slavomiros 7th June 2008 10:45 PM

yeah, a totally deserved success even after 10 years...well...happy anniversary Ayu! anyway, i love the A Song for XX performance at CDL 06/07

Okay, I will admit that "A Song for XX" is beautiful, but you guys are gonna hate me for asking this:

How is it percepted as uplifting/supportive? It's pretty sad (dare I say depressing) everytime I look at it.

Quote:

I was born alone. I'll go on living alone.
I thought that surely that kind of life is appropriate.
:confused

Is it like, "I don't need anybody; I can stand up for myself," or something? It always looks to me like it's saying, "I don't need anybody; who needs a life without supporters?"

Sorry for being so blind. T.T I just never understood how people saw it as powerful!

I want the job of creating polls at Oricon.
I would be good at it and it would totally beat my current job.

Oh and, in response to your question:

:confused

Basically, if you look at the first parts of the song, someone is obviously sticking around to help her.
So she isn't saying she actually is better off, she is saying that she thought she WOULD be alone,
but thank goodness, she isn't. Does that make sense?

Amazing!

Ayu had really impressive song writing skills even back then :heart

thanks for the good news!!
I really like A Song for XX too!!
it's really a great song with very impacting lyrics!!

Nami Nami Nami 8th June 2008 08:47 PM

The poll's actually about artists' signature songs.

jonneh 9th June 2008 02:17 AM

This is great news, because ASFXX is one of those really powerful songs that she lets out rarely, every so often. Her lyrics sometimes don't really get to me or make me think too much, especially nowadays, but there are some songs out there that are just like "wow..". ASFXX is one of them. I also like the lyrics of "alterna".

I totally agree with you. And it's one of my fav songs from ayu. I really love it.

Whaaa? Zard I understand completely if that's true, but Ayu? Surely M or Seasons or even Evolution would've topped it in that case? Or something that was a single at least?

Very deserving, in my opinion.

I heartily agree with both your surprise and the sentiments that it's well deserved! ASFXX seems to be almost the 'core' of many of Ayu's songs or their theme.

With the help of your response, yes, everything seems to make sense. :) Thank you very much!

It's not that I hate the song or anything (because I love it!! :D), I just never quite looked at the lyrics thoroughly. :tipsy

*just realizes she hasn't said this yet* Thanks for the info on the poll! :)

HolyDragon10 11th June 2008 01:59 PM
