn't sound that HQ. :<

abestfah 24th February 2014 11:55 AM

Only hope I will is supporting for her, if you like Bon Voyage, buy and download legally.
Every artists need to be cheered up. :)

Minttulatte 24th February 2014 12:40 PM

Okay, I've finished with Bon Voyage and all I can say is that I absolutely love it. I can confess that I was a bit scared that there wasn't going to be any cute songs on the album but this album sounds amazing without them. Dropping those has made this album really mature compared to her other albums.

Musically album made me think of Kingdom which I overplayed in 2008. I hope I won't end up doing the same with Bon Voyage though (although it's quite hard for me to get bored with the Queen Kuu lol). I really loved all songs on the album too. CRANK THE BASS and Let's show tonight were the ones that left me feel a bit weird. Those were unexpected. After the first shock I realized how awesome CRANK THE BASS actually is. Very interesting song. Same goes for Let's show tonight. Sad thing is that it's so damn short. :<

I was also a bit doubtful about LOADED because I'm not a fan of Sean Paul at all, but the moment I heard this song, it was amazing. I wasn't even bothered by Sean Paul's parts in the song. Unlike many other people here has said, I think those parts fitted nicely to this song. Lyrics are pretty stupid, but since Kuu wanted this album be the "fun" album of the new beginning, I understand it. This song will probably become one of those songs I will listen until I can't do it anymore. :3

I totally adore Imagine and On Your Side, the new ballads of Bon Voyage. Imagine made me think of Stay and No Way from UNIVERSE. Very similar to them in style while On Your Side was a bit like Slow. I can already imagine these performed on stage on her next tour. I bet they will be awesome and epic♥

U KNOW(WHO I am) was a awesome closing track for the album. I was left with a uplifting and good feeling with a bit of sadness because the album ended. I can also imagine this being performed in the encore part of her concerts. It's very unique for Kuu to close a album with a song like this but I don't mind because it's also a nice change. I also think this song is like a definition of the whole idea. It's probably the most uplifting song on the album apart from Dreaming Now!

I won't say anything about SHOW ME YOUR HOLLA, LOL, Winner Girls, Go to the top, Koishikute, LALALALALA, TOUCH DOWN and Dreaming Now! because I've already told everyone that I love these songs. Before I heard SHOW ME YOUR HOLLA though, I was sure that either Go to the top or Dreaming Now! will be opening songs for the album. I was wrong. Completely. :D But they are perfect in their places on the album. They don't feel out of place to me. Nor does Koishikute and LALALALALA either. Actually I love the Imagine~Koishikute~LALALALALA part quite a lot. :D

I would have wanted darling (from Go to the top) to be included on the album though because that song is just pure genius. It would be made that part even more awesome. Darling would have brought a very sweet atmosphere between Koishikute and explosively energetic LALALALALA tbh. But maybe it's better if it stays where it is. It's a perfect reason to play 2 million plays for GTTT single. x3

I also find it hard to choose the top favorite songs as of now. I can just say that LOADED, LOL and CRANK THE BASS were the ones that caught my attention the best. And intro + interlude ~Bon Voyage~ were awesome♥

5/5
Because it's just so awesome and different in my ears than her other albums. It's awesome what dropping cute songs can do to this girl. It makes her actually even more amazing than ever before. And this comes from a girl who thinks Kuu's the only one who makes amazing cute songs. :p

Trust me, I would have bought everything already if the albums weren't so damn expensive for my budget. I need my money for other things though, sadly. :/

ayumisrael 24th February 2014 01:48 PM

Most of the new tracks are great. 2 mid tempos (Imagine and By your side) are too much in quantity since I prefered almost only up beat stuff but that's ok, they are both really nice. Imagine tramps Okay, Okay is draggy and feels like forever. Annoying. So kuu succeeded this time with it. I love all the up beat stuff, they are awesome!

LA LA LA LA LA especially sticks like a sore thumb in the album though. koishikute has actually a nice transition with Imagine's ending before it but LA LA LA LA LA is like, not related to the album AT ALL. Fun or not. Not bettering JAPONESQUE but a really nice effot! The album has a whole is mainly good, save for mostly lackluster single songs (but awesomeness of the rest).

ILoveGeniuses 24th February 2014 02:01 PM

I DL'd a Torrent of the album in 320KPBS MP3 last night. Does anyone need it? I'm reading all these comments about the quality issues with the DLs already posted.

thinkingoutloud89 24th February 2014 02:18 PM

^when it really is a 320 rip than I need it...my versions sounds fine on the laptop, but on earphones it is just shit.

I don't think a proper 320 rip is out. I downloaded 320 as well and it sounds like shit in earphones as mentioned. You can't pick out the layering in the music. It's very flat sounding.

Maemi 24th February 2014 02:51 PM

Just listened to the album and it's one of her worst, that's for sure. I like only LALALALA and Dreaming Now! while Show Me Your Hola is ok. The others are forgettable and pretty generic :/

inspire_rmx 24th February 2014 03:10 PM

absoutely adore the new album! can't wait for the high quality rips soon

Ayu isn't really a dancer though. She is a live vocalist and her performances are story driven, usually involving some sort of implied plotline. As much as I want to hear Ayu perform remixes, I don't think she'd do it in this fashion. It's still possible with elaborate costume designs and interesting props though. I don't think she'd necessarily take it in the direction Kumi has though. This works for Kumi as it is in line with most of her performances and her "image", but just imagining that Ku was Ayu in these exact performances, making the same moves and etc, comes off as very strange to me in my head. It would be so out of character for her.

I love the pics with that black leather dress! :heart

emi♡ 25th February 2014 10:26 AM

She's toooooooo clothed! What is this booklet! lol

Did some people still need a proper 320 rip? I can make one from the flac I have, and we can see if it's better~ Other people might have already put some up, and it may not be better, but I think I'll put one in my skydrive just because.

Click the pandas ^^~

Surreal17 25th February 2014 10:29 AM

wow! so nice! omg, that's kuu's writing in the first pic??? I regret not buying FC Edition CD+DVD ...I didn't thought that the album will turn this good!

What do you think about the sales, guys?? Will it be better than JAPONESQUE?

Corvina 25th February 2014 11:13 AM

Just noticed...there`s written "Schnitzel with noodles" on her shirt! Omg, I love her! :laugh :heart

emi♡ 25th February 2014 11:18 AM

I was trying to figure out wth it said...I was like..."schnitzel? wth is that! why is it with noodles?" XD

Corvina 25th February 2014 11:22 AM

Schnitzel is a german/austrian meat dish, usually made out of pork (isn`t it known? I thought so). You normally don`t eat with noodles here, but with some form of potatoe. Seriously, so funny, I want that shirt! :laugh

Ah, it`s also escalope in English and French! :)

And thanks to emi for the better rip of Bon Voyage, too♥

//Looking at these radio show pics makes me miss those ustream broadcasts she used to have for Dejavu promotion. It was so awesome to see what kind of things she was doing. I wonder if those will return at some point~

I really like the pics of the booklet. Do you think we'll get the same pics for the standards editions (CD / CD+DVD) ?

Really? I saw nothing special when Gaga's BTW came out except a small sign on the side of the Anti-Theft Sensor Things as you walk in/out of HMV. Also yeah so would I most likely be stuck in the stores. Actually the idea of living in Japan worries me. At every turn I'd be tempted to spend. I'd never get any money saved aside. lol

Anyways Im loving this album. Also I get a minor Big Fat Bass Britney vibe from Kuu's Crank Tha Bass and I ♥ It. :D

I don't think it's her best album and I didn't like it much at the first listen, but today I've been listening it all day

Tell me about it urgh.
Last time anything big was promoted was Arctic Monkey's AM album, and that's because they come from my hometown. Our HMV was literally covered in merch, posters, vinyls; the end displays of every shelf in the shop were all their previous releases (and not just on release week, this was for about a month leading up to the album...).

Anyway, thanks emi for the rip! :D So excited to finally hear the full thing~

ayumisrael 25th February 2014 09:07 PM

Btw the first 320kbps rip from jpopsuki is completely fine, I don't know what people here are talking about (and I'm a legit 320kbps freak heard in earphones/big loudspeakers). Maybe people find the album's mixing/mastering lacking?

I agree! I always love seeing the pictures from CD stores in Japan (the booths are cool!). It makes the release of a new album seem like such an event! I'd for to my own HMV more often if they did things like this! (They don't! And rarely stock what I want to buy!)

The first rip that surfaced here on AHS was terrible, the jpopsuki one was probably fine but no one actually downloaded it before asking whether the rips were real or not XD

Listening through FLAC, I actually found the mixing/mastering for this album great and I'm suuuper picky about that lol

Oh my god I love "LOADED"!

It does NOT slow down! Perfect pacing! My main gripe with most songs, needless gaps, spaces and breaths, and the Verses are actually more catchier than the hook, which NEVER happens, and the hook is already gold itself.

Again, I live for those Verses. So FRESH. Extra kudos to them for throwing it in for a third time at the end and doing away with convention. Makes me think they realized and appreciated what they had. "TOUCH DOWN" could of did with the same treatment. Bomb verses just left forgotten for the 2nd half of the whole entire too long of a song without them parceled throughout.

But anyways......"LOADED"....

Perfect.

When I first saw that shirt I was like does that really say schnitzel with noodles? So I looked it up and found the company that makes those shirts which pretty much confirmed it for me. They even have a nautical themed collection going at the moment which made me think that maybe that's where Kuu got the idea from.
I had no idea it was a line from a song from the Sound of Music :roflmao

Benikari47 26th February 2014 08:44 AM

My opinion on the album! :P

Spoiler:

Introduction~Bon Voyage~
KUU ARE YOU CRAZY? You drop a beat this hot and decide to make it the introduction track? Chick needs a reality check, this could possibly have been the hottest song on the whole album.

SHOW ME YOUR HOLLA 8/10
I'll admit that i didn't like SMYH much at first, sure it was catchy but it lacked a memorable hook to me. But it's completely won me over now, the chorus is bananas and her vocals really fit this type of track. I love the voice processing going on when she's singing "Show Me Your Holla", it gives a really cool edge to the song that i'm really loving.

LOADED Ft. Sean Paul 6/10
What were they thinking with that build-up to the chorus? It's damn annoying, a shame considering how great the song started.. I love the bouncy beat and vocals but it fell down like a house of cards after that. The chorus is decent however and Sean Paul has surprisingly great chemistry with Kuu. Decent song all things considered, but i wish they cut out that annoying part.. ugh

Winner Girls 4/10
Too repetitive and not my type of song at all, it's got a decent beat going on for it but i honestly just found it boring and un-inspired. Also, am i the only one who thinks it sounds like a DejaVu leftover?

Imagine 8/10
I was never a huge fan of Kuu's ballads, but this one really took me by surprise.. It's giving me major nostalgia and her vocals just sound divine. It's so typically J-Pop that i can't help but loving everything about it. Really great song, i wonder why she didn't release this alongside Koishikute as a double A-Side? :no

Koishikute 7/10
Never understood the hate for this song, sure it's really "by the books" and sounds like 1000 other ballads released in Japan. But the instrumental is beautiful and her vocals are heartfelt, it's easy on the ears and definitely better than Ai Wo Tomenaide.

LALALALALA 7'5/10
I always feel like one of the only people who like Kuu's rock-esque tracks, Poppin' Love Cocktail was universally hated and i never see Hashire! mentioned anywhere on here.. a shame, cause i jammed so much to both of them. This one is no exception. The chorus is level A+ catchy and i can't help moving my hips to that beat, this could easily be a concert stable in my opinion.

Let's Show Tonight 5/10
I can't help but find this track really unnecessary? It doesn't fit the album at all and it's so short, not sure why she wanted to include it here either.. It would've have made more sense before or after SMYH honestly. Not a horrible song, just made me go WTF for a moment lol.

Interlude~Bon Voyage~
Love the beat, she always has great interludes (although nothing beats the one's for Japonesque <3) but i understand why this wasn't made into a full song.

TOUCH DOWN 8/10
I used to find Touchdown so extremely boring and un-inspired but eventually it just hit home, not to mention how hot the video is. Not really much to say as i've already mentioned my love for it countless times haha.

CRANK THA BASS Ft. OVDS 7/10
YESSSSS KUU BRING ME THAT SASS! Her vocals are so bad-ass here, i love when she brings this type of attitude as it fits her so well. The chorus is pretty damn lame, but she makes up for it with those verses. Really great song!

LOL 10/10
Best song on the album without a doubt, her engrish is more cringeworthy than ever and still i can't help but loving the shit out of it. The chorus is catchy, just the right amount of annoying and most important of all.. MEMORABLE! She always has songs like this, pretty much on all her albums but that's cause she's so damn good at them. Perfection <3 :luv2

Go To The Top 6/10
Never been a huge fan of GTTT, it's just not my cup of tea at all. I loved the Anime inspired video, but yeah not really a song i care for.

Dreaming Now! 9/10
Without a doubt my favorite A-Side from this era and the only one up to her usual standards, she just delivered really well here honestly.

On Your Side 5/10
The definition of filler, it's so dry and could hardly remember anything about it when the song ended. Not a fan of this at all.

U KNOW 8/10
Wow, what is this? I feel like playing some Pokemon Yellow on my old gameboy after hearing that instrumental, this is such a cool song and i really like that she decided to end the album on a joyful note. Cause honestly, it left me feel kind of underwhelmed so this was a really smart move. I would actually have liked if she decided to go down this route for her next album! It's fun, care-free and obviously catchy. I don't find the chorus all that great but overall a really, really nice song.

Overall, a decent album that didn't turn out as bad as i expected. It still left me feeling underwhelmed and a little disappointed, Kuu has so much more in her than this.. some of the songs just sound like un-inspired versions of her past hits. But still, it has some damn good bangers and i'll be replaying LOL and U Know for the next month without a doubt. I'd probably score it in the middle, like 5/10 :D

How great that they made a connection to an old song like that, which totally fits to the retro concept she`s going for. Such a nice little detail for the album.

Oh my God. This album is just so--fun! I need to let it settle before I could form an opinion. I stayed away from this thread... so, I just read the discussion about LOL. Crap, I literally started laughing out loud (no pun intended). Seriously, how fun is that song? Ha ha ha.

Well done Kuu in #1 for the first day! I imagine a big amount of sales for this album will be digitally, but I hope she gets #1 for the week! It'll be awesome to see how this does on rechoku. (however its spelt lol)

Since we have booklet scans, apparently, are song credits out yet? I'd like to see what songs Kuu penned herself. Also, translations should follow soon, yeah?

Minttulatte 26th February 2014 09:06 PM

Hopefully she can get #1. The suju unit sold 18,000 today and they are 5,000 behind for now.

I still have faith that she can get the #1.

Great tracklist for DH6, omg! Interesting that Inside/Outside Fishbowl are getting mixed together, that is promising... Ansious to hear the OVDS remix of CRANK THA BASS, and also XXX and BBBoys. Previews are good, LOADED and Winner Girls are possibly my favorite from those.

From the previews only the CRANK THE BASS remix sounds nice so far. I hope the Fishbowls one will be awesome. And the others too.

Yeah. It's crazy but my most played track from DH5 was the intro. I'm amazed how awesome it turned out, it should have been a full song.

murasakinohana 28th February 2014 01:52 AM

whatever happened to the remixed version Pearl Moon? was it excluded from the final cut at the last minute?

happiholic★ 28th February 2014 04:53 AM

The more I listen to Bon Voyage the more I appreciate it. I don't know if this was discussed before, but I feel like the title is kind of tied to Japonesque. When she created Japo she said she wanted to show that Japanese music could meet the international standard, but I think it was still very much Japanese music. I feel like Bon Voyage is saying goodbye to Japan and uses a much more non-Japanese sound. Tie that in with one of the singles being titled Summer Trip and I really think it makes sense.

Also, while Loaded is kind of a shallow song, there is one lyric I really like:

Quote:

We don't care, if you do care, you lose
To me, it comes off as don't mind what others think of you, be however you want to be, worrying about what others think of you only hurts you. Just be happy. Kinda reminds me of Ayu's Party Queen.

I think this album's lyrics are full of little gems like that. There is one in LOL I like, too.

Also, I live for the intro to this album. Ugh, I loooooove it. At first I thought I liked the interlude more, but NOPE.

Dream 28th February 2014 07:28 AM

Has anyone gotten their hands on the Live DVD yet? I really wanna watch it.

Corvina 28th February 2014 10:21 AM

So, after listening to the album a whole lot in the last days, I`m going to do a detailed review.

Spoiler:

Introduction:
Great beat and melody. Also a nice and fitting start to the album with those sailing sounds at the beginning.
SHOW ME YOUR HOLLA:
Jazzy instrumental parts mixed with a catchy dancable beat. I love that melody in the background you can notice in the HQ rip!
LOADED:
At first I was a bit taken aback. So much autotune. And those parts where Sean Paul and Kuu are singing next to another in a wild mess were so irritating. I still don`t know why they did like that. But prechorus and chorus are insanely catchy and Sean Paul fits so well. It grew on me.
Winner Girls:
Oh, I love the music in this one! And her vocals! Sadly I`m not too satisfied with the lyrics. Pretty divaish, rofl. Just a good song and not perfect because of that.
Imagine:
A bit dull in the verses, but the chorus and the gorgeous lyrics won me over!
Koishikute:
I don`t, I can`t do much with this song from the beginning. The chorus is nice, but that`s it for me. It fits really well after Imagine and in the album though.
LALALALALA:
First I noticed is how rich it sounds in HQ! A song for a certain mood, sunny and happy days. But it absolutely doesn`t fit in the album. I wished they just axed it.
Let`s show tonight:
Such a nice little change in style. Great vocals. Carries the theme of the album to the second album part.
Only complain - it`s too short.
Interlude:
Again a sick catchy beat. Fits musically to the Intro. Though I like the Intro better.
I guess, cause Intro and Interlude are a pair, Kuu added Let`s show tonight as a short song. Let`s show tonight probably was the Intro first, but after deciding to have a fitting pair as Intro and interlude, she still wanted to include it, cause she liked it so much.
TOUCH DOWN:
The most american hip hopesque Kuu ever made. Love the heavy guitar in the background. Always liked it.
Crank Tha Bass:
Probably the most structured song on the album. Every part fits to the others. Different with grunge elements and a great break. I just love it!
LOL:
Addicting and catchy song! I love the attitude and lyrics, especially the chorus.
Go to the top:
Always loved this song. Dupstep dance song with a positive message to go your own way.
Dreaming Now!:
Very maistream song, but done in the right way. Another single I always loved. And it flows so damn well in this part of the album.
On your side:
My other favourite song from the album next to Crank Tha Bass! Gorgeous lyrics, great vocals, nice composition.
U KNOW:
8-bit melody combined with a very european sounding pop composition. The chorus is a bit generic and could get on my nerves at some point. But I like it, it`s a nice album ender. Btw. the 8-bit parts sound like the sound system from the Sega console according to my boyfriend. :D

Overall a really strong and cohesive album. Imo it flows absolutely well. Except LALALALALA. Take it out and it will be pretty perfect.
Time will tell if it becomes my favourite album. But it is in my top 5.

Favourite songs:
Crank Tha Bass, On your side, LOL, Go to the top and Dreaming Now!

Least favourite:
Koishikute and LALALALALA

ayumisrael 28th February 2014 12:53 PM

Bon Voyage is #4 today with less than 2,700 copies sold.

Was quite shocking to me since I didn't never ever expected it to drop this low on the 3rd day. Maybe 6000 but not like 2500. Oh well. I do hope it will pick up somehow. I really liked the album tracks. They are mostly amazing. Better than I thought.

I'm so not used to see ayu and kuu not remotely as interesting to the public.

inthezone 28th February 2014 01:10 PM

so it probably wont be #1 :(

Corvina 28th February 2014 01:41 PM

It depends on the next days.
For now she`s still ahead.
Let`s hope the best.

Same here. It sucks, because they are probably one of the very few ARTISTS in the very sense of the word. Especially in the JPOP panorama. Charts are so meh.

Just got my copies of Bon Voyage and affection. My studio album collection is officially complete! :yatta

toniayu 28th February 2014 08:31 PM

My copy arrived today! It is a nice album overall but is not her best album in my opinion. I agree with many people's opinion, this album is really fun!
What I think about the tracks:
Spoiler:
The interludes are AMAZING,seriously kumi has the best interludes and they are even better than some full songs. That introduction is gorgeous.
Show me your holla: is a really good song, a good choice to promote the album because is one of the best songs on it.
Loaded: is one of my favorites, I really love this song!
Winner girls: another awesome song on the album, one of my favorites too.
Imagine: this is a beautiful ballad. I love that kind of sound from kumi. Just so mature and touching.
Let's show tonight: why this isn't longer?? It is so good! It should be a full song...
Crank tha bass: I really don't like that song. It is so aggressive for my taste, even kinda scary. The best part is the bridge though,if the whole song sounded like that maybe I would like it.
LOL: it's not bad at all but I don't really like Kumi's voice in that song, it is a little bit too exaggerated in my opinion. But still a great song, really funny. Edit: this songs is amazing too,luv it. Lol
On your side: it is nice not my favorite but I like it.
U know: AWESOME. Yes, I think this is my favorite on the album, it is perfect to close the album with that song.

As for the singles track: I like them, specially touch down and dreaming now(which remains one of my favorites on this album too) but I really HATE GTTP, seriously I can't even listen to that song, I would have let it out of the album and included xxx instead.

Well done Kumi! Is a good album, so fresh and cohesive, and it does deserves good sales.

orangeakira 28th February 2014 08:39 PM

After listening to the album multiple times I definitely think the songs could have been changed.

Spoiler:
-I think Show Me Your Holla would fit perfectly after Let's show tonight. They sound really similar and I feel like LST actually sounds like a prelude to SMYH.
-LOL would fit perfectly after the intro. They both have a bad-ass feel to them.
-Is This Trap and XXX should have both been on the album. XXX would be after Crank Tha Bass and Is This Trap? before Touchdown.
-I'd take Imagine and Koishikute off the album entirely or remix koishikute to make it sound less generic and make them both bonus tracks (if I had to put them on the album at all).
-I'd switch Go to the top and Dreaming Now, cause GTTT has that 8-bit sound that U KNOW has ( I think On Your Side has a little bit of it too).
-I's switch On Your Side and U KNOW cause OYS has a slower beat and feels like a song she'd sing at the end of a concert, and I feel like it'd flow into Imagine easier.

01. Introduction ~Bon Voyage~
02. LOL
03. LOADED feat. Sean Paul
04. Winner Girls
05. LALALALALA
06. Let's show tonight
07. SHOW ME YOUR HOLLA
08. Interlude ~Bon Voyage~
09. Is This Trap?
10. TOUCH DOWN
11. XXX
12. Crank Tha Bass feat. OVDS
13. Dreaming Now!
14. Go to the top
15. U KNOW
16. On Your Side
Bonus Tracks
17. Imagine
18. 恋しくて[AILI's Warmy Remix]

I'm really not sure what I'd do with koishikute. It needs a remix/album version/something to make it fit with all the other songs.

happiholic★ 28th February 2014 08:46 PM

I'm obsessed with Aili's Warmy Remix of Ai no Kotoba. It took a craptastic song and made it enjoyable.

Also, I second the request for the Live DVD with Bon Voyage. I love that its Halloween themed (on her nautical themed album :P).
