I hope everything works out for her though in the end and she doesn't have to stop her singing for it and that there is something that they can do for her other ear to prevent it from it following the same fate ; ;.

Yeah, it's been affected since she started using actual instruments at her concerts, since she did quite a few at the time. I always thought it was deaf, but to know it's not treatable is bad. It could explain the lack of CREA material lately, yet she was able to at least compose "Will" not too long ago (which is an effortless masterpiece, IMO).

It may not explain her tone-deafness, but it does explain her dwindiling lack of TV appearances.

@UHPlus: Remember that everyone isn't a fan-club member. Unless press actually hears wind of this, there is a great possibility that it won't get out to the general public; or another option is Ayu announcing it during an interview.

but remember there's A LOT of japanese who are in her fan-club...and many are in the news/magazine/papers business...

they can even take private photos of ayumi drunk in a gay bar why can't they know she's deaf? .make sense?

She did Will with DAI so it's possible she contributed about 25%, while he did a majority of the composition.

Well the break-up news was also only available to both Ayu's and Nagase's FC site at first I think...

i've always thought she needed a break
she can still make music, but she doesn't need to have the whole "OMG I NEED TO RELEASE A SINGLE WITHIN 4 MONTHS"
relax for a while, go for a vacation, look for inspiration, and then go back to japan and just chill at home, cooking and writing lyrics
but i have to say, this is her 10th year, i don't think she'll stop in 2008
i hope she does, and even if she doesn't, i hope she does in 2009

Well... ayu doesn't decide those stuff... avex pretty makes her plans and schedules... she just brings the lyrics, recording, performing and suggesting/producing...
I hope that avex will go easy on her.

NOOOO...What bad news to hear at the start of the new year...she needs to take a break. This has been a problem since 01 I believe, and stuff like her always fighting through her troubles makes me want to slap every person who badmouths her. For someone as famous and topdog such as herself, she shows an amazing amount of dedication and loyalty to fans and staff. But I don't want her going deaf for us...
