Made to show what I saw. Not the actual picture I saw
https://photouploads.com/images/32b923.md.png
This wasn't the cover used in what I saw. It was one of these covers Im pretty sure I saw.
https://photouploads.com/images/7d9a3b.jpg
Or possibly even this cover...
http://ayumi.primenova.com/discography/abest4.jpg
But it was 4 different ones, all same cover, but slightly different pink line over it

chocopockymaster 13th February 2016 04:11 PM

Eeeeeew.

jiarongisme 13th February 2016 04:43 PM

That's fan made.

As far as we know of the documentarys she was very upset abpu the production of the original A best... and she was very disagree about resinging songs like A song for XX . I would be very surprised if shell do the same again. Maybe this release is a chance to do the things well about A Best production.

*hearT_Place* 13th February 2016 11:19 PM

I'm actually excited about this rerelease. I remember a friend lending me A BEST soon after I started listening to Ayu - it was my first foray into her pre-I Am... music, but I never bought it. I think I might this time around.

chocopockymaster 14th February 2016 02:47 AM

It doesn't really make sense to say things like "Ayu's didn't have the fan made look" when home girl has straight up jacked certain elements of covers, logos, etc. straight from people's fan art. :rolleyes

pimenta 14th February 2016 04:12 AM

damn, I certainly hope that the said image with the pink line has nothing to do with the release cover. A BEST's cover is iconic, everyone knows it. It would make no sense to change it for the anniversary edition. Using the same cover with just that small "-15th anniversary Edition-" discretely under the title is perfect.

THIS.

Pieces_of_SEVEN 14th February 2016 05:59 PM

I actually love it with the pink stripe, but I can see why it shouldn't be the actual cover. Was wondering if she was gonna do the six cover thing again, but glad that doesn't seem to be the case! lol

I'm eager to hear the album remastered. Hopefully I can hear a nice difference!

I meant the polished look and compared to the picture from ayu vouge. And you can clearly tell something is fan edited because a lot of people usually over saturated with colour. Though looking at the website on my PC, I got a different picture this time. The picture I saw from looking on my mobile I can't see any more, that was the one I was referring too, it had a pink line in the centre going from left to right with a rip effect.

No. It's limited and contain: CD, DVD, Blu-ray, T-shirt and photobook. Following your logic I would even say is underpriced, because price of CD is like 3100, DVD like ~6000, BR ~7000, t-shirt (as you said) about 3000 and photobook ~2000. If they would release it and sell separately price for this set would be over 20000.

//ABEST 16th February 2016 11:17 AM

^ i don't think DVD with only 8 music videos would cost 6000¥

oaristos 16th February 2016 05:20 PM

I know it's manmade, but I wouldn't mind the pink stripe on the cover art either, as long as it wasn't as vibrant.

The price of DVD and BR that you say is for the DVD and BR tours.

album+DVD is 3800 and album+BR is 4200 so 3000 for the album + 800 for the dvd and 1200 for the BR are 5000¥ + tshirt 3000¥ + photobook 2000¥ so the total cost will be 10000¥, 1000¥ of difference only.

I think the price of the photobook is 1000¥ instead of 2000¥ because is not going to be a big photobook.

So they finally make you pay what it cost.

Bad Wolf 21st February 2016 08:32 PM

i'm 11 pages late to this party, and this has probably already been said, but i actually think it's a terrible idea to re-release this album. ayu didn't even want this album to exist in the first place, hence that goddamn cover and her determination to re-record some of the earlier singles. re-releasing it now is a classic case of a company missing the goddamn point.

also, if they were so determined to re-release something in a remastered form, literally ANY OF HER EARLY STUDIO ALBUMS WOULD HAVE BEEN A BETTER CHOICE.

oh well. at least there's a new album.

mizuki-7 21st February 2016 09:02 PM

It's false to say that she didn't want this album to exist ! What bothered her so much is the fact she couldn't handle this album like she wanted to do because everything was planned prior her agreement and she thought it was way too early ... but today I'm pretty sure she is proud of this album !
I don't get the disappointment about it ? It's just a re-release nothing more ! I already own the original so I will pass that's all !

Have you ever seen that documentary that was released like, 10 or so years ago about her? It went into some detail on this. She was pissed that A BEST was being forced on her without her input, and because "best" albums (to her) meant someone had reached their peak. That sounds an awful lot like someone who didn't want an album to exist (note the tense).

I already explained my disappointment and lack of interest in this release. You don't have to agree with my thoughts to know that.

At the very least, it's nice that they're remastering the songs! There's a few ASFXX and Duty tracks that might benefit greatly from that treatment.

mizuki-7 21st February 2016 10:59 PM

^
Honestly we are saying the same things ! We just interpret her words differently lol
Yes she was against the release of this album at this precise time not against the idea of releasing a best album but against her company because they didn't asked for her agreement ...that's why I say I'm sure she is proud of it after all !

I agree. It hurt ayu at the time but the album went on to become one of the best selling Japanese albums of all time. It solidified her presence and mark in Japanese music and pop culture forever. She was devastated at the time that she wasn't able to control the release of the best album she always dreamed of, but since then I'm sure she's become proud of the release. I'm sure she even looks back at the rebellious nature of the cover with a sense of pride that her voice wasn't able to be totally quenched.

Also, even if the release at the time was against her wishes, it doesn't mean the content of A BEST is anything to be ashamed of. Those songs are the epitome of ayu's legacy and peak, and I'm sure she's proud of every single song on A BEST.

A BEST is an album I'm proud of as an ayu fan. Idk I could be wrong, but I can't see why she wouldn't be proud as well, despite the tough time the higher-ups gave her.

Zeke. 22nd February 2016 02:20 AM

Although the album was forced on her, she was still able to mold it into a vision. She might have not felt it was the right time to pursue such a release, but due to a chain of events that seemed beyond her control, she was able to force as much "control" out of herself as she could. I think after all has been said and done, she looks back on the album, it's voice, and the message behind it, unable to imagine it culminating differently. I mean, it practically shaped her existence from that point forward; a blessing in disguise!

It's VERY Hamasaki Ayumi, and she was able to achieve a different tone, a more "established" and "glorified" BEST, with it's successor A BEST 2, and to an even greater extent, with A COMPLETE.

pimenta 25th February 2016 02:19 AM

I liked it better with white text, but gold makes sense for a deluxe edition...

lastminute 25th February 2016 03:58 AM

I would love if the gold letters turn out to be metallic or something of the sort, I'm also very curious to see how the deluxe box's design is going to be... I would really like something along the lines of Colours TeamAyu Edition box, but considering with this release we're getting a t-shirt, which are bulkier, I'm guessing that kind of box won't do.

I believe you can order from amazon.jp even if in the states. I think that's how I ordered my USB edition of NEXT LEVEL. I could be wrong but that's what I'm recalling at the moment.

chocopockymaster 26th February 2016 02:34 PM

I prefer ordering from Amazon.jp--they use DHL to ship to the states, it's fast and inexpensive, and you have the option to view Amazon.jp in English so you should be able to figure out the rest from there. :yes

I second this. I only order from TA when there is an exclusive, but then it has to go to tenso and then I pay for that shipping charge...so yeah, amazon is the one I'd go with.

pimenta 26th February 2016 03:22 PM

I prefer Amazon JP as well, but for different reasons. It has nice discounts and free shipping inside Japan, so I have my stuff sent to Tenso and from Tenso to me, because Tenso's cheapest shipping methods seem to be the only way I'm able to avoid taxing here in Brazil... and the taxes are ridiculously high.

Brett.Mason92 27th February 2016 04:50 AM

It costs too much so instead I bought FROOT by Marina and The Diamonds for $10.

I hope the only reason she isn't doing a 2CD with new vocals or demos is because new music is apparent and SOON.

visionfactory 27th February 2016 09:35 PM

I don't think ayu has a word in this release, it seems just avex making money so really don't expect anything

douggn 29th February 2016 02:28 AM

I still find it odd how the international site doesn't still doesn't offer international shipping. Maybe its for the sale totals since the charts don't include ones sold internationally, and being shipped through tenso keeps it in the chart sales in japan

visionfactory 29th February 2016 05:33 PM

^If that was done on purpose it would be very clever to use ayu's intl fanbase to increase her national sales

Gustavopc 29th February 2016 05:59 PM

^
^ The problem is that TA has gone internation but mu-mo has not... And the TA shop is just a part inside of it :( I don't know how close to avex's mu-mo's management is, but it could indeed be a great way to appeal to international fans.

~angel*ayumi~ 29th February 2016 06:26 PM

mu-mo had english site before TA went global, because they noticed that many fans used tenso to order at mu-mo.
Maybe tenso is the reason (or one of the reasons) that TA finally went global, because avex was like "oh look there is someone that deals with overseas shipping for global fans, so we can make TA global now"

Delirium-Zer0 3rd March 2016 03:32 PM

Pretty much. They established their official advertising partnership w/ Tenso because it takes the responsibility off mu-mo/avex to ship from Japan themselves. grumble.

pimenta 7th March 2016 01:19 PM

They're probably going with the logic that if international fans were willing to use Tenso before when it wasn't global, then they won't complain to keep using Tenso now that they made it easier to use it... I'm not sure they realize that, because we still need to use Tenso, the fanclub doesn't really feel global at all in some aspects.
Honestly, I feel global TA is just worth it for fans that are able to attend the concerts, because imo that's the only thing they've actually made easy for international fans, the rest is just the same, or worst (because they don't even send the magazine and goods anymore, they're now sold).

Delirium-Zer0 7th March 2016 04:22 PM

The fact that Tenso exists just allows avex to shirk responsibility. And we can all tell. TeamAyu DEFINITELY doesn't feel global at all. All avex have done is not make us feel unwelcome; they've done nothing to make us feel welcome.

I agree. Tbh the whole site suffers from negligence. You can tell they put little to no effort to keep it going. The Tenso thing is the tip of the iceberg, a very annoying one.

sorry not sorry?

~angel*ayumi~ 8th March 2016 08:37 AM

I guess most of the international fans can´t afford to go to Ayu´s concerts, for them Global TeamAyu is kind of useless.
The TA Goodies on mu-mo are mostly not worth it and TA Versions of Albums are usally very expensive. (Because most of them are bundles with goods or Tour DVDs)

Delirium-Zer0 8th March 2016 02:18 PM

Unlike Pieces, I'll be in thankful appreciative tears when I FINALLY see Ayu live... It's now looking like Japan isn't gonna happen for another couple of years for me (maybe in 2020... not during the Olympics, but later in the year so we can go to the Nintendo stuff at Universal :P). I've unfortunately already renewed TeamAyu for the year, so oh well. Maybe I'll get lucky and SOMEHOW have enough cash for CDL 16-17 even though we moved this year?

Not that I can probably get tickets through TA anyway since Pieces and I didn't really get how it worked in the pre-global TA days, I won the ticket lottery on his behalf once, and neither of us was physically in Japan to get the ticket receipt... TA members are less likely to get chosen in the lottery if they've won in the past and didn't pick up tickets, so I'd probably have to go to a reseller anyway.

So yeah that while ticket lottery system is so messed up anyway. x_x

voltron 8th March 2016 02:22 PM

^ The ticket lottery should be much smoother now than it used to be.

According to a support staff at iFlyer that I dealt with during the TA tour, she said that Avex's process used to be like a cash-on-delivery model, where if you won, you paid when picking up the ticket and exchanging your receipt. Now, you have to pay through iFlyer, and if you don't, your ticket is released back into the pool for the next round lottery. In the past what had happened was a lot of people had won tickets, and then never claimed (and thus paid) for them. So the language in the lottery about not being eligible for future lotteries is just another lazy Avex example of not updating text, as opposed to still really being the situation.

A bit not true on the unpaid tickets being roll over to the next lottery as my friend had dropped 3 tickets for the 18th July concert but the 18th July ticket wasn't available for ballot during the 2nd round. IMO the penalty for not paying the winning ticket is just a scheme to "threaten" people so they don't anyhow bid and forfeit the tickets.

I'm not so sure. For a-nation 2014 I won TA tickets but didn't go through with those because I also won tickets of another fanclub for the same a-nation date and used those instead... Later that year I couldn't get tickets for the CDL for any of the dates on neither 1st or the 2nd try and had to end up buying my tickets on a resale store. But then again, I remember more people here who weren't able to get tickets for that CDL, so maybe it was just a coincidence, idk.

I want one of these! This is my order of preference.
The first here is very nice because it's like a graphic tee you would see in a store.

This.
I would be at least a little better if the t-shits were dark so the square picture wasn't too obvious, but plain white with a square in the middle? Hate it.

Gustavopc 9th March 2016 05:52 PM

^ Count us three. The only one that looks good imo is the one she's covering her mouth and looking right at the camera, maybe cause of the illusion she's staring right at you

Yoake 10th March 2016 12:16 AM

I was sure they would be black and finally, I'm glad they aren't. It looks good in white.

hidekirby 10th March 2016 02:12 AM

I really like their simplicity.

It would have been even better with no text. Just the square pictures.

KPL 10th March 2016 02:16 AM

Why aren't font colors consistent ?

lastminute 10th March 2016 02:43 AM

I don't mind the t-shirts, I wasn't expecting them to be amazing... so yeah, they're ok.
I hope I get the one I want *fingers crossed*

Deep snow 10th March 2016 04:39 AM

Wow the T-shirt designs. It's as if ayu said "Just put the fucking cover on the T-shirt and leave me alone"

//ABEST 10th March 2016 06:20 AM

I wish the cover under the slipcase would be a photo of the present Ayu with the same pose and make-up as the original cover...
That will never happen lol

THey did state this on mu-mo...

I think going for the same layouts is the best choice since the biggest appeal on those reissue stuff is the nostalgia, so they're looking for to make people feel what they felt fifteen years ago. I wonder if there are gonna be CMs for this release similar to the original ones

//ABEST 10th March 2016 11:53 AM

i like that they keep appreciating original one and doesn't ruin it trying to make it like something new

Corvina 10th March 2016 12:35 PM

I do think using the old packaging and poster are a good thing for releasing and promoting a rerelease.
The shirt desings on the other hand are sloppy. Why not fading the edges out to make it a bit more appealing at least?
Everybody could indeed make one at the next copy shop for a good price and quality.

YukiUsagi 10th March 2016 01:38 PM

I LOVE the original cover :love

pimenta 10th March 2016 07:38 PM

I agree that using the same packaging design and poster as the original was the right choice. They're re-releasing an iconic album, best to keep the original iconic design.

Ryusei 10th March 2016 08:16 PM

I wanna work at avex for a week or smth just to see who handles this stuff and how they handle it lol

That'd be amazing. They could even just add this new picture to the booklet, as the last page for example.

The t-shirts are fabulous and are obviously inspired by vintage band t-shirts. Y'all probably wanted some sparkly tacky shit in pink.

js_surrealism 11th March 2016 04:39 AM

^ umm, I fail to see how one needs to be inspired by anything at all to slap an album cover on to a plain basic t-shirt......

Is this a joke? I seriously can't tell. They only thing they were inspired by is the ORIGINAL A BEST COVERS.

Aisha_Angel 11th March 2016 05:50 AM

Smh

I'm gonna need for Ayu to step it up. Those t-shirts look like something I made for fun on CafePress.com. It would've been awesome to just have the entire front cover of the album cover the entire front portion of the shirt with the 15th anniversary written in gold.

Pretty much... T-shirts with an iconic album cover are pretty common among rock band fandom, and this seen to be what they were aiming for this time.
