Wake me up was kinda cute for me. i like the story line. I had to agree i thought that the story would end up with the new dude liking Maro when that restaurant scene happened.

snowy kiss now sounds like a painful song instead of the clubbing song. :( and the PV is boring but i am now intrigued to find out the link between snowy kiss, Wake me up and You & Me.

Wake me up: ayu in love with the other dude but eventually end up with Maro
You & Me: ayu is totally in love with Maro. Fighting scenes seem to show otherwise.
snowy kiss: ayu and Maro fighting constantly was what actually happened and whatever that happened in You & Me was just a dream.

my preliminary analysis. haha

we found love?

All I could think of was issues of domestic violence when I watched the snowy kiss PV, sigh. Not sure how I feel about that. On the other hand, Ayu looked gorgeous singing atop of the car with the city lights backdrop.

but they are fighting in "you and me" video too, so i don't think Y&m is a dream.

i really love the "wake up" video, and it work very well alone :love

snowy kiss is a disaster IMO , too much fights and nothing very surprising, they just try to fill 6 minutes of music with ULTRA SLOW MOTION takes.

Nothing will ever be as bad as the Love Songs ~story~ PVs, or the Party Queen PVs.

These were just... odd.

Thanks for posting, though.

i meant the "happier" moments are the dreams. what really happened were all the fights.. i may be wrong :P

I wonder what ayu think about this clips (Direction, edition, results)

she really think this videos are "good" or she realizes that as DVD product theses truly sucks! XD

from the beginning, when i heard snowy kiss i thought "this song rocks!, but i know the video gonna be awful"
the songs is so powerfull-high-level that the only way to do a great videos is with a big budget production
and i think ayu is not making big budget videos anymore.

freedreamer 8th December 2012 07:11 AM

can i just say...the scene where Ayu was on the car singing against the night lights was absolutely stunning in snowy kiss? the Bokeh and there was one particular scene in the bridge where she just turned to the camera...that moment was really beautiful. It was as though she was asking "Do you understand?"

Like most, I believe the story is straightforward but I did enjoy it more than I expected. I think there's something very real abt the plot. I dont know how to explain this feeling but..its like, reflecting something that DOES happen.

Wake me up was really nice. I DO enjoy seeing her so cute HAHA!! I also thought the guy would hit on Maro LOL

And i guess snowy kiss explains itself. Felt a bit agitated seeing Maro treating her like this...aargh lol..i personally dun think they had to show a reason for the fight..i mean...whatever it is, it is what the outcome that really matters...which is that they have fought and broke up and Ayu is alone once again. The main idea is also to drive back to You & Me. I especially loved the throwback scene at the platform. that scene was really symbolic.

I am sooo sick of this crap over and over :( The songs were a step up from her usual but her pv's this time were downright unoriginal and boring. what happened to pv's like microphone or because of you or rainbow?

well "BRILLANTE" and "how beautiful you are" was two expectacular works imo, but you're right, now often, 1 of 5 videos is good, the rest forgettable

actually i think her last 5 CLASS-A PV was: microphone / sexy little things / virgin road / hbya / BRILLANTE
(and im not really sure about "virgin road")

truehappiness 8th December 2012 08:04 AM

I think we'll probably get a different take on PVs later now that she has Maro PVs out of her system.

I haven't watched Snowy Kiss yet, but the end of Wake Me Up made me laugh for some reason. :lech

At the very least there should've been a warning label for victims. Even though the acting was bad, that stuff is never cool.

+ 1
I can't understand people calling these "boring," because I find them deeply unsettling.

js_surrealism 8th December 2012 11:09 AM

I think the relationship between the 3 videos is quite clear.

In You&Me, she is clearly recollecting the happier times she had with Maro in the summer.

In Wake me up, we see the prelude to what happens in You&Me - she is with that anon hot guy, who then dumps her, and she gets together with Maro.

In snowy kiss, we see the aftermath of the relationship with Maro, which sours, and then it pans back to Ayu on the beach again (cf You&Me), i.e. she's recollecting the same relationship, but different parts of it.

I guess the biggest take away is a theme she has been interested in since appears - the idea that at any one point of time, people only see one facet of the relationship between 2 people, and that there are many untold stories that we are not aware of, that only the 2 people in question are privy to. She explicitly sings about this in Return Road ("futari no koto wa futari ni shika wakaranai" - what happened between the 2 of us, only we will know)

In a sort of indirect way (if you wanna read closer into this), she is essentially telling everybody to stop speculating about her relationships cos nobody really knows what's going on apart from herself (and the men in her life, of course).

xLuna&1LOVE 8th December 2012 11:20 AM

I would like to know what the reason is why they are fighting? The new guy from Wake Me Up looks a bit too random in here... Anyway, I like the trilogy, especially Snowy Kiss is a good PV and caught my attention. Thank you for sharing!

EDIT: I wrote this before I read js_surrealism post. Makes a little bit more clear. Thank you!

that makes sense and I believe that could be said for many many of the lives of celebrities as well..thanks for this :)

The entire "snowy kiss" video is one big reference to the "appears" video and therefore the lyrics to "appears". It's just a shift of perspective, Ayumi isn't looking at the lovers and wondering if they're truly happy anymore, but she was in such a case now. Makes me wonder if it was inspired by her relationship with Mannie, it seemed happy to the outside, but just ended one day.

Don't get the big deal about the domestic violence in the video though. It's the most effective action to show that a relationship is not working for either partner, so it only makes sense to show it in the video.
Art is free from moral responsibilities for me.
