I don't think they exaggarate. I believe the numbers are from their their reports to investors, and they are public and lying to investors/owners is a fraud.

there's just a lot that Oricon doesn't count. do the actual sales for every artist can be like 10-30% prercent more than the number oricon reports. like most of the overseas sales?

criminal 8th January 2008 05:41 PM

I don't know... Black Cherry sold [Oricon-wise] just over 1 million with a quadruple A-side that sold ~400k [all 4 songs were on the album], a double (ballad) A-side that sold ~300k and a huge ringtone hit that sold ~270k.
For Kingdom we have a single with 4 new songs that sold ~200k [only one song is on the album], plus other singles with sales around the 90-120k mark.
I'd have to be REALLY optimistic to see Kingdom as a million-seller.

Anyway, yeah, I think Ayumi's Asia Tour 2 announcement helped the stocks rise, too.

Yes I think there were rumors or actually some statement by avex that the next a-nation will be also in Asia.

avex sales report is not copies bought by the consumer( like oricon's). what they report is Copies sold to stores, third parties, etc
you can check all of that in RIAJ's yearbook

i know that because i did a market research on japanese music industry this year.

ok back on topic, I think its not just ayumi that made the stock rise, i think its mainly EXILE's doing. dang if i was an investor i would buy some avex stocks looking at the amazing sales their album got.
and i do agree ayu's news did help her boost the sales of guilty (intencionally or not) , due this public relation boost i think most of the investors saw an opportunity to dip some cash into the whole loss ear wagon.

but i highly doubt that rise is 100% ayus... still, this are great news for all avex's artists

Neo Daydream 8th January 2008 06:44 PM

she's getting more attention... worldwide attention... so itz possible that the ear problems could take her global *shrugs* i'm glad the stocks are rising tho ^^

I think they do enhance the numbers a little or report them in a way that looks better. The report is to attract investors so they'll probably make them more appealing. Like I imagine they report the copies sold to the stores which might not have been sold in the first place to the customers.

The stocks rising thing is a good thing. Many artists have been having low budget singles (compared to 2005-06). This might mean avex will spend more on certain artists.

roflmao 10/10

Eigakan 8th January 2008 10:04 PM

I don't think this has anything direct connection.

nightlightyear 8th January 2008 10:06 PM

A bit of a good and bad situation? =\

An increase of stocks is good but to say that its out of sympathy? Erm...?

4ever*ayu 8th January 2008 10:10 PM

Can't believe Avex's stock still get so much influence from ayu after all these years..

it's a good thing...

ayuayu798 8th January 2008 10:12 PM

I agree. I don't think it has anything to do with Ayu. EXILE already has a million selling album + with their 3 Best albums next year + a dome tour, I think a lot of investors are buying avex stock.

Maybe this could be the key to the extremely small chance of GUILTY reaching #1 this week.

Yup. If GUILTY doesn't reachs the #1 this week, it won't have how to reach anymore.

I thought it wasn't a full arena tour. few arena's only at the biggest cities and mostly smallers halls elsewhere ?

ayu_fan929 8th January 2008 10:57 PM

Nope, it was all arenas.

4ever*ayu 8th January 2008 10:57 PM

^that's it, few arenas and halls, that's why they call it Arena Tour.

i'm sorry to bother, i don't know anything about Koda,lol..

omEigaMan 9th January 2008 12:49 AM

Actually, if I'm reading the Japanese correctly, it doesn't say the stock price has gone up. In fact, it's dropped a touch (13 yen). The article says that the amount of trading of Avex' stock has increased - so it's become more active on the market. That could be because some people want out and it could be because others want in. If the price has only dropped 13 yen in the last day (that's about 1% - last close was 1,337 yen/share), it would appear the overall price effect is minimal. We'll have to watch it for the next few days.

truehappiness 9th January 2008 01:42 AM

Stocks change every day though..

Why would it happen after Ayu's announcement? :|

~X2RADialbomber~ 9th January 2008 01:46 AM

^ Yeah, you have a point. Stocks would rise if there was an actual change in how much avex has sold...
