I love the new vocals so far, no complaints, although I did preview Rock Steady and I'm still on the fence about it, looking forward to seeing how Dr. and What A Feeling sound like. To be honest, this (along with the potential concert lottery entry) have convinced me to buy the album. I also just made the cut off for the fan space version. That makes this my first Namie purchase since...the So Crazy / Come single.

FINALLY! The first 7 songs are everything I needed from life, CYC? is also quite nice, loved Dr., but oh my WANT ME, WANT ME sounded like she had no willingness to enjoy the song hahah! Also Baby Don't Cry was quite bad compared to perfect original version. Some songs didn't need to be changed, but I appreciate the effort and I adore some of the new versions, so all in all 10/10 for me just cos when it hits the right spots, IT HITS!

NEVER END is a slight disappointment for me. I love the updated music but sometimes the new vocals don't sound right and make me want the original vocals.

OMG these new versions are even more of a let down than I expected. I'll gladly stick to the originals. Most of these lack any kind of emotion. W ME W ME is terrible!

Can anyone please say what the mastering is like? I'm waiting for my copy to arrive, honestly the only deal breaker for me would be if the songs were mastered as badly as her recent singles.

Î don't have a really good ear for that but I find them to be disjonined. I'm through CD1 now which was better overall than the few songs I heard, but I don't find the instrumentals and her voice to be that good mastered together. It sounds..I dunno...layerd?

I'm loving how the new songs were redone sort of how "Dreaming I was dreaming" was redone on "Ballada". I also disagree with those saying she doesn't sound as energetic - on the contrary, I really can feel the happiness when she's singing these older songs.

Yes. However at that time she was still with her management company, Rising Productions. Dimension Point just released her CDs, Rising Productions owned the rights to her songs. She officially quit RP and went completely with avex/Dimension Point in 2015, so the idea that she was unable to get the rights to the masters of the songs released prior to 2015 makes sense. Nothing is confirmed though.

Oh, I didn't know about Rising Productions, that's interesting. But Namie has always re-recorded stuff here and there, so I think owning rights was not a problem. Just a thought, tho.

And I can't help it, but the whole thing sounds quite flat to me. Maybe it's the mastering. I usually have no ear for that stuff, but I guess cause it's new versions of old songs, I can notice it? I don't have that much of a problem with the new songs on it. It's definitely not her new vocals alone. I decided to not buy it for now and gonna buy the songs I like digitally. |

People in other forums said a better rip would sound better...yet I don't hear anything wrong with the newer tracks. |
I love that You're My Sunshine includes the "rap" part. Whenever she's done it live in recent years, that part is always left out instead of using playback, so I was kind of expecting her to do the same here (since it's a very dated sound).
