I really like the cover, at firt I didnt enjoy it at all but in bigger it looked much better. But but, the tracklist. TACKY! I hope it will sound better then I think. :)

lol if you go to hikki thread you'll see me complaining something about hikki as well :D. I think the only thing that I really hate from ayu is the GREEN pv. Otherwise she usually satisfies me, just like this cover and tracklist. Well I dun really mind about the tracklist except the E in EnergizE. I would say I like the cover, but I'm not sure how far my love can go with this cover. That's all.

I think.. the reason I kinda falter this time is that I dunno what I should expect from this album. For the last three or four years, she was sorta into the ROCK era, so I kinda expected how her music would go in each album (except (m)u). For this new one I dun really know. I know she has done techno before (LOVEppears, to me, is one of her best albums), and I feel this album should be going to the techno side... Somehow I have a feeling that this album may not be similar to LOVEppears... And the cover actually makes me feel that she's doing something bold again.. I hope NEXT LEVEL won't suffer (m)u fate (i.e., scaring her Japanese fans away).

the last Ayu song I didn't like was Close to you. I feel exactly the same about LOVEppears, but yeah so far I don't think NEXT LEVEL will sound like LOVEppears. It's really weird cuz I knew what to expect for the last couple of albums and now xD Everything's kinda possible, but the fact that she worked with CMJK and Nakano prolly means that her music won't change drasticly, JK-san is prolly doing the techno/electro songs while Nakano must be doing the rock ones :D

I don't hate the cover, but I don't LOVE LOVE either. It seems a little abnormal coming from Ayu, I think...maybe. I haven't quite decided.
As for the song titles, I wonder what her inspirations are? Some of them are "..." while others are "Awesome!" So it's mixed for me! :P

(no offense fans) the tracklist sounds, more than anything, stupid. "Load of the SHUGYO", "Disco-munication"? i have enough faith left to know that only she could put depth into titles like that.

After reading the lyrics to Sparkle I have no faith. Am glad I didnt have the moneys at the time to spend preordering this.

I got a feeling this will be a techno filled album

But it's easier for hikki so satisfy you (that's what I meant) and it's pefectly fine, there is no wrong in anything of that sort =D.
I deny the existance of Two of us (even if the lyrics are good) and even I complain here sometimes, but if I want ayu to do specific things and she doesn't then I don't mind since ayu doesn't have to 100% fill my expectations (that's why I'm not dissapointed and with NEXT LEVEL even more satsfied with how it looks).

I think it might be like a modern LOVEppears and it's AWESOME.
LOVEppears is my favorite album by ayu so let's see if a modern version of it will succeed to surpass it (if it's even really a modern version of it).

I think the cover might actually look more mainstream and appealing to the japanese crowd, and it's WAY better than (miss)understood's covers. We also should wait for the other version's covers ^_^. What scared the japanese fans was Bold & Delicious (and maybe the CD only cover). We know that most of her fans or the people in japan like mainstream stuff, but maybe not when ayu does songs like B & D.

The big cover make the cover looks even better, I like ayu's eyes colors and the facial expression!

I luv the cover actually, I was hoping for something groundbreaking, this is clearly not, but at least it's different and no more boring covers(Secret, MU, Guilty). I hope the other covers are completely different in styles but not weird yoga poses again. I'm getting either 2CD+DVD or CD+DVD based on the covers, time will tell.

Tracklist-wise, ummm, some are weird, Load of the SHUGYO??, rollin'?? Curtain call?? Pieces of SEVEN?? meh

Something I don't get is why people are claiming : dance album since nor Rule, GREEN, Days are dance style ?! They would just be like a big stain in middle of others songs if the rest is dance music lol

I won't even base on Sparkle to claim dance, since I see it as electro pop / electro rock, as Until that day was .... so if we remove that four songs, an intro and surely one or two interlude ... I don't see a dance album. I won't base myself on some weirds titles either. If the rest is dance, those 3/4 songs will be very awkward in middle of them.

You know what I really like? How none of the singles tracks are next to each other! I didn't like in the Secret album, having three lumped together (Born to be, Beautiful Fighters, Blue Bird), and in the Guilty there was talkin' to myself and decision (EXACTLY the same as the single :headache) and then fated and Together When next to each other. I really do prefer it when single tracks aren't slotted together, it makes them stand out a lot better.

I'm kinda indifferent about the cover right now but I really like some of the titles. I do have to say something though, I find it absolutely hysterical that some people seem to be judging the album after Sparkle's lyrics and the track titles when we haven't even heard the songs yet! Honestly if you want to take that stance now shouldn't we have followed that same logic with her previous albums and the final single that went into that album? Just because she tried a different lyrical style for Sparkle doesn't mean every song is going to follow the same suit. Because if that is the case then we should expect all of the album tracks to sound like Days, GREEN, and Rule as well. None of her previous albums are like that so I think it's safe to say that Sparkle and maybe MAYBE 1 or 2 other tracks will share a similar lyrical style and if I'm wrong then I will admit it. Also about the song titles, so some of them are strange? STEP you is a song like that and it seems to be pretty popular among fans as well as my name's WOMEN and kiss 'o kill. I guess all I'm really trying to say is for everyone to keep an open mind about NEXT LEVEL until the songs and lyrics are out.

Ok, I have some issues with the execution (the photography, ayu's posing, the somewhat sloppy photoshopping) but I am IN LOVE with the concept!
The 80s are totally whack back in vogue this season and this album couldn't have been more complementary. Hopefully this will become the happy, fun pop album that (m)u should've been but wasn't.

The song titles are craaaazy, but then again, rarely are the titles indicative of the quality of the songs, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I really hope she explores the whole electropop sound further in this album. It's the one genre she hasn't really done, so it'd be nice to hear some of that here. I'm definitely looking forward to this album more so than I have any of her other albums since My Story (perhaps tacky cover = good album? We will never know, so I'm holding my breath. Heh)

Also I don't get the haters! Like, all of you who are accusing her of "devolving a level" or becoming trashy or what have you - do you people think it is EASY to make good quality fun pop songs? Geez!

I thought "OMG WHAT IS THIS?!?" when i first saw the cover, but it's kinda growing on me now.

Well, at least I know that I've never complained about her titles until now. I actually kind of liked Step YOU. :) But I think I've pinpointed why I don't like whats been released about this album so far:

The titles, the cover, the PVs we have seen so far (with possible exception of Days), Sparkle and it's lyrics......are all a dime a dozen. I can totally picture all of these things coming from artists like Britney Spears and the likes. BUT AYU is not a dime a dozen or at least she shouldn't be! :yes Yep, I think that pretty much sums it up for me. It might end up being a fun sounding album - but at the same time, I can get that from pretty much anyone, anywhere.

If ayu can pull it in her own way (like she did with Sparkle) then personally I don't care about anyone else.
I also don't understand what's wrong with Sparkle's lyrics. A lot of people (or girls can relate to such lyrics) and the song sounds darker than those songs usually does.
I don't want ayu to recycle to A Song for xx.
I'm glad ayu tries new things.

It's good to try new things, but also don't lose what makes you great in the first place. :yes I still hope that the album will be very good, I just have low expectations right now. (maybe thats a good thing though) As for Sparkle - the whole song is really just ok for me. I kinda got tired of it after only a few listens.(which rarely ever happens with an Ayu song for me. I still have Rule on constant repeat.) The lyrics are quite shallow for Ayu's standards, especially if you have at least a decent understanding of the original Japanese. And she did say that she was going to try a new way of writing lyrics, thats why I hope it doesn't mean the whole album will be in that style.

Curtain call is most likely a ballad (and maybe LOVE 'n' HATE is a rock ballad?) don't know just speculating because of the titles.
I'm sure that Curtain call is a ballad since she always have at least 1 new ballad PV on the DVD of the albums.
MY STORY - walking proud, (miss)understood - rainy day, Secret - JEWEL, momentum, GUILTY - Together When... so I think that Curtain call is a ballad.
I also wonder if there will be a hidden track (though chances are 50-50 as always until we get the last track =P).
