^Thanks :D

She obviously refrained from creating songs for the sake of extremely catchy phrases.

The Fame was like... "Papapapaprazzi, popopopokerface, Alealealealealejandro, kindabusy kindabusy tetetetelephone". She did evidently make a step forward. I certainly don't listen to her music but at least I tried her albums once or twice and Artpop definitely differs from her usual works.

YES! :yes I think the main problem for people is that she really, really hyped ARTPOP up to be this massive thing that would change music or something. If you disregard that idea and just listen to the album it's nowhere near as bad as people it out to be. Definitely pleasently surprised with this release :heart

The major problem with the ARTPOP concept is that the art that everyone was expecting to be in the album wasn't. Referencing Greek gods and goddesses isn't exactly that artsy and has been done by a lot of artists in music who didn't claim to be be doing anything groundbreaking. The album is just a nice, but typical EDM album that explores her interests in sex, drugs, and fashion. Same old stuff. Jeff Koons' sculpture of her for the cover art is the only original artistic presence, if any, and don't tell me that's the reverse Warholian she's talking about. I just wish we could get back to the Fame/Fame Monster days...

Oh, and she should abandon rap in her music. Jewels n' Drugs was just.....no.

I agree. It's growing on me for sure but it's very... typical. I hate to be "that fan" but ARTPOP has nothing on The Fame Monster. To me that was Gaga at her most artistic.

So when begins the praise of Born This Way's perfection now that ARTPOP seems to be crap to so many of you? 8D I'm just waiting for that to begin.

As for me, I got ARTPOP today. This album is awesome. The absolute best of 2013 for me♥

Delicious n Bold 13th November 2013 12:37 PM

Venus > born this way
I think

NintendoHTF1242 13th November 2013 01:14 PM

The Fame Monster > ARTPOP > The Fame > Born This Way

tbh

Minttulatte 13th November 2013 01:23 PM

Well, for me it's The Fame Monster, Born This Way, ARTPOP, The Fame. And I'm pretty sure I'm the only one here who thinks BTW is her #2 best album to date. :D

If it makes you feel better, it's not that I don't listen to it..in fact, most of the songs have grown on me a lot over time. She just has a very strong discography and for me, it's her weakest album.

y'all better get into this
the meltdowns are immense, but i'm not bothered as i stopped caring about sales a long time ago.
meltdowns start at page 12 by the way

Minttulatte 14th November 2013 11:50 AM

^Those meltdowns are a lot similar than what I've seen here quite often since forever. :D But I don't care for sales. I just enjoy the flawless album♥

exactly, i just can't stand gaga's hype around her releases, it really annoys people who aren't her fans at all.

I'm a fan and yet I haven't really noticed the promotion..just avoid it if you're not a fan. The TV/radio can be switched off and her forum threads can be not clicked upon.

Dream 15th November 2013 06:49 PM

At this point I don't even care about sales anymore

Some good news: She will be performing on MUSIC STATION on the 29th!

Kyary and Gaga, seriously? :P It's nice that it will be broadcasted live.

Delicious n Bold 15th November 2013 08:57 PM

Interesting combo tbh

TeamAyu2004 16th November 2013 02:58 AM

the album could have been better.
but oh well. A decent album from someone who could be amazing.

Minttulatte 17th November 2013 10:36 AM

Oh, Godga on Music Station? Nice. 8D

Yes its not a bad album the songs are really catchy and fun to jam to. I just felt it was very generic sounding, could have been made by anyone who does EDM and a lot of the compositions sounded unrefined or similar to prior songs she's released.

What I don't like in particular about this "era" isn't so much the music its the stylization that I find very off-putting. The other three albums had such cool avantgarde art concepts this "Artpop" is far from art and a total let down imo I got the impression that it was gonna be pinup girl meets sleek techno kinda thing instead we get homeless person on bath salts. The album cover is just a cropped picture of the birth of venus by Sandro Botticelli with a statue. There's nothing artistic or innovative about that the venus thing is so 2011 come up with something new plz. Her fashion has been atrocious and geekerish very much like a baser would dress and as someone who just wears clothes on a daily basis I find it insulting. To me, this is showing that her "image" was thought up entirely by someone else in her camp and clearly that person is out and she might be too I can't imagine this is clicking with too many people.
