It's still doing damn great
Bc it's separated, so if you wan to buy both album, means you are really buying A BEST 2, you'll have to pay a total number of 70~100 dollars, that's not very small. This sales is still really amazing for 2 full album to be sold till this time

Okay, I just found out platinum/gold stats for various countries that ayu releases her records in:

Hong Kong - (For foreign artists) - Gold = 10,000 - Platinum = 20,000
South Korea - Gold = 15,000 - Platinum = 30,000
Taiwan - (For foreign artists) Gold - 10,000 - Platinum = 20,000
Singapore - Gold = 7,500 Platinum = 15,000

Um. Yeah I'm pretty sure Ayu could have gotten platinum in those places plenty of times then O_o? If only we could see her numbers..

Something I do know is that "I am.." was certified in HK cause at her press conference there in 2002 they gave her the official certification plaque thingy.. I just dunno if it was for gold or platinum..

pop909 28th April 2007 11:17 PM

20k copies in Hong Kong O_O. Is the industry weak there?

Looks it.. 50 000 is platinum for a HK but keep in mind that HK is a city. For China as a whole, I think it's much higher because a Mariah Carey album sold 200,000 there and it only got Gold.

ayu_fan929 29th April 2007 03:38 AM

HK only has a population of 7 million...

ayu-marco 29th April 2007 07:47 AM

but many HK ppl seldom buy CDs
they like illegal downloading

hiroshi_ben 29th April 2007 01:14 PM

A lot of people in Singapore like to download too...instead of buying her albums...most of my friends download her songs too.

And her average sale over here is 10 000 and the highest sale is 20 000 or more for A BEST if i did rem correctly..

Yeah, I hope they'll be #1 & #2 again, GO A BEST 2 =3
Oh between, are A BEST 2 already available in China ?

LMAO, you're so right xDDDD
:yes

I don't understand why we diss certain countries/people when they say or do something a bit "mean" about/to Ayu. It's kind of inane to compare countries based upon their devotion and adulation of Ayu. We certainly do not have to bring politics into this conversation of pop culture, do we?

Sorry, hun, but nobody "dissed" Korea or its people. I merely said that she doesn't need Korea since she has Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, etc. As in, she's successful in those places, and not Korea. She doesn't need to be successful in Korea. :rolleyes She has enough fans around the rest of Asia

ayu-marco 30th April 2007 06:31 PM

Regarding to the total CDs sales in Korea, her music industry is quite weak

Sorry if I'm a bit rude, but that information is already posted. :) I'm not sure if it's in this thread, so thanks anyway! :D

Let me clarify. While your comment does not directly say something impudent, it does reveal a veiled kind of impudence. You are dismissing an entire nation based upon the fact that Ayu is not as popular there as in other Asian countries such as Taiwan and the mainland of China, as well as basing the relative "worth" of a nation based upon the popularity of Ayu.

And please do not use the patronizing "hon" when addressing me.

I'm not talking about the country. I'm talking about it's music market. "It does reveal a veiled kind of impudence" Well sorry but no "veiled kind of impudence" was intended :rolleyes

If I say that Ayumi doesn't need America because she already Japan, China, etc. Does that mean I'm "dissing" America? Lol.
