I don't get why everyone's getting so bent out of shape at the argument.

There was been way worse fighting here in the past. We're just discussing how we feel.

@Rogue: no one was going to bash xiaou, or you for agreeing with her...so...your comment kind of befuddles me. Say what you're going to say.

@xiaou: I miss you, post more. AHS needs you <3

@AyUta: I know! We seriously need one of those shows...why don't we have any? It would be awesome to have our artists doing live performances all the time for television...But it might start to get repetitive...

ayuayu798 16th June 2009 01:04 PM

I wonder why America doesn't have those music shows... That would be awesome. America needs to take some modern Japanese culture leasons lol

Sundae 16th June 2009 04:30 PM

We used to have them. We had shows like Soul Train, AmericanBandstand, Pepsi Smash and some others, but for the same reason MTV, VH1, and BET have started to move away from music shows they just don't work anymore. They're boring. American Idol works but that's like a reality tv show mixed with a music show.

Besides musicians here don't need tv to promote anymore. The radio works well on the go. Downloading the song on the internet and watch the music video on the internet. That system works well for the current musicians already in the spotlight but makes it harder for the newer ones to gain attention.

Amrai-chan 16th June 2009 05:13 PM

Soul Train ftw. I miss music shows. The current method works well for some though. It's harder to get noticed now which sucks...

Rogue 16th June 2009 05:15 PM

@emiko; yah, you're right, and you're kind to point this out to me, thank you ^^;
It's just.. Gah, no one is ever going to feel exactly the same about Utada and her behaviour, between us fans I think, but it's just too bad that people get worked up over the fact that she's sick and that we don't hear about her.
Myself, I have this "chill" attitude, like, it's not the end of the world and everything will be alright..
I understand the fans that are getting worked up, I really, do, but then came xiaou-xijiang, and her words are just.. perfect! XD
That's kind of what I wnated to say ^^;
Thank you for comforting me ^^

I know. TRL came close I guess. which really isn't all that in comparison. music channels like FUSE and PALADIUM are hard to get. :/

talk shows like the Late Night shows are the ones on local channels that frequently have musical guests and chances for good promotion, but nothing that's music exclusive. :( (and considering we have VH1 and MTV that's pretty sad)

CoriKaru 17th June 2009 01:11 AM

Regardless of everything else, I am rather surprised at the lack of any Evangelion/Utada news or a leak of some sort of anything. Utada isn't needed for this. I was thinking that maybe they were waiting for Utada to recover, if she hasn't, to announce the Single so that she could promote it but I don't think Utada would mind being out of commission and not having to go on television. Wouldn't be the first time. Not to mention her songs can sell themselves. Maybe the song isn't being released as a Single at all. Maybe she isn't doing the song and never was doing the song. I'm befuddled as to what they're planning.

If Utada is doing the song I hope she doesn't flake out on a proper Music Video again because she "wants the song to belong to the Evangelion franchise and doesn't want to take away or distract from the purpose of the song." Kind of too late to do that anyway when your name is Utada Hikaru and your voice is all over a song for ANYTHING.

I've heard "Beautiful World" a quadruple billion times. Have not seen that Evangelion movie not once. Utada POWNT!

Polyrhythm 17th June 2009 01:27 AM

^I dont even know what Evangelion is....lol....except that Beautiful World was its theme song....

NintendoHTF1242 17th June 2009 01:34 AM

MTV should just be renamed TV xD I mean, there is NO music no that channel, srsly XD

Yum!Fruit_Salad! 17th June 2009 02:24 AM

^ A long time there usd to be. When I lived in New York, pretty much as soon as I was home, TRL was on the TV. So sad what crappy 'reality' shows have done.

In spoiler since I don't know if it's ok to say...
Spoiler:
Evangelion is human soul that rejected the form of a normal human body.

It's a terribly popular anime series (Neon Genesis Evangelion being the full name). I mean terribly in the best way <3! It's waaaay more deep than what you'd think from the plot description.

mcluva420 17th June 2009 03:56 AM

oh em gee, i hate reality shows, unless theyre funny or smthin
pretty much the only "music" shows are.. talk shows, awards shows, countdowns, and some contest shows

Keiichi_JPU 18th June 2009 07:48 PM

Neon Genesis Evengelion is one of the best anime series I've ever seen, you really should watch it!

The movie is airing exclusively at my local theater sometime this month, I'm definitely gonna see it! Beautiful World in cinema :luv2 AND one of my favorite anime ever!! So good :luv2

"Utada’s Evangelion 2.0 Theme Song Available 6/27?

According to Japan’s MORA downloading service website, Utada’s as-yet untitled theme song for the upcoming Evangelion 2.0 film will be unveiled on Saturday, June 27th. There are no details, but with the film itself being released on the 27th, it seems logical that radio airplay and mobile/PC downloads would begin on that date. No word yet on a physical release. Credit goes to kita-san."

I've waited for so long I'm not even excited now that I have news! Que Sera, Sera is my motto concerning Utada.

AyUta 18th June 2009 09:56 PM

Finally. Can't wait for it.

Beauty4123 18th June 2009 11:46 PM

guess we won't get a single in july then, lol. why must hikki make us wait so long? i really hope this song is better than "beautiful world".

AyUta 19th June 2009 12:44 AM

^ I hope so too Lisa. For the long time we have to wait.

emi♡ 19th June 2009 02:54 AM

@cori: wonderful news, thank you :)

Picaflor 7/4 19th June 2009 03:04 AM

america is like the very opposite of japan. they don't release singles to the public (in stores), and you can't just walk into a store and see a whole selection of music for an artist. maybe 2 or so albums but thats about it. We imo need atleast one good hearty music show that dedicated to music. Mtv isn't even MTV anymore. its all dumb ass shows like ANTM. So in other words its basically just TV.

mcluva420 19th June 2009 05:09 AM

^The Grammys ;)
I walked in a store and saw a whole selection of music from an artist~ lik.. 5 smallish rows of CDs?

Polyrhythm 19th June 2009 06:16 AM

^I dont watch the grammys....its kinda sad. Im so out of touch with American music....the only time I remember watching the grammys was when mariah carey sang we belong together during it. That was 2005 or 2006? cant remember. That song was crazy back then.

emi♡ 19th June 2009 06:24 AM

I actually don't mind the industry so much anymore...

I like how the releases work...even though I dislike that it takes people forever to release stuff...

I do dislike the television shows as well. It's hard to remember back when MTV was actually good...I think I was very young.

And it's never been hard for me to find people's music...so I don't know about that.

There's a lot of things about the Japanese industry that I don't like either...so for me, they both have their pros and cons.

american TV is getting boring. i lost track of what shows are what channels.
cartoons are getting worse too :P

ayuayu798 19th June 2009 11:57 AM

^ I know the cartoons pretty much suck now! I don't really watch T.V now anyways. But I hear MTV is showing silent library... Wasn't that a Japanese show first? Maybe the U.S is finally taking some notes! :P

KarenPang 19th June 2009 01:15 PM

has this been posted before ?

From http://listentheworld.wordpress.com/ :

As you know, Utada has been chosen to sing the main theme of Evangelion 2.0 film and it seems her “new song” (title still unknown) will be unveiled the same day as the movie, on June 27th, 2009.

With her U.S album and 2 weeks before the release we doubt about a new song, it’s more possible that the theme song will be finally “Fly to the moon -2007MIX-“.

source - http://www.mora.jp/special/evangelion_ha/

Sundae 19th June 2009 01:22 PM

We knew about the song finally being released but I'm sure we thought it was a new song not a cover of a cover of a song. Que sera, sera. Sooner or later we'll hear a new Japanese Utada song.

Beauty4123 19th June 2009 03:57 PM

wait, this song better be a NEW song. i will not put up with another fly to a moon mix or something that's not new :eviltongu

Mirai Noah 19th June 2009 04:50 PM

Yeah, I'm hoping that this is brand new song...

CoriKaru 19th June 2009 05:37 PM

Yeah we've heard, or at least I have, that "rumor" before. Some later news came out though that pretty much debunked that I thought. I haven't been worried about that happening for a long time now. Hopefully my memory isn't deceiving me ahora mismo but I'm sure it's going to be a new song.

emi♡ 19th June 2009 08:54 PM

What happened to her releasing that single that was a cover of those old U3 songs?

CoriKaru 19th June 2009 09:35 PM

Are you referring to that 9 year old child Single? Those were originally her old songs right? I don't think they were Covers. But that doesn't come out until August. That's if I'm even talking about the same thing you are.

where could I find the english lyrics of flavor of life?

Andrenekoi 20th June 2009 12:45 AM

Found it on google:

When you say thank you to me,
for some reason it hurts,
Like a magic spell that doesn’t
get undone even after the good bye.
a hint of bitterness.
The flavor of life

Stuck midpoint between friends and lovers,
like an un-riped fruit dreaming about the day of harvest
because of being unable to just move one more step forward
what’s causing this frustration baby

When you say thank you to me,
for some reason it hurts,
Like a magic spell that doesn’t
get undone even after the good bye.
a hint of bitterness
The flavor of life

Sweet talk and tasteless conversations.
it sparks no interest in me
even when things do not go the way you want
it doesnt mean you’ve thrown your life away

When asked ‘ whats wrong?’
I answer ‘its nothing’
The smile that disappears after goodbye
It’s unlike me

The more i wish to believe in you,
For some reason it hurts even more
‘i like you a lot’ instead of ‘i love you’ sounds more like you
the flavor of life

the period when you suddenly remember the scent of someone you had almost forgotten
I want to be able to openly and honestly cherish the white purity of the falling snow more

A future tender and warmer than a diamond
i want to grasp it, in this limited time we have, i want to spend it with you

when you say thank you to me,
for some reason it hurts,
Like a magic spell that doesnt
get undone even after the good bye.
a hint of bitterness
The flavor of life

Keiichi_JPU 20th June 2009 01:12 AM

Those English lyrics almost made me cry, thank you.

For some reason I never looked up the translated lyrics for most of Hikki's songs. Only recently some bad things happened to me (heart break :( ) and I started looking up translations of Ayu's songs because they really help me, and they're amazing.

Now I'm gonna do the same for all Hikki songs I like, because I'm sure the lyrics will help me as well!

emi♡ 20th June 2009 01:43 AM

^yeah, I personally never really bothered to look up translations of lyrics for anyone but ayu...

But a lot of people have talked about how hikki's lyrics are really deep and stuff as well...especially back when people used to say that no other artists had as deep lyrics as Ayu did...a lot of people would talk about hikki...but I just kinda took their word for it lol Especially since lyrics don't really matter for me when it comes to music...unless they're annoying.

Wow, FoL beat out a Mr. Children song? That's GREAT!

Picaflor 7/4 20th June 2009 01:59 AM

are you kidding me? fol? that song isn't sad at all. how bout final distance, dareka no, or be my last? bml especially I made my mom almost cry just describing the pv to her.

Beauty4123 20th June 2009 02:03 AM

i think it ranked high on the list also because of hana yori dango. once you watch that, then you could cry from the song (or at least i did :laugh)

I'm surprised that first love is 9 i would have thought it would rank top 5

Andrenekoi 20th June 2009 02:19 AM

@Keiichi_JPU & emiko@

IMO, ayu lyrics are more relatable, but hikki is a better writter considering structure, word plays and stuff like that... So... to me, Ayu is amazing in the emotional aspect, and Hikki is amazing in the racional aspect

tomiko8 20th June 2009 02:49 AM

Whenever I come across ayu's lyrics it seems as though I'm reading generic "over-played" lyrics. Hikki's on the other hand seems very unique and very well put together. Same goes for Shiina Ringo, her lyrics are outstanding.

mcluva420 20th June 2009 07:33 AM

imo, First Love is sadder than FoL..

I think the reason why hikki's lyrics are so poetic/unique is that shes a total bookworm and a lover of literature..very beneficial to lyric writing~

Rogue 20th June 2009 09:24 AM

To me it's kind of strange that Deep River isn't in that top ten :s
It made me cry two times when I watched the PV and read the translated lyrics under it ^^;

Be My Last is also very emotional, such as COLORS and Dareka No Negai Ga Kanau Koro, and I wonder where those songs fit in that top 100.
Flavor of Life is a beautiful song, but I dislike the ballad somehow. The catchy, original version touches me more than the ballad one, sorry to say, but to me it sounds likes she's lingering it out.

EDIT; used the seach function and apparently there isn't any other Utada song in the rest of that top 100. Bugger.

Hmm, seven more days until the - suspected - release of the new single (and yes, I'm convinced, too, that it is a new single since she said latest times she was working on a new japanese album)
I guess a couple more days until a leak comes out then?
I sure do hope so, though ^^;

Wonder what it'll be like.

Hachimitsu 20th June 2009 09:43 AM

I want to hear a preview for the new Evangelion song. It's time for a new release Hikki! Even so, I think she needs to release another single for TITO soon.

Oh, and I just got my copy of TITO! (yeah, I'm late, but it's not in stores here. Actually, I won it at the Jpopstop giveaway xD) It's a shame there are no lyrics in the booklet, but I like the pictures.

mcluva420 20th June 2009 10:00 AM

^grats :D

pommy48 20th June 2009 10:03 AM

FOL still makes me cry XD all because of hyd XD

JackieRos 20th June 2009 02:02 PM

Yah First Love is sadder she wrote very nice lyrics and she was only 16:thud

"You are always gonna be my love
Itsuka darekato mata koi ni ochitemo
I'll remember to love you taught me how
You are always gonna be the one
Ima wa mada kanashii love song
Atarashi uta utaeru made"

I always cry when I hear those lyrics

cosmeticmusic 20th June 2009 03:05 PM

First Love is pretty sad as far as song standards go. FoL does have a depressing tone, and the lyrics are hopeful, but still kind of sad.

ayuayu798 20th June 2009 03:17 PM

I wish be my last made the list... That pv always makes me cry!

CoriKaru 20th June 2009 08:10 PM

Songs just never make me cry. If anything were to make me cry it would be the wait in between the actual songs.

I do appreciate Utada's Japanese lyrical ability though. The fact that she writes her own music in her own unique way and the fact that it's not all just bubble gum trash and generic gives her all the more credibility and legitimacy and separates her from the pack. Knowing how to play with words and which ones sound and flow good together is an added bonus.

AyUta 20th June 2009 08:34 PM

Yeah, there are much sadder songs of Hikki's but FOL was the top of the list because of HYD :).

amorphose 22nd June 2009 05:53 AM

Here's a rumored tracklist for the single from U.Blog (comments, not an official post.)

“REPEAT/Endless Journey”
1. REPEAT (4:57)
2. Endless Journey (4:31)
3. REPEAT -Rythm Rovo Mix- (3:52)
4. REPEAT [Original Karaoke] (4:57)
5. Endless Journey [Original Karaoke] (4:31)

I'm pretty sure it's FAKE as it was posted by the same user who tried to say that TITO was going to have more tracks according to other U.Blog users, but it is still interesting to look it and who knows, he may not be lying this time.

He says his source was a Tokyo newspaper. Supposedly, "Endless Journey" is the Eva song. He also claims that the song "REPEAT" will be the theme of a drama and he heard a preview of it at a restraunt in Japan.

Sounds like total BS but you never know and I thought I'd share...

emi♡ 22nd June 2009 06:16 AM

I really hope no one ever makes a song called "repeat".

It's like koda kumi's "but" lol

I don't really mind if it's true or not...I just want some new material.

thanks for the heads up :)

Polyrhythm 22nd June 2009 06:18 AM

^BUT was and still is an awesome song. As soon as I saw Endless Journey I thought out Yuna Ito's debut single ENDLESS STORY. And the b-side on the single was Journey, so I lol to myself.

And I'm pretty sure if Hikki made a song call REPEAT, it would be one badass song.

I can't imagine it to be real. If it were, I want to see scans from that newspaper first, and that's probably not going to happen. Btw, why would he have heard the song in a restaurant? We would have heard if it was being aired on radio already!

JackieRos 22nd June 2009 12:30 PM

i dont mind the track list as long as the songs are good
hope is real we need more Hikaru Utada:yes

Hachimitsu 22nd June 2009 12:42 PM

I just got my TITO cd, and I noticed the KH bonus tracks are printed on the back, but not on the CD itself. Anyone know why that is?

JackieRos 22nd June 2009 12:44 PM

maybe hidden songs
i dont have TITO so idk
that is strange

ayuayu798 22nd June 2009 12:50 PM

I actually like the titles, but for me it doesn't sound like something hikki would name her songs as...

CoriKaru 22nd June 2009 05:16 PM

If you ask me this is just the product of that same disgruntled Utada fan doing what he did last time in order to stick it to the other fans he deems impatient and unworthy. A punishment if you will. So what he wanted to happen is happening. Annoys me that we're even acknowledging his grandstanding. He put out the false news and then bounced to watch the rest squirm in entertainment. Not putting out proof. No defense. Just doesn't really care.

Can't really let this "Boy who cried wolf" get you everytime.

JackieRos 22nd June 2009 05:28 PM

i'm planning to buy TITO just to support Utada

ayuayu798 22nd June 2009 05:32 PM

^ you should she needs all the support she can get! I already bought her album on itunes... I was gonna buy the physical album at wal-mart yesterday, but they didn't have it! :(

Beauty4123 22nd June 2009 06:33 PM

omg if one of the tracks would be for a drama, i'd be BEYOND happy. now i actually hope it's true, even if endless journey just screams yuna ito, lol. :P

Polyrhythm 22nd June 2009 07:55 PM

omg LAWL! Utada's Come Back To Me is the lost track to Mariah's We Belong Together :tired
Spoiler:

norain 22nd June 2009 09:06 PM

Wow. That's a good remix of mariah's and utada's. The songs sound similar but they're distinctly different. Someone should do the reverse with utada's lyrics and mariah's background. there's an instrumental that exists of come back to me?

---

Anyway, my best buy plays come back to me everytime I come in there, I find it funny. Haha. =)

amorphose 23rd June 2009 12:16 AM

^Yes, I found the official instrumental on Google. I don't know where it came from-- I'm pretty sure someone ripped it from MySpace Karaoke.

mcluva420 23rd June 2009 04:33 AM

wbt is all upbeat now xD
it will be great if they used both vocals/both instrumentals :)

Meat Pao 23rd June 2009 05:43 AM

I can't watch the video cuz it's not available in my country :(

Funimation Entertainment to Premiere English Dub of EVANGELION:1.0 YOU ARE (NOT) ALONE at Anime Expo® 2009

Flower Mound, TX & Anaheim, CA (June 22, 2009) – FUNimation® Entertainment today announced that it will premiere the English dubbed version of Hideaki Anno’s “EVANGELION: 1.0 YOU ARE (NOT) ALONE” at Anime Expo® held this year at the Los Angeles Convention Center July 2-5, 2009.

“EVANGELION: 1.0 YOU ARE (NOT) ALONE” is the film sequel to the sci-fi animated series blockbuster Neon Genesis Evangelion (also written and directed by Hideaki Anno) which aired on Japanese television in the mid 1990’s.

Director in Chief Hideaki Anno (Neon Genesis Evangelion) and the creative staff of this film made a complete rebuild of the design and visuals rather than magnifying the original 16 mm film from the series. The team was also able to employ 3D computer graphics to enrich the depth and breadth of the Evangelion world as well as digital photography and composite nonlinear editing.

ABOUT EVANGELION: 1.0 YOU ARE (NOT) ALONE
There was no foreseeable warning before it happened — a catastrophe of unparalleled scale and magnitude overwhelmed the entire globe. This event, recorded in history as “The Second Impact,” caused half the population of the Earth to perish and devastated the world. All that remains of Japan is Tokyo-3, a city that is now being attacked by giant creatures that seek to destroy mankind. These creatures are called Angels.

Fourteen year old Shinji Ikari is called to Tokyo-3 by his father who he hasn’t seen in more than eight years. He is asked to come to the NERV headquarters to meet his father. His father reveals to him a gigantic humanoid weapons system that the special governmental agency has secretly developed to fight the Angels and then orders Shinji to pilot the giant artificial human Evangelion Unit One.

With the fate of the world resting on his shoulders, how will the 14 year old boy Shinji fight? What is the truth behind “The Human Instrumentality Project,” an operation somehow related to the “Second Impact”? And who is the true enemy? The Angels, NERV, the mysterious SEELE, or the demons held within the hearts of all involved?

Gendō Ikari, a man who holds many answers to these questions, watches silently and attentively as his son fights a desperate battle…
Funimation Entertainment will premiere EVANGELION: 1.0 YOU ARE (NOT) ALONE Friday, July 3, in room LP1 at Anime Expo.
And then I was like.....Evangelion....evangelion....where have I heard of that before @_@ And I was like oh right...Beautiful World @_@ Anime Expo is North America's largest anime and manga convention as well as one of the largest in the world. If all goes right, this is atleast minor promotion for Hikki in the U.S...not to mention the movie is to be shown in 77 movie theaters across the U.S.....well iunno...maybe they'll toss out Beautiful World from the movie in the U.S release....gotta wait and see

Rumored Evangelion 2.0 theme song title: "Parallel Or Together?"

Yum!Fruit_Salad! 24th June 2009 12:31 AM

Couldn't give a damn about the song title, just wanna hear the new Eva song. :weep

Unfortunately, none of the movies near me probably won't be one the 77.

Keiichi_JPU 24th June 2009 01:40 AM

I saw the movie yesterday..

You heart Beautiful World in the end of the movie, during the credits. Be sure to keep seated during the entire song because afterwards you'll see a preview of Evangelion 2.0. (like any self-respecting Hikki fan would walk away during a public airing of Beautiful World lol)

To my disappointment, you don't even hear Cry Me To The Moon somewhere in the background during the movie or something.. I wonder why it's on the soundtrack, I didn't hear it.
