This PV actually saddens me atm...so it's hard to make a general assessment.

um...well I thought it was really nice...I actually like the song better now too.

Some of the things the director did was corny...but it didn't hurt the PV at all.

I like it, I think it was good. :)

I like the dream interpretation too, I have to watch it again...but going off memory...it makes more sense. lol

Ayu_desu 3rd December 2008 09:21 AM

Niceee, the song was actually quite refreshing. I love the bells in the beginning and all Christmasy feeling I get from the song. I think this is the Ayu song and PV I've been waiting since.... 5 years ago?!
The PV was a breath of fresh air. I really like this look from Ayu and the atmosphere in the PV. It would be even more amazing if it was filmed in an actual neighborhood, instead of a set.
I hope her future releases will follow this trend, back to her old self.

"Is it okay for me to stay loving you this way?" T___T

I wonder if there's any sign or symbolism, in her "dream", her friends and Shuya's friends were there, but in reality, the friends are actually not there. And blabla...something *too deep for me maaaaan*

I don't think it was a dream

I think that she was in love with him, but at the end they were just friends.

he was only friendly with her, but at the end he didnt buy the ring bcose she wasn't her girlfriend

then she saw that he had a gf, etc

she maybe she was dreaming to be with him, but at the end he wasn't interested in her that way.

OMG.....
OMG.....
O.O

I LOVED THE PV!!! the shuya part wasnt the biggest twist yet in the PV!! she was dreaming!...yea i agree with milky_way and Ayumiko now...she was dreaming about her love all the while! Her acting was great! She was so excited to see Shuya at the end then broke down very quickly...
IT WAS SOOOO SAD SERIOUSLY...goosh...I was thinking, it was not gonna be so heart-breaking after seeing the spoiler from before but I still felt so much...
and I was just smiling at the screen for the first half of it...

the song was fantastic! It's very x-mas-y and light..not very heavy like her other ballads...yet it has this bittersweet emotion to it...
wonderful wonderful piece
Though, I was expecting the Bridge at the end to have a slightly different tune..for more variation..but im ok...

I can see this song being quite a hit with listeners...its a nice humble tune with a PV which people can relate to....unlike GREEN which was very experimental and the PV had this diva thing going on (i still love it~)

Overall: YES! 10/10 from me...Ishii is a genius at ballad PVs. They are sad and done nicely...The meaning of the PV was great. Friends >>> Lover

mikecavs11 3rd December 2008 09:31 AM

i agree this is the PV ive been waiting for....it just gives me a refreshing ayu feeling, one that i have not felt since 2006, i love it

freedreamer 3rd December 2008 09:35 AM

I think the fact that the ring was on the FOURTH finger of the mystery woman (showing that they are married) was more painful for Ayu...as she dreamt only being his girlfriend..(3rd finger)

and i think...

the PV repeats the scene because one shows the dream and the other shows reality...

the closing eye at the start shows the fantasy...and then opening again with NO ONE in sight (even the guy disappearing)...kinda shows that, in reality, you are really alone..and people around you are strangers...
and THEN,
her friends give her a surprise at the end...
seeming to say,
HOWEVER, despite everything, You have your friends to fall back on :D

I think someones previous analysis may have been correct: that Shuya isn't really a player, but that most of the video is a dream. The clock is the key.

The start of the video shows Ayu laying down and the clock at 6pm. Everything from then on is a dream until the next shot of the clock striking 8:01. She wakes up to the sound of Shuyas motorcycle just like in the dream - she rushes out to meet him but is then confronted with the reality of his girlfriend.

Only thing I can't figure exactly is the ring - if it were Ayu's dream, he would buy it for her right?

Ok, I really need to go to sleep now!

Even though Ayu chose it and wished for Shuya to buy it for her but he didn't. That's was part of the dream. You can see how disappointed Ayu was :(

Sometimes I think simple pv may knock down an experimental pv. To me, Days' plot is pretty simple to understand (except the debate of whether she's dreaming or not in the first half...). What I really love is how they include scenes of ayu's "eyes". The part when the dancers are dancing, her "eyes" only focused on shuya. That's a extremely great part. It tells the way a person would do when he or she is really in love with someone. Like you never shift your focus, and you really wanna imprint your love in your memory. And I really like the end when her "eyes" were there again but nothing being focused.

I kinda wonder if that's really dream tho. I think it should be a dream. But then I can't explain the day scene (when they are looking at the jeweleries). Or are those part of the memories within a dream? I dunno..

I agree it's not beautiful. Somehow... when you were young (or when I was young duh lol), you would probly consider that as a cute thing... Like you dun think it's pretty, somehow it attracts you.

freedreamer 3rd December 2008 09:43 AM

^haha ok yea true...that's a mystery...
maybe for PV's sake, it was just a foreshadow...
OR maybe Shuya wanted to buy for her next time? haha...to surprise her...proposal? (though thats a bad choice)..
in the end, the mystery woman DID have the ring on her fourth finger..

but probably for some youth/street punks...money is of concern HAHA

(actually the PV seems so harsh on Ayu...2 hoours before, she was just dreaming about being in love with him..and then 2 hours later, she faces this truth..)

herumesu 3rd December 2008 09:44 AM

All the things happened before 8pm was actually a dream of ayu...

she dreamed that she was the girl who rode on shuya's bike and hanged out with him..

but in reality she is not, Shuya has already fell in love with another girl

majrakun 3rd December 2008 09:44 AM

Probably even her dream is telling her, "Dream on, Ayu. No ring for you here, too." :P

YotaLM21 3rd December 2008 09:49 AM

OMG!!!!! I love it! I love the song, i love the story ;_; is so deep...OH MY!!!

It hit me right in the heart... poor Ayu... now i reaaaaaally don't like shuya AT ALL!!!

Such a great story in such a simple pv... very well done Ayu, this is one of the best things you've made this year

Now I'm actually crying T_T this is not meant to be watched by someone who recently broke up....

Most of the girls would be disappointed if their secret crushes didn't buy some special for her...

But I'm still kinda confused about that dream part... Why would she dream about the day scene, and the dance scene...?

mishidabo 3rd December 2008 09:57 AM

LOL

She got pwned XDDDDDDDD

i must admit she looks cute in the pink outfit tho

argh, cant believe i'm saying this but i actually liked the song :no

At first I thought he was a player but what kept bothering me was the clock. It said 6:01 in which Ayu meets with Shuya, then later it says 8:01 in which the same scene repeats except with non-friends and a sadder outcome. I figured the rendezvous was a dream but I can't tell if the rest up till the 8:01 rendezvous is a dream or reality.

My interpretation is the ring scene was a flashback. Ayu+Shuya are friends. As they walk to the dance studio, they run into a merchant on the street selling rings. Ayu was pointing out that the ring was nice, and put it on her finger to show how it would look. She possibly was hinting him to buy it for her, but nothing is intended since they are just friends. The merchant asked if it was for her and Shuya said "oh shes not my girlfriend".

I think the scene was real because Ayu cries later when seeing the ring on another girl. Shuya meant a lot to her, but the ring did also. She had to have seen it somewhere IN PERSON. Only problem is during the 8:01 rendezvous, Shuya kinda gives a half-smile as if he barely knows her, which Shuya was friendly in the 6:01 rendezvous and the ring scene. So did she really see that ring before or was it part of the dream too?

This PV surprisingly makes you think! And its not like that homoerotic crap from GREEN PV! Takahide Ishii, great job on another ballad pv! Part of me, Days, I await your 3rd masterpiece.

micster 3rd December 2008 10:10 AM

Well conclusively its better than GREEN. [Then again I think THIS is a better video than GREEN and its quite an awful video]

But let me go into details - For one I actually enjoyed this; There was a clear narrative - Not a lot of performance - It was good; it flowed well. Acting wasnt as bad apart from her gurn whilst starting to cry. But theres a clear message underlaying the whole video of how you'll always have your friends to get you through bad times and thats a bloody lovely message.

Also, SNOW. Now sure I could look out my window to see some snow at the moment but the video did it lovely with conjunction with what she was wearing - I think though there should've been more on the ground nearer the end though, But thats probably just me.

Now why is it much much superior to GREEN? Is it the song. Im not sure, I mean we hadnt heard Days before so no set ideas could be in my mind about what I'd want to see in the video but im not sure. The song is lovely - The video is lovely - Its all nice and wintery and feels really nice.

Basically im glad I ordered Days / GREEN and I cant believe how positive this has made me that she isnt going into total moronity and suxxerage.

its ok...in real life ayu has a big dior one from mika john :D

jon_the_d 3rd December 2008 10:15 AM

I'm with herumesu and majrakun, from when the clock shows 08:00 and fades to white right at the start, is showing her dream. when it changes to 08:01, and she wakes up for real.

And the fact he doesn't give her the ring, even in the dream, I think just is ayu's own doubts and fears, or even a kind of premonition, or her awareness of reality breaking through into the dream.

I love this PV, ayu is so cute and it's so touching, especially at the end, when you're watching her walk away alone, and you're thinking "Awwww, poor ayu, where's all her friends when she needs them?" and then they all come running out!... brilliant!

The song is really nice too, I'm very happy with this one....

Let's hope this single does well!!!

Well done Ayu!!!
