I definitely like Ayu more, but I really like her ballads and she's a real hard worker. I wish she would write more of her songs, though. It must be tough though, since Japanese is her second language. I really got into her when she debuted especially because she was so new to the language and I really respected what she was doing. I wish she would follow her DO THE MOTION kick and produce more jazzy-ish music like that.

I said "just alittle bit". I use to like her alot but her music is so generic nowadays. I don't listen to pop much anymore either so that may also be a reason why I'm not as big of a fan. Her lastest album "OUTGROW" was pretty bad in my opinion, WAY TOO GENERIC.

I think BoA has progressed so much since she debuted. I love her voice much more now, although some of her older songs are still catchy and fun.

i prefer the older BoA, but i'm not a big fan of her. Nowadays, i'm really starting to dislike her voice, and it feels like she's trying too much since her Girls on Top release. Ocassionaly, i listen to Do the Motion, Quincy, Valenti, Atlantis Princess, My Name, and Spark.

She's cute and seems hardworking, But I don't like ho wmost of her songs are so happy-like.

YES!!! Obviously, I am a big fan of hers (just lookt at the sig and avatar :p) late last year and earlier this year, my liking towards BoA dipped a little since the 3 recent singles of hers (Make a Secret, Dakishimeru and Everlasting) didn't excite me, and Outgrow was a bit of a disappointment for me as well, coming after a great album from Korea (Girls on Top). But her latest single and the PV with it made me become a huge BoA fan again! You guys have to watch the new PV for nanairo no ashita ~brand new beat~. It's the return of the cute BoA from Shine We Are and her Korean releases like My Sweetie, Milky Way and Atlantis Princess!

Some of her songs are nice ... and I admire her dancing. But I'm not a gung-ho fan of hers. ^^;

BoA was actually the 2nd artist I gave a try after ayu. and I've loved her every since!

I like BoA! I think she was really great pre Atlantis Princess. With VALENTI and Jewel Song, I think she got really good! But then she changed her style drastically with her My Name released and I thought Girls on Top was just plain weird. Her recent releases are still good though, I really liked make a secret (I have no idea why everyone keeps labelling this song low-grade), Dakishimeru and DO THE MOTION. Outgrow was a pretty good album for me too. However, the past releases were still better for me. Love & Honesty is probably her best J-pop album as of the moment.

If you are not impressed by BoA's dancing, you are really demanding!! I guess there's no Jpop singer that impresses you in terms of dancing.

I LOVE BoA, lol. She's my no.1 favorite singer ever. I really love her voice though people think its nasal. She's good at hitting high notes and know how to control them. I think her dancing skills are wonderful. I think she's the best dancer in the Jpop/Kpop scene as of right now.

BoA is adorable. She has a lovely voice, especially compared to most of her Japanese contemporaries. I love her "Girls on Top" album. And it goes without saying that the chick can dance her little booty off. VERY talented dancer. But I wish she were given more control of her career.

Yeah. I admit, her Japanese albums do leave me a bit cold sometimes (OUTGROW just felt... weird. Too many slow, dull songs. Plus with all the single releases... WE ONLY HAD FIVE NEW SONGS WHEN THE ALBUM CAME OUT. God. I thought Ayu was bad with this), but generally, her music's VERY strong. Atlantis Princess and Girls on Top are both amazing albums, she does have a pretty voice, she's rather pretty, she can dance like whoa (now if she grows up to become the next Namie Amuro in dancing, then I'll be all <3<3)....

Just she needs to work on the catchier songs. KEY OF HEART and DOTCH are both gone. Atlantis Princess, Milky way, The Lights of Seoul, and MOTO are THERE.

She's kind of really good, but very occasionally great to me. I also advise her never to incorporate any elements whatsoever from My Name in future projects - in music, album packaging, or... hair. God, does anyone remember that hair? Jesus Christ.

I mean, she can dance. She can sing (her voice is getting so much better these days). She's absolutely beautiful - can't say much for her songwriting, but I'd like to see her try a hand at producing/composing/arranging one day if she already hasn't. Her PVs are really very nice.

Honestly, she's won me over. Her, Ku, Ayu, and Oni (Chihiro Onitsuka) are J-Pop heaven to me.


Quick question to the music buffs around here - DO THE MOTION. I know it has touches of jazz, but I also sense a sort of Latin rhythm to it that I can't place... anyone have any ideas? Also, same for With U[ - for some reason, bossa nova leaps to mind, but that can't be it, can it? Any help would be much appreciated since I plan to review the DO THE MOTION single soon (I love that song. OUTGROW is, in retrospect, a very good album minus the horrendous amount of pre-released material).

I like BoA's style, voice, dance moves, and music.:D I can watch and listen to her all day and never get tired of her. My fave song of BoA is Every Heart (Ijust can't get enough of that song!!!:P) Overall, she's my fourth fave singer behind Hikki (Utada), Kuri (Crystal Kay), and Sowelu.:)

Well, Namie's dancing in her PVs are usually smooth also. Like "WANT ME, WANT ME", "WoWa", "SO CRAZY"... While BoA is always edgy. Compare "GIRL TALK" with "MOTO" and you'll see the difference.

What i like in Boa is that she loves what she does and you can see it in lives. She's got energy. Namie seems under drug... like always asleep also in live and her choregraphy are too slow.

You can't also compared Namie's songs with BoA's songs which usually are a lot higher and hard to sing.

Anyway, saying that Namie doesn't show her skills because she is singing is stupid. She has a lot of moments to show her skills, and if she doesn't it's because she doesn't have the level of BoA.I like both, though, but I'm tired of Namie fans justifying her worse dancing in the fact that she sings.

In Namie's defense, it is hard to do really intense dancing (like BoA does) and still be able to sing well. I think she does sacrifice moves for vocals, but then again? I'm just going on... one album here (guess which one), where the vocal melodies are easier to sing along to and tailor made for dancing (although, again, not heavy dancing). The dancing in the PVs for Girl Talk and CAN'T EAT, CAN'T SLEEP (obviously) I'M SICK sucks, though. And she does always look extremely tired. Has she slept at all since 1995?

Well, there are several reasons:

-bland generic pop songs
-bland generic KPOP (I love her ballads, but let's be real, you hear almost every KPOP artist sing very simillar ballads, it doesn't really matter if you listen to them or BoA, the only difference is BoA is more famous)
-Britney Spears dance pop inspirations (we all know how much people hate Britney, and how much quite a good number of BoA songs resembles BS)
-Mish-mash of nonsense. Her trying to sing in several languages sometimes kinda come as awkward, as she really doesn't have much knowledge about some of them *cough*ENGLISH*cough*
-Release freak. (I know how much some people hate Koda Kumi for releasing 800 BESt albums, but BoA is not far behind on releasing a bunch of unuseful albums that are recyclation over recyclation (I've honestly lost the count at how many albums from her you can see ID;Peace B, it can be a bit ridiculous)


I don't hate her for any of those reasons though, but I know some people would.

You took the words RIGHT out of my mouth. I HATE it when people say "OMG BOA IS A PRODIGY, OMG BOA BEST SINGER AND DANCER OUT THERE". You people need to expand your music collection. She's a decent dancer now because she received the best possible training Korea and Japan could give anyone at that time. Her voice is nothing to rave about. In all honesty she reminds me of a better packaged and tighter controlled Britney Spears perpetually stuck in her hit me baby one more time days.

How is it bias when, from experience, I have seen entertainers and known people personally who are younger and have received practically no training yet dance much better than her? If you're going to compare her to other Asian entertainers, yea, sure maybe she's good relative to their dance skills. But I never do that, and if most of the people I know can kick her ass in the dance department, I'm not going to say she's amazing or that she impresses me when I've seen it all before.

I don't hate Boa as a person, I think she's probably a very nice person. I just happen to believe she is VERY overrated.

It seems that you have missed her best dances or you hate her so much that you can't see her talent. The word "decent" just doesn't match at all. But well, it's your opinion.

She's very talented. She understands 3 languages (I'm not sure about Mandarin as she can hardly prnounce it correctly in songs :X) She's a good dancer, and I love when she sings live. Her voice is phenomenal live.

The downside is her recent Made In Twenty album. I wasn't really liking it for the reason that a few of the songs in there (the hiphopish beat songs) were truly awful to me. She wasn't showing her voice to the max like she did in the Outgrow album.

I quite like BoA, yeah. And she does have a strong voice which is nice to listen to. I just prefer a few select songs of hers.
