The tour goods are so cool this time around! I think I'll get the pouch (maybe the weekender bag too) and the hoodie, so cool.

She really needs to try and do another 12 singles in 12 weeks project or at least 6 singles in 6 weeks. second session did so well, and she mentioned in the interview before she's interested in doing another project like that. But here we are almost 10 years later and still nothing. Disappointment.

YES! I need her to do something grand during her 15th anniversary. PLEASE.

I totally missed the whole 12 Days of Christmas single project because I wasn't a fan back then yet so another project like that would be awesome❤️

sora-kara 26th March 2015 05:29 AM

oooh, nice goods!
i really like the bag and the key(chain).

i've just listened to the album for the first time. it went by so quickly! it was over and i was like "woah....that just FLEW BY!!"
but really, i like it. there are some great tracks (Lippy stands out to me at the moment), and yes, the overall flow is solid. it doesnt feel like a kuu album in a lot of ways, but she makes it her own with her voice alone.
there's still enough variation on the theme to make it interesting. and its just catchy as all hell from beginning to end! its quite unique to her discography, and im really grateful for that. this is just another step in the walk of her life, so im really curious to see if she will follow along the path that she started walking down with this album, and venture on through amazing and wonderful things.

to me, this album feels like a reminder that an artist is never complete. they're always experimenting, and trying to create something new and fulfilling in different ways. this album is not 'the final product' of the koda kumi project as a whole. it is not the be all, end all of her persona. just a moment of playfulness, joy, introspection and creation.
she may never have a definitive release as an artist, but her discography as a whole creates the complete picture of the project of koda kumi.

NintendoHTF1242 26th March 2015 05:37 AM

yoUR FUCKING SIGNATURE DELICIOUS N BOLD LMFAOOOOOOOO I AM IN TEARS!!!

Another 12 singles project would be absolutely amazing, seeing as how Kuu ruled Japan for a while when she did that with BEST ~second session~. Come slay us Kuu.

^ gotta keep the ayuma stan in me strong XD

Btw about driving, I asked in the what are you listening thread but I was wondering about the quality of the audio file when you listened to it. Was it FLAC?

Aww what happened to the signature D':

I was listening to it at 320kpbs (VBR) lol that's what I ripped all my CDs at. I should probably try FLAC, just for Driving though. I wanna feel the euphoria that Zeke. feels from it. So yeah I suggest FLAC if the chorus still sounds a little "messy" to you.

salina 26th March 2015 11:24 AM

thanks forr the link on biadu:yes

Gustavopc 26th March 2015 12:08 PM

I think the 12 singles did well back then cause her popularity was rising, nowadays simply putting out lots of singles in few weeks would be a disaster imo. If she wants to do something like that again (emphasis on IF), she should get lots if tie ins and rework her image all over... Plus, another singles project would surely lead up to a BEST lol

Lol glad someone took note when I poured my fucking heart out into expressing my passion for that song.

Chorus may sound messy due to various layers that play in unison at that point so high quality is definitely a must. My favorite layer is the gritty one. You can hear it best during the outro of the song. It's like the deepest bassline that guides the structure of the entire song. It is easy to allow the higher pitched synthesized layer to steal your attention, and I actually have to make an effort to pick out the gritty bassline layer during the chorus, but that's the real star of the song. I always try to figure out what exactly it is about a song that stirs such a strong reaction in me, and the moment I discovered it was that bassline, everything fell into place.

Listen to the outro of the song to know what I'm talking about and then actively listen and seek out that layer during the chorus of the song. (At least I think that's the bassline... Or like the deepest part of the chord progression?)

Also, I begin to foam at the mouth at 24 seconds when they use that affect of snatching and dragging the beat to slam it down and kick off the first verse. As the song progresses my pupils begin to dilate further and further and by the time that breakdown kicks in I am on the floor convulsing. So powerful it can induce a seizure.

Yes, a project like that would just damage even more her image, people would be thinking "didn't she released a single just yesterday?". If it was well produced, with REALLY good tie-ins, and it was some sort of a reinvention for her image, it could work (but with less than 12 singles in a row, something like 6 limited singles would be better). I actually thought that this was a good idea for her to do after giving birth, because it was a "new beginning" for her career.

And well, Ayu did a project with a five releases together each month, but it was different things, like mini-album / classical album / DVD, and I think she did pretty well.

I don't think this would be the reaction at all. If anything I think public (excluding her fanbase) would say "Oh she still makes music?", "I haven't heard anything from her in 3 years, etc". She really needs a grand project like that or a best album of some sort to get her back somewhat into the public eye imo.

oaristos 26th March 2015 04:19 PM

I don't think that'd be a good idea. I mean, Ayu tried something like that for ther 15th anniversary and it didn't turn out well in the end. In terms os quality, promotion, etc. :(

Gustavopc 26th March 2015 04:29 PM

ayu was a bit of trouble cause first there were two maxi singles tagged as EPs so they say she had a #1 album that year, as Party Queen and A SUMMER BEST failed to get #1 on Oricon (sorry if I'm ofending anyone, but that's the only reason I can think of why they were not singles). A CLASSICAL was a win, but then she had LOVE again which let many fans down (not me tho). And she ended the releases with... the CDL. It started well, but it was a mess on the long run.

I don't think Kuu needs to make this "x releases per y amount of time" anymore. Her 10th anniversary had lots of good stuff well spaced and not rushed: New album in February, remix album in March, summer single, cover album and a ballad single as well. Not to mention UNIVERSE Tour DVD, BRAZIL and iirc there was that special DVD of live perfomances. I hope she keeps this strategy for her 15th anniv, it was not a buzz booster, but everything she did felt fine for me.

I agree. It worked back then, but I don't think it would work now...

thinkingoutloud89 26th March 2015 04:58 PM

I also think it wouldn't change anything..maybe even decrease her popularity.
AAA is doing something like this atm (7 singles in 7 month) - I'm actually a sucker for such things - yet i know I'll get an album at the end with all songs on it so I don't even bother to listen to the singles lol. (I just like the idea and the fact, that the covers add to a complete picture)

Exactly. Plus, they decided to release everything on the 8th day of each month, which was a terrible idea, and because of that "again" only charted for four days during its first week. Even "LOVE again", that debuted at #1, charted for only four days as well. That's why everything sold so poorly (not that they were going to sell one million copies anyway).

THIS. I absolutely loved the way she decided to celebrate her 10th anniversary! That year was full of good releases and they were pretty spaced. I think that's way better than releasing another BEST full of things that people don't want to/are not going to buy. She wasted her last hits on BEST~third universe~. Even Ayu needed Mirrorcle World to make A COMPLETE a success. I don't see a big hit coming for Kumi at this point :no

I personally wouldn't say it did well. The LOVE/again → LOVE again and Maro fiasco surrounding it actually hurt her fan base quite a bit, I think. The fact that LOVE, a mini album/single, outsold LOVE again, a full album just three months later, says a lot about how her fans felt toward it tbh.
