Are there any lyric translations anywhere for the album? Very interested in reading them despite not enjoying the album all that much.

Since late 2016 avex Taiwan has stopped making Kuu's releases (Best Single Collection DVD , Driving Hit's 7 , W Face DVD) which's unfortunate

For AND , avex Taiwan has only make the CD only =(

I was hoping avex Taiwan will make both CD & CD + DVD versions so for them to only make 1 which's not the CD + DVD , I'm surprised

I probably will request my sister to buy the CD + DVD version of AND cos she's going back Japan next week :3

thinkingoutloud89 22nd March 2018 01:02 PM

^I think you are the only one who is sad...just buy the Japanese Version when it is on a discount.

KarenPang 22nd March 2018 01:33 PM

I'm not the only 1 who's sad as other Baidu users are saying the same thing about AND

http://tieba.baidu.com/p/5594116937

Some of the Baidu users wrote in Mandarin that they're not keen to buy AND and also mention this's a terrible situation

avex Taiwan has been making Kuu's releases since TAKE BACK single wise and feel my mind album wise & they used to make all versions of her releases except for Blu-ray

From Can We Go Back in 2010 , avex Taiwan began to only make CD + DVD of her singles and for compilation/studio albums , that started to happen in early 2016 ie. WINTER of LOVE

And now avex Taiwan has stopped making Kuu's concert DVDs too with the last 1 was for The Artist

I worry the day when avex Taiwan completely stopped making Kuu's releases & what has happened to AND , guess I wouldn't be surprised if they're not going to make DNA

Rude lol. Some people can’t afford Japanese press of albums. They’re pretty overpriced. Taiwan Versions are relatively more affordable.

I'm sad too, I don't have a steady income at the moment and it's not always feasible for me to buy Japan press. Getting the OS press is still supporting the artist and the quality is exactly the same. I have to pass on a lot of Kuu's releases because if there's no OS press I pretty much can't afford to buy and my money will go to another artist who has an OS press.

Sorry Kuu, you're too extravagant for poor little me. XD

KarenPang 22nd March 2018 04:44 PM

I think some people assume that Taiwan press is of inferior quality unlike Japan press , that's not true

End of the day you're still buying an official release which avex Japan gave the license/rights to avex Taiwan to make & not a pirated copy

In addition , the cost savings is huge especially for concert DVDs

For example , for Kuu's The Artist DVD , I can buy 2 copies of the Taiwan press with the same amount I paid for 1 Japan press copy so why not ?

Also for past Kuu's album releases , avex Taiwan included bonus items that the Japan press didn't gave away , like clearfiles for Bon Voyage & WALK OF MY LIFE and generally most of the time avex Taiwan kept the bonus items/packaging aspect of Kuu's releases intact so it's a win win situation

thinkingoutloud89 22nd March 2018 04:50 PM

Well, i'm from Germany and I also don't get and extra European-press that is cheaper. There are European CDs (Like Perfumes LEVEL 3) and its just no the same. I also rarely buy CDs new, but there are overall pretty neat bargains throughout the year to hop up on. I just recently bought 4 blu-rays and 12 Singles, new, for around 120 € (Miliyah, but still)

Moreover, I got some Oversea Versions from different countries (with Korean Versions being the worst) in the past and they are different - especially most of them have Mandarin on its OBI and it looks terrible. Some of Ayus singles are just plain white with blue font. Looks hideous.
Oh, and I don't buy DVDs anymore when there is a blu-ray option available.

It is an unfortunate situation, but it just is how it is.

It really makes no sense why they'd abandon Facebook when she has 250k+ followers there. Whoever is managing her social media should be fired tbh. They barely used it to promote AND besides Twitter when her presence on LINE and Facebook is much bigger.

100% Agree with all of this!!!
I can deal withe obis, and some extra text on the back cover though, so I'll still pick up a Taiwan version when they're available (they keep the first press packaging as standard usually too!).
But man, there is just something about the Korean versions that are awful. Those big silver stickers! :no

The last Facebook post was last Oct which was when HUSH was released

Seems like now Kuu's staff are more focused in using Twitter , LINE and now Instagram to drum up her presence online

For a while her Twitter wasn't that active until in recent times

avex Taiwan tends to translate Japanese song titles to Mandarin using Traditional Chinese words & a few times , it would lead to really long OBIs but when you take them out , the back is more or less the same as Japan press

I'm not fussy about the colour difference in the OBIs but I know some are quite picky about it as it can look quite unflattering

avex Hong Kong used to keep the same aspect OBI colour scheme as Japan press but that was a long time ago

Somehow I feel the quality of Hong Kong presses weren't as good as Taiwan press but it's subjective because I found out that the paper quality of both W FACE albums' booklets that avex Taiwan made weren't that good

Anyway end of the day , if I buy something official at 1/2 the price , I take it & somemore I don't have any DVD region code conflict I have to worry about

2.) The sticker was a FC gift once last year. Unless someone is selling of on an auction, sadly no chance in getting anymore.
3.) That's coffee you can buy in every conbini there. From the colours I guess it's Latte.

KarenPang 27th March 2018 06:03 PM

The 2nd promo tie in that ALL RIGHT received definitely helped AND 4th week sales to a certain extent as it sold 1,452 copies this week which's almost double from last week's sales (864)

http://tieba.baidu.com/p/5619176337?pn=2

AND's 4th week sales is even higher than its 2nd week sales which's quite unusual

sora-kara 27th March 2018 06:14 PM

That is interesting! It's been ages since a Koda album actually had a legitimate rebound on the chart following its debut. It's intriguing that Rhythm Zone and her management see ALL RIGHT as a song with strong potential. When I first heard ALL RIGHT, I was surprised that PARTY was picked as the initial promo track.

maze 27th March 2018 08:49 PM

And imagine if All Right would have had an amazing PV with a summery vibe like that last tie-in. It would have been so epic, what a waste of a song :weep

Not a huge fan of the album for right now, GOT ME GOING' is awful, sounds a little LQ for my taste and very noisy; and WHO is also kinda bad, with just the chorus being there. Haven't listen to the whole thing yet, but so far it's not as good as DHits 7 imo.

One month after the release and the ISO from the Blu-ray haven't leak yet, not even the rip from the PVs...

Top female comedian Blouson Chiemi recently posted pictures from one of Katy Perry’s Japanese dates for the international leg of her Witness Tour. In the photos she was joined by a special guest, singer Koda Kumi!

The meeting between the two actually happened by chance, with Kumi calling it a “miracle” in her Instagram post. Kumi casually went to find her seat in the arena only to see that she was seated beside Chiemi.

Both of them seemed to enjoy the show, giving it a good review. Chiemi seemed to enjoy Perry’s performance of Swish Swish, using a basketball emoji in her caption thanking Perry for the concert.

Kumi shared that she originally planned to see the show in England, but scheduling conflicts made her unable to attend. She loved the 80s theme of the tour and was apparently impressed by her live vocals.

The duo posed in front of a Witness tour poster backstage, and Kumi also posted a picture of the impressive looking stage. Reception to the posts was positive, with many of their fans in particular complimenting each others outfits. Kumi went for a more casual, but cool look while Chiemi looked “luxurious” as usual.

Sad to see DH not doing well. Debuted at #27 first day on Oricon and then into the 40s second day. This will be her first DH album not to debut in the Top 20. ..... You do know the drop from W Face to AND won't be any different from Bon Voyage to WALK OF MY LIFE. AND will sell slightly under 21k. That is not a hard drop at all. A hard drop off is what happened with Kana and her 2017 album.

As for the remix album, you seriously weren't expecting a top 20 debut when DH7 barely made it. I say this in the nicest possible way. You're a bit spoiled. Spoiled in the sense that Koda during her starlet days (2005 to 2009) was a juggernaut. Koda hasn't been a starlet since TRICK and we are quickly approaching the 10th anniversary of that release. I'm not sure what you're expecting from a female J-Pop artist pushing 20 years in the business dominated by idol fever.

Corvina 29th March 2018 10:27 PM

It's an overall phenomenon in the Japanese music market with some few exceptions (idols and male solos/bands mainly). Apart from Namie and Finally I don't know any female solo actually rising in sales.
People don't really spend money on music, more on going to concerts and buying merchandise, if at all.
I've even just read a comment on Kuu's fan corner on fb, that a fan wants to buy DH's 8, but doesn't have the money for that.

Plus remix albums never did too well. Kuu's first bunch was an exception, cause they were new for her probably (and Beach Mix cause there wasn't a single or album from her at that time).

The difference though is that back then sales declined from 60k to 50 which you're right isn't all that bad. Assuming AND finishes at 20k, a drop of 8k from 28k isn't very good considering its about a 30% or so drop. I just don't want to see her next album barely selling 10k total. However to be fair it should be noted W FACE had a very solid TV campaign. Nothing near her prime days but still respectable whereas AND had barely a peep outside Twitter.

I would say Kuu was a starlet from 2005 to 2012 as she was still appearing on Kouhaku, MSSL, and was very much in the public eye with the majority of sales still coming outside her main fanbase. It all sort of came crashing down in 2013 when she completely ditched (or was dumped, either side can be argued) her prime-time TV show slots at MS and the year-end shows.

All I would like to see is Kuu staying around the 20k (15k at the very least) mark for albums so we can still get decent MVs like LIT every now and then.

This. I can guarantee you that more than a few fans who got to a Koda concert skip buying the actual physical album.

As Corvina said, post-Kana I can't think of any female soloist to breakthrough in a major way. The industry no longer supports the soloist business model. Even an icon like Ken Hirai has had trouble breaking a certain sales level.

Real talk. After Koda's 20th anniversary, she is going to start missing the top 10 on the album chart consistently. In other words, enjoy these top 10 albums while they last.

Let's not get too carried away lol. If Seiko Matsuda can land all her studio albums since 2010 into the Top 10 (mostly Top 5) then I think Kuu can certainly continue to rank in the Top 10 for quite some time as well.

That's if her numbers hold. Depends on what happens with her 2019 album(s). Given the industry climate, Koda has had a stable decline post-2014. She hasn't had to deal with the same setbacks as Ai Otsuka for example.

I didn't mean to jump on you, Corvina expressed my feelings in a softer way.

kaled kalil 29th March 2018 11:53 PM

Her sales are pretty stable at this point. It's not like Kana's drop of Just Love selling 305k to Love It 135k. This is a pretty good indication of how the physical sales are going down year by year.

lastminute 30th March 2018 12:16 AM

It sucks that Kumi's not getting much attention nowadays, but, as it has been mentioned, pretty much all female solos struggle with the same issue so it doesn't bother me that much. However, personally I haven't connected with her music the past few releases, the last album I enjoyed was WOML. I feel like she's having fun with her music and she's doing what makes her happy (which I 100% support), I just don't like the style of music she's been delivering. With a few exceptions tho, I really liked Bangerang from W FACE and WHO from AND, but that's about it lol
I haven't given up on her just yet, here's hoping that DNA will incinerate my wig.

melissalove 30th March 2018 05:05 AM

Seems like kuu will join misono very soon. I don’t want to see the day when her albums decline to 10k or even worse.

KarenPang 30th March 2018 05:55 AM

I'm not worried about Kuu's current status in the industry cos she has been around for so long & the music climate now is such that it's very difficult for solos to sustain themselves

The only artistes that frankly can still sell considerable amount of physical CD copies are Johnnys (whom do not list their music online for streaming and/or for sale , for now) , girl groups , idol groups & to an extent groups who're under LDH

For solo acts now , selling physical CD copies of their releases is not the only form of revenue that they're are getting from , now it's digital sales of their material , concerts , selling of concert goods & products they come up with which they draw $ from

lovethatkuu&ayu mentioned Hirai Ken also faces this problem which's true & he has been around since 1995 . Ken's physical CD sales ain't as great as before but he still can sell out Arena venues be it his Ken's Bar concept tours and/or standalone tours to promote his releases

So yeah I'm not worried . Kuu is doing just fine despite all this & I will still continue supporting her no matter what

NintendoHTF1242 30th March 2018 06:57 AM

It’s a digital era as well and Kuu puts her music on streaming sites which will contribute to low physical sales but higher digital sales. Physical just isn’t the way to go anymore tbh. As much of a collector that I am.

Corvina 30th March 2018 07:26 AM

It also applies to digital sales. They're lower than their used to be in general for most artists.

On another note avex seems to be satisfied with Kenji's work for Kuu.
Back-On wrote two songs for the band lol from their latest single, one of them being a main song.

And now that LISA is back and active again, I really want her to write songs for Kuu again!
I love one and Pearl Moon and both are by her! ;_;

Btw. cause I think it wasn't mentioned here yet.
From the entries of the new PARTY campaign they're going to do a special PARTY MV.
Hence the name of the campaign.
I have a feeling, they're probably going to use that special MV for the FC tour.

Kumi is so cuteeee *___* !!!!!!!

Corvina 1st April 2018 06:59 AM

From her Instagram.
Kuu is shooting something today.
She doesn't say for what, just that we should look forward to it.

https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/6...923/Pm2iT9.png

Some are speculating it might be for a summer single, but Idk. We didn't get the results of the black and white shooting from the end of December yet as well.
She did record song(s) in February/March, but I'm pretty sure that at least the concept for DNA is already done.

She also showed the full FC Tour pullover on the FC blog:
https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/6...923/S5kNDV.png

lovethatkuu&ayu 1st April 2018 03:34 PM

Thanks for posting. I saw that on her Instagram and was excited. DNA is probably mostly done by this point. I'm thinking a mid-summer release date. The thing I'm most curious about is the hall tour. When will it start and how long will it go on? Will be really interesting if it rolls into 2019.

kaled kalil 2nd April 2018 02:33 AM

One thing that hurts the "general" sales is the FC releases. The drop from JAPONESQUE to Bon Voyage was one of the indications of that (besides the quality of the content, but thats for another day). I think most of her fans would just buy the regular version from the stores, since the FC goodies were usually not that impressive. Only in Bon Voyage she started to do exclusively versions with different content for the FC.

If she cared that much about the sales, she would do what she did during Go to the top release: a tour bundle with album+concert ticket. As far as I remember from SoundScan numbers, Gttt sold less than 10k for the first week (in regular versions), but the Premium Night ~Love & Songs~ version was the one selling and getting the +50k numbers we know. This is what Namie did with FINALLY (a ballot ticket, but it's not that different since it's for a chance to see her last tour) and look what it did for the numbers.

DNA will probably sell more than AND, if its an album for the regular audience, and not like AND, which was something more for the FC.

------------

I'm sad to say but I'm already over AND... I was expecting songs more like HUSH, with a good mix between singing parts and rap, but I was left with a bitter taste in my mouth. I just feel like I didn't connect with AND as much as I would like. For the first listen of the album I was like "okay, it's kinda okay but I might like later on", but as the time goes by I feel more and more like this is not the direction that I was hoping for. I don't know. :(

As far as to expect for DNA: so far HAIRCUT wasn't that different from an AND song, so I don't know how things will turns out. Hoping for more IT'S MY LIFE kind of songs, for sure. :)

As Kuu and her team are usually way ahead, the hall tour is probably all planned and booked since last year already. I expect it to start in Autumn and go till the first months of 2019. I suppose 2019 is going to be a pretty different year in terms of schedule, also because 2020 her 20th Anniversary is coming up.
I'm still jamming to both W FACE and AND and just have my thoughts on the coming FC tour though. ;)

The FC calender design for April is really pretty!

lovethatkuu&ayu 2nd April 2018 02:40 PM

^Oh, I'm always excited about a Koda concert, I should've been more clear. With me, it's having to remember that this is an actual tour for an album and not just "Lets Party 3". It will be interesting how she interprets AND into a live performance. W FACE as a tour was brilliant. How she and her staff captured the essence of the W FACE project was amazing. Definitely one of her best tours hands down.

Corvina 2nd April 2018 03:50 PM

Definitely agree about W FACE TOUR!
As far as concepts and concert flows are concerned it was pretty brilliantly done.
So yeah, considering she never had a new album for a FC tour, I am intrigued about the concept as well!

Concerning her schedule this year ... a-nation dates are aleady announced. They have 6 this year in Mie, Nagasaki, Osaka and Tokyo in late July and August.
I guess she's going to have a small pause in July after the FC tour, attending a-nation in August and then starts her 2nd tour/album cycle.

EDIT:
The new FC magazine is out.
The black and white photo shooting from the end of December is for her Loveil contactlenses:

Just popped in here to say It's My Life is my favourite! Still gathering my thoughts on the album but I am finding DNA to be a step up from W Face for sure but still not hitting the highs of Japonesque, Colour the Cover and Bon Voyage for me, which was my last favourite era from her.

What? Those numbers are alright for a remix album.
Driving Hit's 8 sold more in its first week than Miliyah Kato's new EP...

Isn't that a higher first week than the last Ai Otsuka studio album too? Considering how the last couple of DH albums have just been tossed out there, those are solid numbers.

sitara 3rd April 2018 07:52 PM

i just hope she keeps releasing remix albums, even though I don't enjoy many songs off the last 2 compilations. I'm just glad to get remixes and wish other artists would do the same! :(

Does anyone have the textless version of Dance In The Rain's single cover to be used as a desktop wallpaper? I used it all the time before I got a new computer and lost it.

Corvina 4th April 2018 03:54 PM

I wonder, if Kuu is going to be at the CDTV 25th Anniversary Special on the weekend, considering lots of performers weren't revealed yet.
She was at the CDTV Special in 2016 and still has time now.

KarenPang 5th April 2018 07:28 AM

My sister came back from Tokyo yesterday & on Mon she went to HMV Esola Ikebukuro and helped me bought AND

Here's the entire album credits that I scanned & uploaded

Also thing to note is the 4 photos of Kuu included in the CD + DVD & CD + Blu-ray versions of AND booklet , they're the same just that the text colour used are different

So for CD + DVD , it's teal colour while for CD + Blu-ray , it's purple colour

I guess she's going with the AND album colours for her hair.

KuuXAyu-fan 5th April 2018 02:41 PM

AND update
#207 this week 334 copies sold
18,384 total

Gustavopc 5th April 2018 03:05 PM

^ Nice numbers, a pity the tour won't make it go up much since it's just a FC Tour, with less buzz than a usual tour

That second pic from the rehearsals looks like the VIP choreography, hope she performs it indeed :D

That's a great find!
Haircut is a nice laid-back song, fitting for summer imo.
There are western songwriters writing for the Japanese market after all!

For those waiting the OS version of AND, Avex Taiwan released the CD Only version (AVJCD10698) http://www.books.com.tw/products/0020204966.

I don't know if a summer single is happening, but this reminds me of AT THE WEEKEND original single plan that was replaced by POP DIVA.

KarenPang 6th April 2018 01:17 PM

Somehow 5music Taiwan is the only 1 giving away the poster with the Taiwan press of AND cos I didn't see it mentioned on Books Taiwan and/or Chia Chia Records's websites

thinkingoutloud89 6th April 2018 03:28 PM

"single" can also mean just a digital one or a pre-release
