550k is not a good number for ayu. avex needs to do more promotion.

I think Ayu should re-release A Song for XX this year or next. Or at least re-arrange/release poker face, because it's her first single. I'd really like to hear that as a remade version. I'm sure it will sound awesome. <3

And about what she should do to sell better; release albums as CD Only, CD+DVD and CD+2DVD like Koda Kumi, or make some new themes for TV dramas like Hikki did with her Flavor of Life song. :3 I would like these both ideas a lot, it would work fine. :)

But I don't really care about the sales or position or her fame, because I'm sure people does respect Ayu even if her sales are less than 100,000 per album nowadays. I think, for her, selling over 500,000 is awesome thing. :> She's not selling as bad as I thought she would be. But she's still Ayu, even she doesn't sell over a million per album like in 1999-2004 she did. ^^

Only a HUGE miracle can make her as popular as she was in 2001/2002, and it's nearly impossible. I guess that if she performed the new song in shows, it would sell a bit better, I doubt more than 20~30 k better tough. I don't want to see Ayu release an album that has more bonuses than actual good songs, those bonuses aren't helping neither Dong Bang Shin Ki nor Kumi to sell much more than they actually would considering their current levels of popularity. Sure it's nice to have a best of album with extras, but studio albums should be about songs, and I like the fact that people like Ayu, Hikki and Shimatani are putting the music in the first place.

If there was a thing I'd like her to do, is a short movie for A Song For XX ~ And then XD, the first part could reflect Ayu's childhood, the 2nd her falling in love and changing her mind, about running away alone, and well it would be nice if there would be at least another one to conclude the story XD. And soo nice to at least release a SPECIAL standalone DVD with newly recorded PVs of the old songs (the ones that had no PV or just the CMs), though that will probably never happen.

I agree about the DVD with PVs of songs without PVs previously released. She could do like 1 / 2 songs per album from A Song For XX to GUILTY!

and I agree with Kashoku she's far from being "rock", I always tell this to a friend who can't stand ayu's "rock" music... he says it's to heavy for him (he prefers ballads lol) but really!! the closest she's been to "rock" was with "hummin 7/4" :P. ayu does.. Heavy Pop! lol.

The closest thing Ayu have to real rock is either Talkin' 2 myself or Humming 7/4, or maybe 1 love. I would say it's probably more pop with an edgier arrangement, because the composition of the songs are still pop fundamentally.

I like her rock-influenced songs way more than her pop songs, because although I think her pop songs are catchier initially, they hold less replay value (there's a few exceptions, like immature, Ourselves, Surreal, and Angel's Song).

I don't mind if Ayu just sells around 500K every album, because then she gets to make the music she wants to make (like while her singles are more mainstream, her album songs seems more experimental) and not have to worry about selling huge.

im looking forward to see other sides of ayu.

Today GUILTY is #44, not a big drop in position at all!
Usually after an album of ayu is 40 it drops out off the top 80 or even 100 but it looks like GUILTY can have another week on top 50!

lol i know its gradual =) but like t2m was just O_O! lol It was REALLY gradual before so I didn't mind but now its so noticable T__T! lol I guess u guys do have ur point tho about how she's not that rock influenced yet =P but still XD! kingdom will most likely surpass GUILTY. GUILTY is now at #44 and Kingdom is still at #5..so it means that it's sales index is increasing at a much faster rate than GUILTY and moreover Kingdom is only 50k from GUILTY...so..yea; it can surpass..but it will not do that well in the album charts either.

However im already satisfied with how well GUILTY is doing now..it has decent sales and i hope that it will break 600k :P

NO, the overseas sales are probably bigger, might have even reached a million by now. Or at least close to a million. But I guess we'll never know for sure. And I am happy with GUILTY's sales, I mean "even" KINGDOM isn't going to sell more than 800 k at this rate, which means that Ku's sales dropped by half XD in a year. Which means she is fallowing the BoA pattern, which means she isn't gonna be POP for a long time, while AYU is still going strong after all these years.

I think Taiwan's numbers are fake. The past 2-3 years, the highest selling album there was ~250-300k and I think (m)u sold around 80k there.

Yesterday when I went to cdjapan, Guilty cd only version was in top 10 of the daily chart (I think 6th?) and first press was still available...gold and silver was also in top 20...Asia tour 07 topped the chart...today they updated the chart...even though guilty was no where to be seen, the first press is sold out. Gold and silver disappeared again and asia tour 07 still remained on the chart but ranked lower. Yesterday was weird...seeing how guilty, gold and silver suddenly appeared on the chart.

The sales didn't drop much, I guess in 2 weeks it will pass 560 k for sure. IT has a slight chance of passing 600 k mark, but it's can't beat Secret for sure. But I am happy with the sales, overall, considering that it didn't really have a huge hit single (Secret at least had BLUE BIRD), nor a whole bunch of extras. go Ayu!
