The camera work was a cool idea but it was enough to make me nearly motion sick at points, and at other points it made an almost-3D effect. It was cool but... meh.

And because they spent so little time on the beginning with the bed, coffee and closet parts, I thought the scenes would switch again from the walking... but... nope. She just kept walking... and walking... haha. Sort of reminiscent of the Curtain Call PV, where she got all prettied up just to walk forward for 4 minutes. xD

This is probably my least favorite of the Love songs PVs... this or Sweet Season... because little kids, ergh.

alternarist 23rd December 2010 03:58 AM

First of all, the song just knocked my socks off!!!!!!! it's so damn bloody cool even though when i heard the samples, the chorus was crap. But i liked the way the verses build up its intensity.

And the PV, generally, i guess we have to admit that it's slightly boring because it's just ayu walking around with 2 dogs.. But the set and direction all amazed me!! I like the PV!! And it was interesting to read some of u guys' interpretation!! :) made me understand the whole PV more..

Tony G 23rd December 2010 04:13 AM

Watched it for the 2nd time last night, and I have a completly different interpretation:

The video starts with Ayu getting up and getting dressed. Notice how lavish her surroundings are. She has coffee already prepared, huge wardrobe with clothes. Note what she chooses to wear, its almost like something the roman emperors would wear.

She walks out of her house, and there is destruction around her. I agree with another member who said the dogs are for protection. She struts down the street while other seem to be walking around the destruction in despair. Everyone seems to know that it was ayu who has caused this destruction. Her house and belongings are in tact while others have lost everything.

When she gets to to the tunnel, there are 4 or so people who decide they are going to attack her for what she has done. But her police stop them. She controls everything in this world. She rules it.

The light at the end of the tunnel.. I don't know where it fits in with my theory yet. If its an explosion.. maybe it symbolises that everything can be taken away from you in a heartbeat.

I dunno.. am I crazy for thinking this? This might fit in with the interpretations about her career.. while she controls everything, she cannot take it for granted?

I really liked this PV! Ayu's outfit, the dogs, the set... Surely they could've used that amazing set more and have more storyline, but oh well... I still like it.

Walking outside with the dogs to guide her, while not seeing the destruction and chaos that was going on around her. (And then they needed to add more to this idea, because Do It Again is a long song, and her walking around with dogs for nearly 6 minutes ain't cutting it.)

At the end with the subway scene, with the light, she should finally regain her vision only to see the whole world being wiped out by some explosion. That would be epic (and yes I know I'm morbid.) I mean, she could have pulled it off. She had this blank stare a lot of the time when she was walking the dogs.

This would've been a great idea!

freedreamer 23rd December 2010 01:23 PM

I like the interpretations that she is blind or dead.

For me, I saw the walking-the-dog as something very common and kinda like a daily routine. Admits all the chaos, people are still dancing and all that. It seems like me as though the PV is saying, no matter what terrible situation is happening, life goes on as per normal. And her house is in stark contrast with the surroundings too..so hmmm

JackieRos 23rd December 2010 04:10 PM

I like it

the camera movements, the dogs, the song. I'll watch it more than one

Melodie 23rd December 2010 04:17 PM

I'm just going to copy this from my other post:

Quote:

Sing, sing, sing, do it again, dance, dance, dance do it again, Ayu are you confronting our demands? But the song is magic, the dogs that would want to run off and are too big for your hands, just as the industry that's using you, and the charts, which you're trying to dominate, in hopes of reaching the hearts of as many people as possible.
It's my favourite PV from Love songs.

ayu_ready? 23rd December 2010 05:36 PM

i like it how usually ayufans make up different interpretations of her PVs, but reality is that we can't acctually guess it right
maybe there's no even any symbolism, they just had to make a PV and came up with this
:)

I didn't like the dogs, and she walking all glam in this dress and high heels...looked weirdo compared to the environment. she'd better have worn something rockish, torn but looking quite natural - like jeans and t-shirt, I dunno...

anyway, it was boring. hated the dancers in the PV. also I got sick of these camera angles. after some time

love the song, but it better have been something like Marionette, or Free & Easy
I hope next time she will use Japanese directors

If I'm not mistaken it was a Japanese director.

oh that's how it was then? mmm, well, I thought since it was shot in LA...:D
anyway, I don't like any of America shoot PVs, except Dearest & Virgin Road

honestly, I miss conceptual-studio-made things :)

C+R+E+AYUMI 23rd December 2010 10:42 PM

the camera effec are simply VISIONARY.

i like the first 2 minutes, that after it becomes boring

[taskin.ayu] 24th December 2010 12:50 PM

Ended up being super boring IMO. The dogs made it awkward since she was holding them so tightly, her movement ended up being restricted and weird.. :/

Disappointing PV, even though I LOVE the camera work.

neuteka 24th December 2010 07:53 PM

My interpretation
Sorry if what i said has been said in other posts as well.

For me, I clearly think that this is a dream. She is dreaming about what her surroundings would be like if they were destroyed, yet her or her home has not been destroyed or hurt in the least. The Camera angles also effect this as well, and I know whenever I have dreams weird things happen like that.

With that being said, I think she is having somewhat of a selfish dream, everyone going about their business with nothing but their talents, and people with less are trying to attack her because she still has everything in tact. The dream ends with here about to be hit by a train, like what everyone else wanted.

blackmage 24th December 2010 09:00 PM

I really like this PV among the new PVs for Love songs. For me even if she is walking a straight path through destruction, I though it was done very well and very creatively. This is how I interpret it.

Obviously the songs from the lyric content is about dreams and the pursuit of obtaining such things; not to give up. Right? So take that into consideration. Sure Ayumi wakes up like it is a normal day. Maybe its a dream, but I don't necessarily think so. Each day brings new opportunities to follow and pursue your dreams, but challenges sometimes and usually do arise that push us back; makes us want to give up. I would say this is the debris, people and everything that is tragic happening around her is just that. "What is sad is to give up That's true even now But such cases that don't fit well
Are increasing in reality"
This could also be a reflection of mental state such as self doubt, low self esteem. The inner struggles we must face daily to push past in order to get to where our dreams lie. "Where is that dream now And what is it like ?"

Its like any other day, each day is a new slate, we make of it what we will. She gets ready and comes outside with her great Danes. The Danes that she is walking... the dogs can represent strength and power. Maybe its an extension of Ayu, probably a shield. This goes along with the outfit of choice because to me, it looks very elegant, but also reminiscent of warrior-esque armor. I think this is Ayu ready to face the day, the world with strength and courage. Its all about empowerment of her self to face her daily struggles for reaching her dreams.

She is also walking a straight line in the path that she has chosen. She sings "(dance dance dance do it again) (sing sing sing do it again)" signifying to keep going, keep trying, keep achieving. Her path is very clear, there is no debris or obstacles on this path except around it. She knows what her dreams are and is doing what she needs to do to reach them. "I wonder if That warms your heart suddenly I wonder if That tightens your heart strongly" I'm sure for Ayu her dreams what ever they all may be from short term to long term warms and tightens her heart strongly. So again the path she has chosen keeps her strong to keep dancing, singing toward her goals.

(for example) In the subway station scene, men seem to be coming from behind to stop her, chase her, etc. This could be people's negative remarks, criticism and or just Ayu's haters. So despite how strong intentions to reach our dreams are, everyone struggles. From outside sources like mentioned to within that make it difficult to continue to make our dreams come into fruition. "We need courage to let go of something We know that after becoming adults But I fully realize lately That it's not easy" That goes back to what I said earlier. This also to me, affirms my thoughts on the great danes and her outfit. Its part of her courage to let go of the obstacles and hurdles that are all around her that dim the light to success. We ultimately choose to let those hinder us and control how we obtain or don't obtain our dreams. It can make us give up, lost hope for them. To be strong and really know to go forward, we much let go of the negativity some people bring us and the negativity we build toward ourselves. It really is difficult, but when we do it, nothing can stop us right? That last scene to me is really the light at the end of the tunnel. I don't think this is Ayumi dying, but rather this is her light at the tunnel where she has let go and her dreams are the light she has been reaching for.

I would write more, but I think you get the gist of what I think of the video. Its absolutely one of my favorite songs on the new album. I think the video is amazing, it really struck an accord for me. :) Very inspiring.

bluegie 25th December 2010 06:20 AM

I listened to the song first before I watched the pv. Tbh the song bores me so much, with her "dance dance dance do it again" x 4 and "sing sing sing do it again" x 4 in every single segment of the song (and for the beginning, please x 8... shakehead). I know what the song is about (I read some comments before my cd arrived), so I can see why she kept singing "x x x do it again". Still, it's boring.

But the pv, albeit a bit plain, is quite interesting. I get the similar interpretation, so I dun need to repeat the paragraphs in my post. So far, all her new album pvs are surprisingly good.

truehappiness 25th December 2010 06:48 AM

So I was on my bike, listening to do it again, (random, I know.) and something about the camera effects had me thinking about the theme of "focus" and "keeping your eyes glued to Ayu" or something like that. If you notice, the camera effects tend to focus on one object as it moves around, or in Ayu's case, they focus on HER as Ayu, the singer. She wakes up and she's a normal person (Ayumi Hamasaki), but she gets dressed up to become what she normally is when working or in the public eye (Ayu). As someone has said before, the dogs seem to represent "singing" and "dancing" and they're basically pulling her around when she enters the outside world. This is somewhat similar to Microphone's lyrics, where music sort of attracts her towards it with its own gravity, or whatever she said. Pushed by attractive force, pulled by gravity? But anyway, she walks around for the entire PV but to me, it's sort of to show that despite all the chaos and destruction going on, she still has to fulfill her duty and focus on being a singer, on being Ayu. She can't let anything distract her from it even if the world is ending around her, which it was. (what @ War of the Worlds set pieces) The world ending is probably just a really exaggerated metaphor though for anything that might distract her along the way as a celebrity like gossip or a troublesome occurrence during work.

To talk more in depth about the camera focus thing, all of the different angles that switch while Ayu's walking perhaps representing Ayu and all of the different sides of her that end up examined in the public eye. From every side, top to bottom, the camera/the viewers are watching her and she can't get away.

The end is a little bit of a weird one for me... the light could represent all sorts of things, but I guess it I ended up thinking that it represented the "end" of her career path as a singer. She had reached the end of the road and reached the light at the end of the tunnel, basically saying that she is going to be "singing, dancing, and doing it again" until she dies.

Bottom line for me: The PV is about Ayu and her passion for singing (and dancing to a lesser extent). For as long as people are going to watch her, or even beyond then, she will be doing it again and again without taking her eyes off of whatever she sets her mind to do.

I don't really know why, but it seems like some Ayu PVs are just REALLY hard for people to interpret unless things are VERY OBVIOUSLY POINTED OUT FOR YOU. Like this = this and it's meant to be THIS. And it's like spelled out in the video with things clearly labeled a la alterna. I don't think most of Ayu's PVs are like this, but it seems like the more obvious ones like alterna, ourselves, and 1 LOVE tend to get lots more love than the confusing ones. Not that the obvious ones aren't well made because they're some of her BEST PVs and are probably made knowing that people need that sort of obvious message presented very well, but the ones that don't exactly have a clear meaning seem to just get "WTF" reactions from people.

Sandy 25th December 2010 02:42 PM

I simply don't care what the symbolism or whatever behind the PV was. The song is amazing, it's simple and it speaks to me. Not everything has to have a specific reason.

I did not care for the camera work, it tired to do something weird to the PV. I don't know, its like they were trying to get a more 'dark' feeling or something? Whatever it was, it annoyed me. And it seemed as the dogs had the power over Ayu (she is quite small): the dogs should have walked right next to her, but it looked like the dogs were dragging Ayu with them and she was about to fall down! Poor princess :)

Her PV's this year have been a bit meh-dont-have-anything-to-say. And yeah, boring. But the song in this PV is just soooooooo goooood I don't care if the PV would have been just her sitting in front of a white screen ~~~ ^^

I gotta admit, when I saw the lyrics posted before listening I was like x________________x.....

But after hearing the song I think it's necessary to be honest. In my opinion, just like with curtain call, the repetitiveness makes it powerful. It helps drill the message into your head. I can see how it can be boring to some but I find it very interesting. Plus it's easier for me to remember the lyrics that way hahahaha.

Shirlaay 25th December 2010 04:43 PM

i loved the room she was in, then it was just like... her walking the dogs?

I really like this interpretation. If you notice as well, when she "sees the light", she lets go of the dogs! If they do represent singing and dancing, the light represents the time that she will no longer be doing those things. But it blinds her. She looks away and doesn't seem comforted by seeing it. Maybe that means that its not something she wants? She wants to sing forever, because its her passion?

I'm excited that this PV is making some sense to me! This is easily her hardest to interpret video.
