Partying is a lot of work tbh. You have to get ready, you have to go outside and move, you have to drink, sometimes you drink a lot and get drunk and then feel the pain in the morning unless you drink tequila only since she's the best alcohol for you/doesn't make you feel hung over.
With sex you can just do that at home. No real preparations, just showering.

oh gosh! This post really made my day! :D

i actually really like the album LOL im surprised to see the disappointed. This is like another step of electro from FEEL...The last two ballads were surprising :)

but yes her voice..is lost amongst all the music.

I LOVE Photogenic, Fashionista, Stranger, Space Invader though. Anything's lyrics...Heartplace? LOL

Queen of controversy

But yeah jpop central is VERY positive about this album. It's so positive it's like a... I don't know... A huge sugar rush so big it feels like all my teeth are rotting and I'm gonna get diabetes or something. Not saying positivity is bad but I've always liked a balance of opinions. Too positive and it's annoying. Too negative and it's depressing. This forum seems to be JUST right. There's enough people liking it and enough people dragging it into oblivion that everything's fine and dandy... At least I think so.

This is the kind of stuff that gives pop a bad rap. :( It's not even that the lyrics are stupid (they are) but the fact that there's not even a pretense of meaning here annoys me. The lyrical content won't hurt my enjoyment of the album (the Engrish nonsense will) because I don't listen to Namie for any imagined artistry, but it annoys me all the same.

Pop is plenty capable of producing songs that, while they might not be incredibly artistic or innovative, are still meaningful or purposeful. Songs about being attractive and clubbing really only function for passing time getting ready for girls' night out or whatever. I mean, lyrically, this album just COULDN'T be anymore purposeless and impossible to connect with except maybe on a Friday night. She's not saying anything, and neither are the songwriters she bought the tracks from. It's just a whole bunch of lyrical filler for the sake of putting out something new.

The lyrics themselves sound like placeholder lines, like the songwriter just jotted random phrases in to fill the notes for a demo and never got around to finishing the song or making it coherent. So much of it is absolute gibberish? And the fact that she's singing all these incomplete thoughts that don't make any sense to an actual English speaker, let alone to Namie who can't understand English, just baffles me from a musical standpoint because what's the point?

I know the point is $$$, but still. For Japan's leading pop star, it's just... I want more??? I know it's pop and pop exists to be profitable and commercial and marketable, but at some point you reach a level of purposelessness that it just turns into k-pop.

ETA: It's not just the fact that the lyrics are "vapid", it's the combination of everything. They're vain and meaningless, they're gibberish, they're in English which she doesn't even speak, they're in English which her target audience doesn't even speak. It couldn't be more filler.

i don't usually agree with what you have to say, but this sums up my brain pretty well lol

Well unfortunately there's NATE to dictate the forum/namie thread there so you can't really voice remotely negative opinions there about Namie and she happens to be his favorite. He doesn't get that there were a lot who don't like the words namie sing in the new album and makes excuses for it (and it has nothing to do with namie not writing lyrics/not being deep). You can have good/cool lyrics without going deep but also without being repetitive and be ridiculous.

If Namie is that in charge of the songs she chooses than she has to take responsibility for what she sings in her songs, with all the grammatical mistakes, or repeated words/themes.
But again, it's not for an audience that completely understands what she sings or the language she sings in.

I wouldn't call the people who voice such opinions haters since a lot of them like namie a lot and buy her music, they just think she can do better and singing lyrics/words is part of the music she does.

I still don't care much for these stuff if the music is fun. On the most part.

I hate it when people don't let you voice an opinion about Namie if it's not wow! amazing!

That's why I like the ayu forums here where many people critique ayu constructively.
Stans will be stans anywhere. But they are always more prevalant when their artists are selling well. Wait until Hikki comes back to life lol. Other Utada fans scare me sometimes man. I actually thinks that's why I only spent a week on jpc many years ago when I was an angsty teen. (More like 5 years ago)

Anyway, this album probably won't be bad to me and a few of these songs will probably be great. It just won't be really special. Honestly, Namie probably has to go in a different direction for me to be more into things again.

But idk, I'll listen to the full songs

So true.
That NATE guy is so shady towards other people's faves everytime someone voices a "negative" opinion about his dearest Namie :roflmao
And I still don't get why Namie's stans got so defensive just because a lot of people (that actually really like Namie as well) are pointing out how ridiculous and uninspiring these lyrics are :roflmao
"Oh but it's pop music you should expect that" "you're just being picky!!!!" ridiculous excuses. Pop doesn't always have to equal superficiality, we have plenty of examples of that and guess what, lyrics are really important for some people to fully enjoy music and its meaning.
It's like she's untouchable, "Beyoncè of jpop", never makes mistakes :roflmao

This is the description of CDJapan .
It seems that some songs are produced by some of the producers who have worked for Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez , Beyonce, Selena Gomez , Madonna, Loreen etc

In my opinion it was very likely that this happens . How many times have imagined or desired Namie well as other Japanese pop singers to debut in America? _genic Think is that result, international namie but without risking real debut in the US market and fail. And I like to give us this very international drive without it becoming the new globaliza star.

I just heard the previews and I quite like some tracks.

Btw, I was shocked when I saw the lyrics of Stranger. I always thought she sang "I got you everytime, I got you anytime you call my name" but it's not that :o

Yep, totally agree. I love Namie too but...controversially...I find Feel to be...just alright *gasp*

For me, I wouldn't have minded if Feel had a bigger mix of both Japanese and English produced songs. In saying that, my favourite song of the album is Contrail but my least favourite is Can You Feel This Love. I do enjoy listening to Feel every so often, so I won't critique it too harshly, but sometimes I think it could have been anyone's album. If the album was full of songs to the standard of Alive however I may be loving this album as much as everyone else does!

I do really like Alive, Stardust In My Eyes and Contrail though!

I am so far expecting to be disappointed by _genic, but hopefully, as with Uncontrolled, it will grow and I'll love it. I've only heard the initial preview (which I think was of Photogenic maybe?) and I really liked the old-school-Namie-R&B vibes it was giving me.

When I first heard the album was going to be 80s/90s inspired, I was so hoping (even though it would never happen) for a TK track as a throwback - that would be a lot of fun!

After watching Live Style and seeing all the pre-_genic songs performed, I was so ready for another Namie album. Especially after hearing Sweet Kisses. I may just buy all these tracks after I get _genic if I do feel a bit let down by the album. Although I wouldn't mind if they turned up on a compilation somewhere.

Speaking of Uncontrolled, it didn't do much for me at all at first and I found myself agreeing with the comments at the time (that it was a bit boring/bland/uninspired) which is weird to think now, given how much I love it! It's in my Top 5 Namie albums. I think Uncontrolled has a great mix of different types of songs.

Wow I just listened to the previews and this is what I would've liked to hear on FEEL. I enjoyed FEEL, but I felt that the english songs (which were the majority) did not have good enough melodies or beats to distract me from the engrish. However, I'm enjoying what I hear so far. Although, I was expecting something completely different with this album. Oh well!

I believe this album would be better received with the Singles.

We would have had Singles with some basic arse fillers parceled throughout and more easily digested and nobody would have batted an eye because that tends to be how it goes.

But instead, we got an Album full of FILLERS with no Singles to be propped up by.

It's like going to see the Avengers and everybody is Hawkeye.

And to that signature above me with the different types of fans.....LOOOL! Is that ayumi as her own fan?! The decrepit state of her base! Doesn't seem like anyone in the back cares. LOL!

All of the comments about Lyrics make me lol.
Just think of Hide & Seek, Do Me More, Fast Car, WILD, etc.
Seriously, Japanese lyrics didn't make a Namie's song more deep than her other that was mostly in English.
The preview's awesome in music quality and her vocal's greater than FEEL.
I'm glad that Namie's never made a song, MV or her voice dramatically chessy like WARNING.

NintendoHTF1242 5th May 2015 03:47 AM

Off-topic but I feel like Love Story really encompasses why I love Japanese music even though I do not understand much Japanese. There is so much emotion in the way Namie sings (as much as you guys like making fun of her being dead) and the melody is just wow so stunning. Such a beautiful and fantastic song.

Back on topic, the previews grew onto me. This album won't be shitty by any means but it's not gonna be better than FEEL but only time will tell.

Delicious n Bold 5th May 2015 03:48 AM

I agree about love story. Namie served a reverse warholian expedition with that song. I hated it at first but then I heard it at some tsutaya in Japan and fell in love.

terra 5th May 2015 04:25 AM

I love Love Story since the first time I heard it, it's like a sad version of Baby Don't Cry.

I don't have a particular problem with the album musically, it's sth she had release before and I like her dancey music, maybe for the exception of Birthday (who reminds me of Katy's TGIF or Birthday) and Every Woman (who makes Hot Girls sounds better). For me the problem lies in the way the lyricist wrote the lyrics. I mean its not deep and cheesy, but there's difference between cheesy Japanese lyric and cheesy English lyrics, and English cheesy tends to be worse imo.

And lmao at S4MU3L's signature, if I love them all what kind of people am I? An Old-Kingdom-Hearts-Fanatic-Hunky-Housewive?

I don't really look for depth in my pop songs, but I think it's just the repetitive nature of the lyrics that got to me. The fact they're just excerpts lets me keep hope that the full album will just sound less 'samey' lyrics-wise when everything is in full.

I'm fine with Namie's level of emotions. She uses it when she needs to, but she has a cool image with her songs and it works for her.

There you go. If you do like a song a lot (even just raving to it) and you would like to sing it or sing along with namie, it will somehow start to get annoying singing the same stuff. Sing yeah oh round and round, let's party dance I'm a diva (and in one album).

Wow the amount of vitriol here (mostly from one person if I had to be honest) is terrifying, I'm not sure if it's even marginally better than Jpopcentral.

Am also really surprised that people dislike the previews and that the word 'filler' has been used to describe the music there. It's just staggeringly confusing and really makes me wonder what these people (who disliked the songs) think is "good" music. But I will just attribute it to a difference in taste and leave it at that.

Listened to the preview a few days ago, and I was happy with it.

I honestly don't expect much from Namie in terms of where I want her to go or what I want her to do.

I'm fine with her generic sound, and I'm happy to see what generic sound she pulls off next. She does it nicely, and I'm never really bored. And sometimes, she pulls it off amazingly and it just slays. So. I consider that a win. I think the album will be a win, but I don't think I'll like it as much as the last one.

idk what's going to win my heart after Stardust in my Eyes and Contrail.

damn I need to go find my album lol

I can't with the Utada section of the Namie thread! *dead*

Namie fans don't scream ... What is that. Desperate housewives? They scream... I don't even know actually.

She looks so much better without bangs imo

I hope it'll be fully gone until next year, she's been removing those for ages...

i actually like bangs on her, it looks cute. On the other hand this hair doesn't ask for much styling lol

The "emotionless singing/dancing/posing" seems to always be an issue here. Why the hell i don't have a problem with it? She seems normal to me lol

adantatu2 6th May 2015 09:22 PM

Maybe she knows she is getting old, and well, we know tattoos look bad on wrinkled skin.

I'm joking, lol.

Am also really surprised that people dislike the previews and that the word 'filler' has been used to describe the music there. It's just staggeringly confusing and really makes me wonder what these people (who disliked the songs) think is "good" music. But I will just attribute it to a difference in taste and leave it at that.

Some people just didn't swoon over the previews.
And some stated their various reasons. Some even talked about the compositions themselves.

I know some people say that we should have different expectations in certain areas for different artists and I mean...you can. Anyone can. But that doesn't mean that everyone will. And even if you have the same expectations, an artist just may not meet it for some people. I never see that as surprising or warranting a reaction like in your post lol. I don't even think this thread is so bad. As you said, everyone has different tastes.

In the meantime, she is so beautiful. Her youthfulness will never fail to amaze me. And her legs. :luv2

Zahara 7th May 2015 06:36 AM

I want to know where she found the fountain of youth because daaaaaaayum.

Corvina 7th May 2015 09:39 AM

Actually in those fashion show photos she looks too ypung for my taste. xD
She has that puppet look going on and this is definitely not my beauty ideal.
She looks pretty perfect in the last shampoo CM though!
Give her hair some volume!

Zahara 7th May 2015 02:02 PM

Tbh I always wondered what she would look like with dark hair.

Earth_maiden 7th May 2015 02:42 PM

Considering one of the tattoos is for her mum and the other is for her son, I do wonder if she's made replacement tatts somewhere else on her body? Not that she has to or anything, I was just curious if she had or not.

Anna.L 7th May 2015 06:36 PM

But doesnt has some events that she hiding her tatoo with make up?

everlastingRAINBOW 7th May 2015 07:26 PM

Like B Who I Want 2 B, wonder what the Namie version will sound like.

Corvina 7th May 2015 07:57 PM

Ah, now that you mention it, it wasn't posted here, was it?

Here's the demo of B Who I Want 2 B:

Delicious n Bold 7th May 2015 08:29 PM

Sounds good. I gave the songs another listen and in the end I ended up liking them more than before. You have to listen to them as if they're fun party songs (which they are). It's just pure fun. Nothing serious. Like a fling.

Chibi-Chan 7th May 2015 10:02 PM

Well, it's not like I would ever expect something else than fun party songs from Namie. If I want to listen to great music I wouldn't choose Namie. Only problem is: those aren't fun party songs.

stickyrice 7th May 2015 10:03 PM

^^ That's exactly how I see these songs. They're fun. There's nothing really offensive about them imo. I actually listened to the previews again today in my car and the experience was muuuuch better than it was through my laptop speakers! But to each their own I suppose.

I'm loving that SOPHIE track btw. I'm really looking forward to Namie's take on it.

Exactly. It's not that I have a problem with fun party songs, but those previews sound mostly boring and uninspired imo

She isn't, they fade over time from UV exposure. It just seems shes chosen not to reink them probably because its easier to fade them out during photoshoots.

pimenta 8th May 2015 10:27 PM

^ Tattoos don't naturally fade the way hers did. Her tattoos were perfectly visible in 2011, and suddenly got fadded the next year and now they're nearly gone. That's not simple fadding, imo she's definitely removing the tattoos, just like she removed her wrist ones.

This isn't true. She's getting rid of them.

I've had tattoos for years and they do not fade like that.

JackieRos 9th May 2015 04:04 AM

^yeah you're right.

She has gotten rid of tattoos before. I actually thought that she will never get rid of her sons name and
the one for her mother but I'm guessing she didn't
want them anymore. I loved her tattoos.

No, her tattoos weren't like that in previous tours.

Delicious n Bold 9th May 2015 04:07 AM

She just posted a pic on her official fb
I'm 100% SLEIGHED tbh

Wonder is her photoshoots will have more sports related things for this album's promotion

Surreal17 9th May 2015 08:59 AM

Namiecycling
please drop that damn album...why did she had to announce everything so early

Corvina 9th May 2015 10:34 AM

That pic is a promo photo for the tour apparently.
Her face looks weird.
But I really like her outfit.
What's the thing in the background?

terra 9th May 2015 11:24 AM

^It's a discoball I guess
and yes her face looks weird, it's her but it's not her

The tour would have something to do with sports? lol

chocopockymaster 9th May 2015 12:33 PM

A disco-ball football helmet? I've officially seen it all.

AYUmyQUEEN 9th May 2015 02:38 PM

Her face looks weird? lol what? Looks like normal Namie to me, and she looks great :)

Delicious n Bold 9th May 2015 02:39 PM

I remember she announced Feel late may and we got it early July. Maybe that was a better waiting period.

chocopockymaster 9th May 2015 05:15 PM

I think it's her nose. It looks wider than usual? Did she take the whole football thing too far and get her nose broken during a game or something? idek

thinkingoutloud89 9th May 2015 05:39 PM

looks normal to me

pimenta 9th May 2015 06:14 PM

She looks absolutely gorgeous in that pic :luv2

But now that people mentioned, her nose does look kinda different... Could be her face position + the light, or just photoshop. She still looks gorgeous anyway.

terra 9th May 2015 06:38 PM

It's not that she's weird like she's been under the knife or sth, it's more like I never saw her face looks like that. I know it's her but I never remember she looked like that from that angle.

Probably what pimenta said, it's the post photoshoot treatment that caused her looks different.

ahtka-chan 9th May 2015 06:50 PM

Really unrelated to the subject, but I recently came across with the full Space of Hip Pop tour and OMG, it's amazing!

http://www.veoh.com/watch/v1089552xW...ace+of+Hip-Pop

The performance of WoWa with Namie dancing with the Pink Panther is so nice!

I just dislike her hair here.

JackieRos 9th May 2015 06:57 PM

She does look different from this cover and the chanel pictures but I love it

gosh yeah I'm so glad she got rid of the ponytails...it ruined like every show from break the rules (where it was the worst) onwards

melissalove 9th May 2015 08:25 PM

Photo could just be extremely processed, i can even see her face shining a bit. :love still beautiful photo.

She's holding a football helmet? American tour confirmed.

Why would an album promo picture released before the album comes out be used at the tour jacket photo for a tour that has yet to happen?

The only time was with Feel tour

JackieRos 11th May 2015 12:01 AM

I've been thinking about this, many people say that namie didn't know how sexual
want me want me was but hello the Japanese parts where just as bad.

From corner to corner, from behind
Up to my face, all over.
Oh boy, we're going a little too fast.

Shut up namie, you knew what you were talking about.
