Madonna saw the first cut of the new video

As previously reported, Madonna's "4 Minutes To Save The World" video is currently in post production and the dead-line is the end of February, the beginning of March at the latest.

Our US collaborator and insider JPSC24 has just heard that Madonna and Guy Oseary watched the first cut of the video, and Madonna had some changes to suggest. Madonna is a perfectionist and always takes part to the whole process, sending feedbacks. She wants the video to be great. And it will be!

The video will be ready for the beginning of March at the latest, and then Madonna's people will be able to premiere it according to their schedule. They could even wait for the end of March, we have been told.

Elle and Vanity Fair cover for Madonna!

With every new Madonna project great magazine covers are released and with the new Madonna album that is coming up it won't be any different.

MadonnaTribe can exclusively report for the first time online details about two of the great covers Madonna will do to promote this album.

Madonna is actually shooting today as we speak a new cover for Elle magazine. This time photographer won't be Giles Bensimon, who did the previous Elle covers, but fashion photographer Tom Munro. We've been told Madonna and Tom are working on the new cover right as we speak today, Thursday February 21 2008. We bet we'll see lots of international editions with different covers shots like it usually happens with Elle, so collectors are warned!

Another great shoot is coming up and this time will be for the cover of Vanity Fair magazine. The big news is that Madonna will be reuniting after many years with Steven Meisel, who did the Sex book, the Like A Virgin album cover and a the Marylin portfolio from 1991. Well as you can see there's never a dull moment with the Queen of Pop.

YES! I love Meisel's work. :D

I was hoping for a Vanity Fair shoot for the new album, so this is good news!

Madden-X 22nd February 2008 01:21 AM

I'm a bit worried for this album... because Madonna is just gonna follow a sound you hear TOO MUCH on the radio. I mean, I respect Timbaland before he became extremely popular (like what he did with Utada) but now I digust him and not to mention that ****-head of a Timberlake. It all sounds the same and yet, the young girls will eat it up even if it was **** (no offense to those who actually do like JT.. just for the music and not the looks)

So I definetelly will have a look at this album... but probably won't buy it or play it a few times in a week like I did with a very ORIGINAL album like Ray of Light and CoaDF

Vinylfantasy 22nd February 2008 01:39 AM

I wouldn't be so quick to judge, she has worked with a ton of big name producers before and produced something amazing and current. Take Babyface for example. She worked with a ton of R&B producers for Bedtime Stories that were all over the radio at the time including Babyface and came up with Take A Bow. That's her longest running #1 hit ever in the United States. The same goes for Shep Pettibone in the late 80's/early 90's. You mentioned Ray of Light and Confessions too and she worked largely with William Orbit and Stuart Price on those. Both of them were very well established and played out before Madonna came in contact with them, especially in Europe.

Madonna is very involved with the production aspect of her music as well. She definitely isn't stupid and won't make something she is incapable of taking on image wise. She is an artist as well as a businesswoman and has been involved with the music business much longer than most of us have been alive for. I think we should just trust her instincts. I know I am. After all, she's doing an album that she wants to do just like she always has been and that got her plenty far.

Madonna, Moore to fill party gap

http://www.loveprofusion.nl/gallery/...0march/03b.jpg

Talk about all dressed up with no place to go: Oscar night is going to see a surplus of guests and a dearth of hosts.

The 14-week writers strike took a toll, both emotional and economic, on Hollywood, but some have used it as an excuse to make cuts -- in deals, in holiday gifts and, apparently, in parties.

The Oscar-night party scene was getting to be pretty predictable, and this is the year that longtime traditions are taking a sabbatical. The net result is that with no Vanity Fair party and other cancelled events, and only about half of those at the Academy Awards invited to the Governors Ball, there will be quite the black-tie mob shuffling in their Jimmy Choo slingbacks seeking food and diversion.

In years past, the Governors Ball was the first stop on a serious round of party-hopping. But this year, there simply aren't many places to hop.

Beyond Vanity Fair's one-year hiatus, other party no-shows include People mag's fiesta; Dani Janssen's affair at her home, which has drawn the likes of Jack Nicholson and Clint Eastwood; and the latenight affair hosted by Rick Yorn and Patrick Whitesell. For the second year, the Elton John AIDS fund-raiser is a viewing dinner followed by a John performance with no after-party (though about 75 nominees and execs have received invites to attend the perf).

One contender to fill this black-tie social vacuum is the party Madonna, her manager Guy Oseary and Demi Moore have put together at the last minute.

Whether this affair becomes an annual event hasn't been decided.

The party, to be held in a home in the Westside hills, will begin around 9 p.m. A few hundred people are invited, although this number will probably expand. One person who's seen the guest list said, "Everybody's on it. It gives the A-list Vanity Fair crowd someplace to go to. It will probably be pared down to where it's 85% talent, not a lot of suits."

But even if this party skims off some of the celebrity cream, the Governors Ball will still be the major draw. "It's the biggest game in town," said one exec. "This is going to put the glamour back into the ball."

Madonna's Oscar Dress?

http://style.blogs.com/photos/uncate.../dresspink.jpg

Jean Yu, a former CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist, tells us that Madonna will wear this dress to Sunday night's Oscar festivities. Usually designers cross their fingers and hold their breath until they see celebrities working the red carpet in their creation on E! before sending out their e-mail blasts. So what makes Yu so confident? "Madonna's stylist Arianne Phillips came into the store last week prepping for a Vanity Fair shoot; that's how she came across the dress." The Material Girl has never worn Yu before, but she's just the kind of designer the trend-setter likes—someone who operates slightly under the radar but who has a killer sense of cut. Remember how Madge made the then-unknown Olivier Theyskens' reputation way back in 1998 when she wore his goth hook-and-eye vest dress to the Academy Awards? Stay tuned.

Thanks to Ant!

Latest on WORLD PEACE ONE

We talked about WORLD PEACE ONE a lot last year... we told you about WORLD PEACE ONE organisers being in talks with Madonna's management. The project has been postponed, maybe due to Live Earth.

And now the press is mentioning WORLD PEACE ONE again now that there is a new date. And it's interesting to read that they are still in talks with Madonna!

Here's what NME says about the charity/social project:

World Peace One
is in talks with many of the world’s top acts to stage a series of international concerts to bring peace to the world.

The shows, which are scheduled to kick off May 17 could feature performances from U2, Madonna, Led Zeppelin and Justin Timberlake, among others.

The not-for-profit group is attempting to bring peace through a 10-year campaign via concerts, education and government initiatives, reports , ZZ Top, Lionel Richie, Celine Dion, INXS, Velvet Revolver, , and Timbaland, are among the acts in talks with the organisation, according to the group’s founder Doug Ivanovich.

The concerts will kick off May 17 with shows in Beijing, Istanbul, Turkey, London, Johannesburg; and Miami, as well as the United Arab Emirates, Portugal, Brazil, Puerto Rico, Colombia and India, the report says.

Concert organisers at World Peace One include former executives from Woodstock and Live Earth and the group are currently building relationships with the world’s top promoters to make the shows happen.

Yesterday was also Frozen's birthday!!!

Frozen, the first single from Madonna's 1998 album Ray Of Light was first released in Europe today, 10 years ago on February 23 1998.

Co-written by Madonna and Patrick Leonard, the song counted on the production of producer William Orbit, who completely reconstructed Leonard's original arrangement and turned it into the magical version we know (a private letter from Madonna to Leonard explaining why she decided not to use part of his work also leaked onto the internet at the time).

The video for Frozen was directed by Chris Cunningham who also re edited some footage from his previous works as video backdrop for the rendition of the song during 2004's Re-Invention tour. The song was also performed live in 2001's Drowned World Tour.

"Madonna’s great. We met two weeks ago in a fund raising event. She’s a generous, creative person who I admire. So, she likes to experiment and she likes contemporary sounds, so no wonder she chose to work with Timbaland. I LISTENED TO A COUPLE OF HER NEW TRACKS AND THEY’RE AMAZING!"

So according to Perez Hilton, Madonna's new album is officially titled Hard Candy. Not bad. Although basing the title on a song which frankly sounds horrible, if the version leaked online in low quality was any indication, might not be the best idea. I really hope they revamped Candy shop so it's not just generic lyrics over weird percussion. At least 4 Minutes sounds promising :)

Madonna's album title, release date confirmed

Posted: 26 February 2008

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...022008-med.jpg

The title of Madonna's forthcoming album will be Hard Candy, EW.com has learned exclusively. The record, her last studio effort for Warner Bros., includes a track called "Candy Store." Madonna chose to stick with the sweet theme because "she loves candy," says her longtime rep Liz Rosenberg. "It's about the juxtaposition of tough and sweetness, or as Madonna so eloquently expressed 'I'm gonna kick your ass, but it's going to make you feel good.'" The album, which features Justin Timberlake on multiple tracks and production by Pharrell Williams, Timbaland, and Nate "Danja" Hills, will see a U.S. release on April 29. The first single, "Four Minutes," will be out at the end of March.

More on Justin inducting Madonna...

Madonna will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 10 by Justin Timberlake. Since that bit of gossip turned out to be true, I suppose I now can share what else I’ve heard.

At the time, I was told the Queen of Pop and the Prince of Pop were planning to perform at the show – presumably “4 Minutes to Save the World.”

The two would rise from underneath the stage, with Timberlake at the piano and Madonna on it.

As of last weekend, though, I heard that plan have been scrapped…but if anything of the sort happens, remember where you read it first.

Hard Candy Tracklist

Sonia Kruger from Australian radio station MIX 106.5 had the chance to listen to the new Madonna album "Hard Candy" in Los Angeles just before she interviewed Madonna. Sonia published the tracklist on her daily blog. Here art the twelve tracks:

1. Candy Store
2. 4 Minutes
3. Give it 2 Me
4. Heartbeat
5. Miles Away
6. She's Not Me
7. Incredible
8. Beat Goes On
9. Dance Tonight
10. Spanish Lesson
11. Devil
12. Voices

Here's what Sonia had to say about the album:

"I quite enjoyed the new album – lots of songs that are relationship-based and there’s this one particular track which is a classic dance track. The first single “4 Minutes” has a great marching band feel to it – loved it! All the tracks have fantastic energy and there’s not a single track on the album that’s not a winner – brilliant stuff. The single will be released in late March and the album hits stores on the 29th of April."

Another song by song review...

The press from all over the world is having an advance taste of Madonna's "Hard Candy" these days, but - as the old adage says - Tribers do it Better - and they have been filled with information, teasers and exclusive previews over the past few months. It's again time to recap - but this time it will be quicker and easier as the album tracklisting is now common knowledge after Australian journalist Sonia Kruger revealed it on the www.mix1065.com.au website today. So here's what the Tribers are already familiar with, along with some more info...

Candy Store: Yes, the same Madonna/Pharrell production thatsuddenly leaked on the net last Summer, and did even got spins on the radio around the world since then. Candy Store is probably the song even the fans who usually remain spoiler-free when a new Madonna record comes out heard about. "You'll have an hard time telling if the first one is any different from the version you already heard" - an insider source told us about the song. The only thing that changed somehow was the song's name - as fans have always been calling it "Candy Shop", but M-Tribe started to set the record straight as soon as the announcement about the new album was getting closer, and talked about "Candy Store" in our exclusive report of February 11.

4 Minutes: Of the lot of songs produced by Timbaland and Justin Timberlake that M-Tribe reported about shortly after they had their final mixing in Hit Studios Miami in November, 4 Minutes is possibly the one with a stronger "classic" Timbaland vibe. The song has an instantly catchy vibe, with percussion layers and hypnotic synthetized pads. While in other tracks of the album Justin can be heard on backing vocals, 4 Minutes is actually a duet as in this song's verse Madonna and Justin basically sing one line each or better answer one to another on a back and forth basis.

Give It 2 Me: A song produced by Pharrell Williams, a very catchy uptempo track that reminds of early Madonna tracks such as "Love on the run". Fans who were worried that this album would be too hip-hop were happy to learn that it's very 80's in its structure and it's pure Madonna. The "Give It 2 Me" phrase has nothing to do with a supposed "sexual content" as rumoured on a few Madonna forums, but it's said in the sense of "I'll handle the situation for you". Pharrell's also singing backing vocals on part of the second verse and Madonna reprises a couple of lyrics from "The Beat Goes On". The break is very strange, the song basically stops suddenly while Madonna says "Don't Stop It" the male voice says "to the left, to the right". This song is currently considered as the second single release.

Heartbeat: The album's 4th track, is the first moment of quiet after a three track sequence of dance stompers. Not exactly slow but rather paced down, the song is another production by Pharrell, who can be heard on the track with whispers and brief interstitials, while Madonna sings the lead voice in the verse and the backing vocals as well in the chorus. The "see my booty get down" part is already set to be a hook - get your forum signatures ready!

Miles Away: Another Timbaland/Timberlake production, that some consider the best of the whole bunch. A hit written all over it and classic Madonna. Full of acoustic guitars, beautiful uptempo, the song structure may recall "Love Profusion" but it's much better. A bit of sadness in the lyrics, talking about a relationship that is at its best when the two lovers are thousands miles apart.

She's Not Me: A unique song, possibly the best of the album, certainly Madonna at her best. "Better to listen to it rather to talk about it. You could even say it's two songs in one, and you'll figure out why when the record hits the stores", we've been told.

Incredible: A recent addiction to the final album tracklisting, Incredible is a rather different song - the longest in the album, running over six minutes. Starts as a bare-naked track and reportedly goes on between a series of breaks ending up being quite dense and somehow loud and noisy.

Beat Goes On: Somehow the second track from the Pharrell recording sessions that leaked on the net on Summer 2007 did not make the album cut as the "new" Beat Goes On is a completely different song, and sounds nothing like the version some of you might have heard. It is much faster, a classic dance track and one of the strongest takes on the record, and it does even feature a special guest.
While Madonna was putting the finishing touches to her new albumat RecordPlant studios in Los Angeles, Kanye West was working on the new Michael Jackson record. Pharrell invited Kanye in the room and Madonna came up with an idea for Kanye to rap on one of her songs on the spot... and thanks to this Beat Goes On got a very catchy rap insert courtesy of "Mr. West" towards the end.

Dance Tonight: A song that sounds like the funkiest song of the lot. You could say it's a dance track from the beginning to the end - there's dance in the title, dance in the theme, dance in the lyrics, and dance in the instrumentation. It has a captivating late 70's - early 80's disco sound - fingered bass, clàps, triangle - recalling songs that made the history of dance as we know it and groups like Kool & The Gang, Skyy, Delegation, even a bit of the early Michael Jackson and huge references to the signature sound of Narada Michael Walden and to the origins of disco-rapping.

Spanish Lesson: Many years after recording "Who's That Girl" and the full Spanish versions of her hits "You'll See" (Veras) and "What it feels like for a girl" (Lo que Siente La Mujer), Madonna is digging back her love for Latin culture as she will be singing again phrases in Spanish in one of her new songs. In this track the Queen Of Pop is going to give Spanish lessons, explaining the English meaning of Spanish phrases such as "te quiero" (I Love you), "callate" (shut up), "besame" (kiss me), and many more. Spanish guitars are of course also present in the song, produced by Pharrel with a nice urban feel.

Devil: Also known by M-Tribe readers only as "Even the devil wouldn't recognise you" this amazing ballad will instantly remind you of Justin's "Cry Me A River" but also of Madonna's "Power of Good-bye" and will instanly hook you up. "Oh, and remember to have your umbrellas ready", we've also been told.

Voices: Produced by Timbaland and Timberlake, and featuring a strings pad that goes along the entire song making the verse and the awesome chorus flow seamlessly. Simply, the perfect song to end the album. Or maybe not...

50 is not a bad word

Madonna says she has "come around" to the idea of being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at a March 10 ceremony in New York City, Jam! Showbiz reports today.
Initially, the 49-year-old Material Girl was hesitant about the tribute that will see her career honoured alongside fellow 2008 inductees.

"I heard about it and I kind of felt ambivalent, like, 'What is that, the place they put musical dinosaurs?'" Madonna told reporters from around the globe yesterday, including Sun Media in a Canadian print exclusive. She has just started promoting her new hip-hop and R&B-drenched dance album, Hard Candy, due in stores April 29.

"I didn't really know what to think of it," she said, "but then lots of people explained to me that it's an acknowledgement of singers and songwriters who have made a contribution in the world of music for 25 years, and so eventually I came around to the idea that it was flattering."

And she's pleased that she will be inducted by one of her Hard Candy collaborators, Justin Timberlake, who co-wrote many of the songs and sings on the new album, including the Timbaland-produced first single, Four Minutes. Timberlake also appears in the video alongside her as two superheroes trying to save the world.

"It was Justin who offered and kind of surprised me, when we were shooting the video -- he said he wanted to be the person to induct me, so to speak, so I said, 'Okay,' " said Madonna, who added how the rest of the induction evening will unfold is up in the air.

"It's supposed to be a surprise for me -- somebody sings one of my songs," she said before adding, "Yikes! No, I'm just kidding. I don't know."

The Material Girl - dressed in a snug-fitting, low-cut black top, black pants and large yellow hoop earrings and yellow high heels -- entered a small conference room at a Beverly Hills hotel late yesterday afternoon and uttered a quiet "hi" before being seated. And for the next 35 minutes, she proved to be a challenging, if funny and thoughtful, interview subject.

For example, if she didn't like a question - such as the one about how her views on life and music had changed in her 20s, 30s, 40s - she'd take a pass.

"That's like a gigantic question - I'm not answering that question, be more specific," Madonna said, before getting the journalist to narrow it down to music. "We'll be here for six hours if you want to know how my views on life have changed over the past 30 years."

One popular topic was of her turning 50 on August 16, which seemed to be a much bigger deal for reporters than Madonna herself.

"It's not a bad word, you can say it," she said when one reporter whispered "5-0."

And when the same reporter asked her about reaching "a landmark for a lady," she made the journalist clarify that to it's "a landmark for everybody."

She said she doesn't see turning 50 as a milestone.

"No, but everybody else keeps mentioning it," she said. "I see it as another excuse to have a birthday party."

In fact, Madonna said physically, "I feel stronger now than, maybe, 20 years ago -- but I think your physicality is connected to your consciousness so if your mind is strong, your body will be strong."

She also bristled when asked how much longer she wants to make music.

"I haven't the slightest idea, everyone wants to know the numbers," Madonna said.

Speaking of which, Hard Candy will be her final studio record with Warner after a 26-year relationship. But she says it's neither scary nor liberating to leave.
Her new, reported $120-million deal with Live Nation includes albums, touring and merchandising.

"It's just the end of my contract and the record industry is changing. And so the way that I make music and the way that I get it out to the people and the way that we market it and release it will also have to change," she said. "I'm excited about my new deal because it's more of a partnership, and after 25 years I feel like I deserve to be a partner."

'Hard Candy' - Japanese bonus track

On February 1 MadonnaTribe brought to its readers more news about Madonna's long awaited new album, reporting that the Queen Of Pop's new record was set to contain a song titled Ring My Bell.

The song is not a cover of the popular 1979 disco song by Anita Ward but a totally new and original track where Madonna explains what you have to do if you wanna talk to her.

After the original track list for the standard album has been cut down from 13 to 12 songs, we have learned that "Ring My Bell" is going to be the bonus track on the Japanese release of the album.
So Madonna collectors that's an edition you can't miss!

OMG.

It sounds like a hit, but the brass is too prominent - might be because of the poor quality though. And dear Mr. DJ, stop talking. lol

The verses are kinda mediocre but the chorus is gold. And I think alot of the strength of the song is not in the melody per se, but rather the background music which we can't even hear that well in the file. Anyway, considering my doubts about her musical direction, it's not bad. And that track-by-track review just posted is very encouraging since the reviewer refers to at least 4 songs as the best on the album haha

NEW album, new tour, new kids. As she rapidly approaches 50, life is not slowing down for Madonna.

In an exclusive interview with The Sunday Telegraph in Hollywood yesterday, the Queen of Pop revealed her plans to adopt another child.

And despite being known for her tough, no-nonsense demeanour, she spoke of being nervous about the release of Hard Candy, her 11th studio album, which will be available internationally on April 29.

While the singer agreed it was time she toured Australia, she was playful about what it would take to make her sign on the dotted line.

"How bad do you want me to be there?" she said at the exclusive Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills. "There's a chance. It's been a while. It's the least I can do."

Madonna, the best-selling female singer of all-time, suggested a welcome party would lure her Down Under.

"Are you going to throw a party for me? All right, no didgeridoos though, OK."

Madonna's last Australian tour was the successful Girlie Show in November 1993.

Promoter Michael Chugg said Madonna's 2008-09 world tour plan, including Australia, "will happen".

He said: "It is being talked about ... and there is a promoter trying to put it together."

Although lighthearted and relaxed throughout the interview, her age - she will turn 50 on August 16 - was not a laughing matter with Madonna's publicist, who warned the star shouldn't be asked about her it.

She was, however, happy to talk about her pride at her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next week.

"It's 25 years of writing, producing and recording," she said. "That's a long time to do a job well, I might add. "So, yeah - it's a great sense of accomplishment." The Sunday Telegraph was given an exclusive preview of her new album - and it certainly signals a new hip-hop-driven direction for the singer.

She collaborated with Justin Timberlake, Timbaland and Pharrell Williams. The first single, Four Minutes (To Save The World) hits radio this month.

"I'm very anxious and nervous and hopeful that people will like it," she said.

She is also releasing a feature film (Filth And Wisdom) and a documentary (I Am Because We Are), which tells the story of her adoption of son David Banda from Malawi.

"I would love to adopt more and I hope that as many people as possible see this movie," she said of the film, which will have its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.
"It is very emotional."

The Material Girl also told of her soft spot for Aussies.
"I'm very fond of some Australians. Australians are usually quite funny people."

The nanny who cares for her children - Lourdes, Rocco and David - is also an Aussie. Madonna, called for jury duty after holding a post-Oscars party in Los Angeles last week, said David had a "funny American, English, Australian accent" thanks to the nanny.

Hard Candy official press release

HARD CANDY' DELICIOUS NEW MADONNA ALBUM SCHEDULED TO BE RELEASED ON WARNER BROS. RECORDS APRIL 29th

28 February 2008, Burbank, California--Madonna's 11th studio album for Warner Bros. Records "HARD CANDY" is scheduled to have a global release on April 28th and a US release on April 29th, it was confirmed by her label. "HARD CANDY" (the follow up to Madonna's "CONFESSIONS ON A DANCE FLOOR" which debuted at No. 1 in 30 countries and sold over 8 million copies), has been described as a brilliant up-tempo collection of 12 songs in which Madonna remains ensconced in club mode but this time adds an urban hip hop beat in collaboration with musical partners Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Pharrell Williams of The Neptunes and Nate "Danja" Hills. The debut single, the pulsating "4 Minutes" will be released at the end of March.

"The title is a juxtaposition of tough and sweetness...kind of like I'm gonna kick your ass but it's going to make you feel good. And of course, I love candy" laughed the material girl.

Madonna, a multi-Grammy-award-winning singer, songwriter, producer, cultural icon, world renowned stage performer, video visionary, children's book author, director and documentary film maker has sold 200 million albums in the course of her unprecedented two decade plus career and is slated to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 10th.

Iggy & The Stooges to Perform for Madonna at Rock Hall Ceremony

According to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Iggy & The Stooges will perform for Madonna at this year’s induction ceremony. The choice of the Stooges may raise some eyebrows, but isn’t as strange as it seems: both the band and Madonna are Detroit natives, and Iggy Pop opened for Madonna at the Dublin date for her Reinvention Tour in 2004.

Other performers scheduled at the induction ceremony, which takes place next Monday, March 10th, at New York’s Waldorf-Astoria Hotel: Damien Rice (for Leonard Cohen); James Cotton (for Little Walter); Patti LaBelle (for Gamble & Huff); plus John Mellencamp and the Ventures, both of whom are being inducted.

More details and confirmations on ''Hard Candy'' from Sweden!

Swedish newspapers mainly just repeat what we already have read from international sources, but newspaper Aftonbladet got their own interwiew with Madonna, and here’s some exclusive stuff, which also confirm more exclusive details exclusively revealed here at DrownedMadonna.com on December 3 and 4, 2007...

The opening words in the song "Voices" are: Master and slave. Madonna explains that master and slave refers to your own ego, who’s in charge. Is it the ego, or are you a slave under your ego? As you can see, ''Voice'' is indeed the song that Madonna described as a "psychological mind *****", as DrownedMadonna.com exclusively revealed reporting about the album listening party on December 3 and 4, 2007. ''Voice'' questions who is the master or slave, if you're walking the dog or the dog is walking you, we added.

Continuing discussing song titles, Madonna reveals that the title for the song ''She’s Not Me'' came from when she, Justin and Pharrell sat down and threw around some ideas, concepts and phrases. Pharrell came up with "She’s not me, she doesn’t have my name", and Madonna wrote the rest of the song based on that.

When the journalist mentions that Madonna has worked a lot with Jonas Åkerlund, and also a couple of times with Johan Renck, Madonna replies "I can’t get rid of those Swedes''.

Madonna is asked if she will work with them on videos for the new album ''Hard Candy'', and reveals that she has been talking with them about it, but nothing is planned right now. "But I’m sure it will happen, because I love both Johan and Jonas."

Pharrell Williams about Timbaland tracks for ''Hard Candy''

As producers, though Williams and Hugo have kept the Neptunes brand name intact, they’ve tended to work apart more in recent years. Williams, for example, recently finished some songs for Madonna’s upcoming album, Hard Candy, an assignment that put his material head-to-head with another Virginia Beach native who has reached the innermost circle of pop importance: Timbaland. If Williams seemed less than enamored of the spotlight during his solo career, he clearly relishes the chance to compete with his old friend (prefame, he and Timba were briefly in a band together) and perceived rival.

"His tracks [for Hard Candy] are crazy," Williams says with a laugh. "I couldn’t **** around. I had to come with it."

Exclusive Q magazine review of ''Hard Candy''

Q was treated yesterday to an exclusive preview of Madonna’s upcoming album, Hard Candy. On the basis of the five tracks we heard, it sounds exactly like you’d expect a collaboration between Madonna and such super-producers as Timbaland and The Neptunes to sound: a slick, ultra-modern urban dance concoction. As has become customary for a Madonna album, it will be launched with a terrific lead-off single in the shape of 4 Minutes.

Produced by Timbaland and co-written with Madonna by Justin Timberlake, who also pops up on guest vocals, 4 Minutes rides the same sort of spare, sinuous groove as Timberlake’s SexyBack single. Here, rather than proclaiming to return sexy to the global arena, Timberlake intones "Madonna, Madonna" over a pumping opening beat, before the pair join forces to suggest they have but "Four minutes to save the world". Naturally, the track clocks in at precisely four minutes.

Elsewhere, Give It To Me, which features Pharrell Williams, is a typical slice of Madonna dancefloor pop, its sashaying groove given a smart upgrade by The Neptunes production team. Two other Pharrell contributions, opening track Candy Shop – with Madonna rather unsettlingly suggesting to listeners that she has "all sorts of Candy" on offer – and Incredible ("Sex with you is incredible," heaves our Madge) see similar makeover jobs being done on Madonna staples, the latter more strikingly so on initial listens.

Patently, no ’Madonna goes urban’ project would be complete without the presence of Kanye West, and the shy, retiring one pops up to deliver a self-aggrandising rap (no, really) on Beat Goes On, a maddeningly insistent track likely to follow 4 Minutes onto future Madonna hits compilations.

Hard Candy will be released on 28 April. Q understands that Madonna is likely to undertake a world tour later in the year.

Album Tidbits

The excitement over Madonna's new album is growing more and more, and more album trivia and tidbits are just in to tease us fans eager to bite Madonna's Hard Candy". We've learned that...

"Hearbeat" does indeed start with the sound of a heart beating (and wouldn't it be very cool if this one turns out to be the sound of Madonna's own heart?).

The vocoder is back in the final section of the song "Give It To Me" that ends with the wind blowing.

"Incredible" is the longest song on the album, with a running time of over 6 minutes! "Devil" starts with a melancholic piano solo and that the last thing you'll hear when the album ends is the sound of a bell stroken at the end of "Voices".

"This album is incredibly rich from a musical point of view", a source tells Madonna Tribe. "You can barely find a song with a traditional verse-chorus structure, most of the tracks have a more complex set-up with bridges, alternate verses and pre-choruses."
"And the best part is that Madonna is actually singing on most of them, with a magnificent, prominent voice.

From what we hear - just to mention one song - Madonna performs four different melodies in "Voices" - no matter if this is one of the album's shortest tracks, and she sings them one right after another in an amazing sequence of music and lyrics.

New quote from Dazed&Confused Interview

"I think that life is a paradox and you have to embrace that in your work and your belief systems... you can't be a literalist, and thats the trouble that people always find themselves in. Thats why people always hit a wall with any of my stuff, because you can't take it literally." - Madonna

I think so too! I think she looks a bit more sultry in these though.

More ''4 Minutes'' remixers revealed

MadonnaTribe has heard more exclusive news about the DJ's and producers who have been commissioned to remix "4 Minutes (To Save The World)".

Madonna's new single has received a remix treatment from Tracy Young and Bob Sinclar, who join Peter Rauhofer and JunkieXL as remixers of the debut single off the"Hard Candy" album.

Tracy has created one of her signature Club Mix versions, while Bob Sinclar's production includes a very cool, uptempo remix which keeps the original lyrics by Madonna and Justin and even some of Timbaland's ramblings, but turns the hip-hop track into a genuine dance anthem which has also been cut in a friendly Radio Edit.

News is also in with further details about the work that Tom Holkenborg aka JunkieXL did on the song - as his versions include a cool and totally different "Boy/Girl Dub".

New York Post reports new magazine interview

In the following New York Post article we discover there is going to be a new Madonna interview on Interview magazine coming out next month.

Madonna didn't even know where Malawi was before adopting a son from the African nation in 2006, she says in a new interview.

The "Like a Virgin" singer gets touched for the very last time by Ingrid Sischy in the departing editrix's final piece in next month's Interview magazine.

The Material Girl waxes idealistic as she talks about Malawi - admitting that she had to look it up on a map - her documentary, her children and her new album.

Her documentary on Africa starts with a woman calling her up randomly and begging her to help Malawi.

"You say that you felt embarrassed because you didn't know where Malawi was," Sischy says. "And she [the caller] tells you to look it up on a map and hangs up."

"Yeah, and I went there," Madonna jokes.

Discussing how the big M got heavy hitters like Bill Clinton, Bishop Desmond Tutu, economist Jeffrey Sachs and anthropologist and "genius grant" recipient Paul Farmer to appear in her film, Sischy asks if she had to dole out any "benefits."

"No," the singer laughs. "No sexual favors either."

She said going to Africa and seeing harsh poverty has benefited her kids.

"[It's important] my children see and experience that on a regular basis, so that they understand they breathe rarified air, and that it's their job to share what they have with other people," said Madonna.

Sischy has been editor-in-chief at Interview magazine - which was founded by Andy Warhol in 1969 - for 18 years after being recruited following the Pop Art icon's death in 1987. She has chronicled the lives of the rich and fabulous from Donna Karan to Lindsay Lohan to Elizabeth Taylor.

Madonna's Still Fighting

www.pagesix.com posts this exclusive new shot of Madonna by Steven Klein, along with a preview of the new interview to be published next month on Interview Magazine.
The image will be probably featured inside the magazine to illustrate the interview.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...08_madonna.jpg

And in this corner, Madonna: 49, married lady, mother of three and still fierce in some glorified undies.

With an album dropping in late April and a documentary about Malawi, I Am Because We Are, due to be released this year, the not-so-material-anymore girl sat down with Interview magazine's Ingrid Sischy for her final issue, to talk Africa, albums, and freedom. Read on for excerpts!

On working with Justin Timberlake: "I really enjoy writing with Justin...We had psychoanalytic sessions whenever we wrote songs first. We'd sit down and we'd start talking about situations. And then we'd start talking about issues or problems or relationships with people. That was the only way, because you know, writing together with somebody is very intimate...that was fun, because he's open and he's got talent. He's a songwriter. I haven't worked with a lot of songwriters where I'm instantly connected and start riffing and playing with the rhythm of the words. He's as interested in the rhythm of the words as the meaning of the words."

On adopting her son David: "He wouldn't have lived if I hadn't taken him. It's not even a possibility."

On gaining perspective: "We live very comfortable lives, and unfortunately, we have to have our noses rubbed in other people's pain and suffering to realize how much we have and how much we have to be grateful for."

On bringing daughter Lourdes with her to Malawi: "She spent several weeks working in the orphanages, particularly one with newborn children, and most of them were HIV-positive. She so came into her own and was so responsible and stayed for eight hours every day and worked tirelessly. I thought, why am I babying her so much? She's capable of so much more. We don't let kids do anything. We think, Oh, they're kids -- they can't take care of other kids; they can't do this; they can't do that. And after you go to Africa, you drop all that silliness."

On freedom: "Freedom is a funny word because when we think we're free, we're not really. I think freedom is quite illusory....When I stop thinking about myself all the time and put other people before me on a regular basis, that's real freedom. When I can love unconditionally...then that's real freedom. So it's something to strive for, but I'm not free."

Madonna takes us into a new era

'80s and '90s, and she's certainly deserving of being honored." Henke points to Madonna's music, her incorporation of dance elements and her mixing of styles that influenced lots of performers that came after her.

Her biggest contribution, though, was her music videos.

"Madonna takes us into a new era," says Rick Krim, VH1's executive vice president for music and talent programming. "As the years go on, the new eligibles from the MTV era will be different from those who came before them. They will be different from the Ventures or the Dave Clark Five. And Madonna emerged as one of the icons of the video era."

When Madonna made her debut in 1982 with the dance single "Everybody," she seemed like just another dance-pop singer, like the countless ones who would follow, from Regina and Martika to Stacey Q and Pebbles.

Once she figured out how to use music videos to sell her image as well as her songs, Madonna, with the help of MTV, was soon in a league of her own.

Established performers who adapted well to music videos improved their careers, but Madonna was the first superstar to be launched on MTV.

"Other acts, like Michael Jackson or Prince, saw their careers taken to another level by videos on MTV," says Krim, who worked at MTV in its early days. "Madonna was born there. She always pushed the limits. Her videos never looked like something somebody else did. We always took everything she did really seriously and we still do."

Starting with "Borderline" in 1984, Madonna turned her videos into events. Teenage girls - dubbed Madonna "wannabes" - quickly copied her various styles, from the crucifixes to the rubber bracelets to the mesh shirts and the underwear as outerwear trends.

Madonna videos became just as important as the songs they represented, sometimes becoming more attention-getting than the songs, either with the controversial "Like a Prayer" and "What It Feels Like for a Girl" clips or the artistic, culture-shaping videos for "Express Yourself" and "Ray of Light," which influenced video and filmmaking styles.

"She is still a musical and cultural icon," Krim says. "She's always finding a way to impact culture and changing with the times, someone who, despite having plenty of exposure, still has a mystique about her. She's a smart woman and done an amazing job managing that career and still having people wanting to see more and hear more. She's not settling back and relying on what she's done in the past. She's always looking ahead."

While induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is seen by many as the culmination of a career, Madonna is still moving forward with hers.

Her new album, "Hard Candy" (Warner Bros.), due next month, includes a rumored duet with Justin Timberlake, who will induct her into the Rock Hall. And Krim says it continues the Madonna tradition of pushing the envelope.

"It sounds great - it's very 2008," he says. "But it's still very Madonna. She's growing with the times. She's not an oldies act. There's still a lot of anticipation for her new album. Every time she releases a new video, it will be an event and we're going to treat it that way. I believe MTV will, too. She still has a place on MTV and not many 49-year-old artists can say, that even though a lot of them would like to."

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction takes place Monday at 8 p.m. in New York. VH1 Classic will air a live simulcast of the event beginning at 8:30 p.m.

MSNBC revealed more excerpts from Interview magazine

Timberlake and super producer Timbaland are both featured on 4 Minutes, the first single from Madonna's new album.

She told Interview, the song is a wake up call.
"It's kind of a funny paradox," she said. "It's like we're saying, 'We're running out of time. People, wake up.' But if we are going to save the world, can we please have a good time while we're doing it.'"
Madonna also spoke about working with Kanye West, who is featured on a cut titled, Beat Goes On.
"There was a big sense of urgency [with that song]," she said. "Kanye only had four hours. I had to finish it before he had to catch an airplane. But you know what? Right now, I'm operating in the mode of 'live every day like it's your last day.' So there's a sense of urgency in everything I do."

Pharrell talks about Hard Candy

Her upcoming album promises to venture deeper into uncharted creative territory, via hip-hop-savvy, club-thumping songs.

"Hard Candy" is "one of the best albums in years," says the Neptunes' Pharrell Williams, who collaborated with Madonna on a couple of new tracks.

Other contributors to the project include Timbaland and Justin Timberlake, who is set to induct Madonna into the Rock Hall. (For unspecified reasons, she won't perform at the ceremony, leaving fellow Michigan natives Iggy Pop and the Stooges to do a number or two in her place.)

Madonna "worked me to death," Williams says. "But you know what? I'm glad I was pushed, because it's some of my best work."

I'm actually really excited for the premiere of the 4 Minutes video. Those screencaps look really promising. I'm really hoping she'll come to Boston when she tours though. I missed her during the Confessions Tour since I was in Japan when she went there, but if she does for this tour, I'll be sure to go.

UK News of the World review on this blog:

Quote:

Madonna has long been known as the Material Girl. But we're crowning the Queen of Pop the queen of new material judging by her forthcoming album Hard Candy. It's not due out until April 28 but Rated can bring you a world exclusive preview. And Madonna has pulled it out of the bag again. She has worked with the hottest songwriters and producers in the world, including Justin Timberlake and Timbaland, to achieve a bang up-to-date dance sound. Her last album Confessions On A Dance Floor in 2005 was filled with great disco classics such as Hung Up. Madonna 49, now takes that to the next level with the first single, 4 minutes, setting the tone for the album's fresh flavour. Producer Timbaland, who co-wrote the song with Madonna, raps over a pounding hip-hop drumbeat about the world "running out of time." And she can't even be heard until 53 seconds in-when she yells: "Are you ready to go?" Packing an incredible amount of hooks into, yes, exactly four minutes, Madonna even repeats the "Tick tock tick tock" refrain from Hung Up. The single gets it's Radio One play on March 25, and can be dowloaded a day later. It'll be a miracle if it isn't No. 1 that week. But if this is a great single, the it's likely follow-up is even better. Give It 2 Me is produced buy The Neptunes-aka Chad Hugo and R&B singer Pharrell Williams, who co-writes half of the album. It's a sensational mix of classic Madonna pop with darker, 100mph hip-hop beats. It's infectious and single good enough to rival anything from Madonna's career as she sings "No one's going to stop me now." We don't doubt it. There's a squelchy keyboard riff that indie darlings Kasabian would kill for, and a mad, brilliant moment halfway through when it suddenly stops for what sounds like a thousand doorbells going off at once. "Give me a record and i'll break it," teases Madonna, and this sets the stage for 2008's hottest song so far. The Neptunes also produce Candy Shop and Heartbeat. Many of the lyrics are about Madonna's love of dance music, but Candy Shop is a cheeky sweet-as-sex pop song reminiscent of Madonna's old hit Ray Of Light. Heartbeat, the other song Rated heard at a secret playback, is another magnificent club anthem. Madonna teasing: "See my booty get down" was the only duff bit, but it's rescued by yet another burst of military percussion and a sweet moment when she sings: "When I dance I feel free." The rest of the 12-song album includes a cameo from rap superstar Kanye West and a pair of slower songs to allow listeners to catch their breath. Madonna may turn 50 in August but Hard Candy is more like an amazing debut album, as hot as anything young pretenders such as Rihanna or Robyn can create. And the songs will be incredible to dance to when Madonna tours. Please can you announce some gigs soon, your Madge-sty?
I really hope the album turns out to be as good as the first reviews make it sound.
