No one in their right mind thinks that Together When... is the same as her original singles. It's just an album track that was released earlier to promote the album. Even her own official website classifies it as different.

Face it, Together When... was not a real "single release" and thus, doesn't count. [unless you're stubborn about it.]

GRACE 6th August 2008 02:11 AM

It still counts, officially, as a ballad-lead (digital) single.

Together When...was just like JEWEL. The only difference was that it was made available for download earlier. If it was considered a single then it would have been on A COMPLETE I think.

I want something new and experimental. Ayu needs to appeal to a new fanbase while pleasing her normal fans at the same time. Obviously Ayu capable is doing that. :yes

While Together When... had an official release from Avex, it's basically just like any early leak of an album track. It's not part of her single discography because it was not released on a 'disc' until GUILTY.

Lots of people went "wtf" at Bold & Delicious when it came out, but I'd like her to do another song in the same bombastic style. End the year with a bang :yes

MissElin_ 6th August 2008 10:16 AM

Well, I still consider TW... as a real single. Cuz it still was released, even if it wasnt on disc. But it was still a single. http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance...ther-whe_music
It still had a CM for it, its classed like a digital single release. The only diffrence is that it wasnt printed on a disc. Thats why I still think TW... as a single.

And sure, it was used to promote GUILTY but isnt all singles doing that, in one way or another?

But sure, its not included on A COMPLETE. So I dunno. I still consider TW... as a single. ^^

And I want a reaaaal cool song. Like SURREAL goes INSPIRE goes Startin'. That would be awesome!

It has a CM because it's a "mu-mo" / music.jp tie-up song. Much like JEWEL when it was 'released'. mu-mo is in quotes since it's not really a tie-up.

Here is JEWEL's mu-mo CM that was made before release of Secret. Does it mean that JEWEL was a single? Not really.

MissElin_ 6th August 2008 03:43 PM

Haha, yeah sure you win that one. ;)
But what about the others? Why did they come out with TW... as a single release if it wasnt a single? Why did the official website even bother to call it a digital single release if it wasnt in that case? JEWEL wasnt a release in the same way.
Thats why I still consider TW... as a single, cuz Avex put it out like a single release. It just wasnt printed out on disc. Thats the only diffrence right?

freedreamer 6th August 2008 03:54 PM

JEWEL could have been her first digital single as well...TW... has started the trend...
so wadeva the case....she stilll uses a ballad to promote an album...
so, I prefer singles to be Upbeat

JEWEL wasn't called a digital single, Together When... was. JEWEL was simply promoting Secret. Together When... was promoting itself and GUILTY, like a single. It may not be as powerful as a physical single, but it doesn't make it any less of a single because it was released digitally... If it was like JEWEL, then it wouldn't be billed as a Digital Single, it would have just been billed as "Preview of Guilty" or something along those lines.

I personally don't want a ballad to lead the single, I'm fine without one to be honest. I want something with a bit of energy and attitude, like Mirrorcle World was full of <3~

ayumi.hamasaki.gulity.08 6th August 2008 06:05 PM

I Can't Wait For It To Come Out
:D XD Kasumi

ayumisrael 6th August 2008 06:05 PM

I agree Together When... is pretty much a digital single for everything.
It just got promoted more than JEWEL and other promotive album tracks that weren't digital singles.

Lora-Ayu 9th August 2008 02:17 AM

Ayu's finally releasing something soon!~ :yes I can't wait! <3

Lanz16 9th August 2008 05:11 AM

^ Yup! :yes

maikaru 9th August 2008 06:11 AM

Yeah, Together when... was definitely marketed as a "digital single." Single is still there.
A Song is Born is not included in the box, for obvious reasons, but it's still an Ayumi single.
Also, all the other a sides that others have mentioned are not in here, but still considered an a side.
So Together when is hard and open to different thoughts~

For me, and song that is released seperate from an album is a single.
Look at the itunes single charts. They are all digital singles, right?
But they're still counted as singles.
Nowadays, it's becoming a trend for digital singles.. in america, and korea too.

So I guess it's up to you if you consider it a single or not,
But I think either way is the right way, because each has reasons why and why not.

But I can't wait for another song~~ >w<

Melrose 9th August 2008 10:53 AM

^

I agree with maikaru. It was promoted as a single, not an album track.. That's why we don't have the JEWEL instrumental, but we do have the Together When... instrumental.

wenren93 10th August 2008 04:35 PM

AHHH~~~
ayu please release ur 2nd single for 08 as soon as possible ><"
can't wait anymore ~~~~~~

tokyoxjapanxfan 10th August 2008 05:10 PM

^ i agree. most singles are in fact digital. no one in america goes out to buy the physical copy of a single--plus, they're usually not available. Just because Ayu's singles are all physical copies, they all have "digital" counterparts to be purchased online anyway. Together when..., though not having a physical cd release, is still a single.
