so my predictions were right.. i knew it would be MW because she simply doesnt have time to come up with a new performance. She would recycle something that she is already very familiar in performing..

But then it doesnt seems as though Days is difficult to perform. All ayu needs is a big dress.

oh well.. it's time we see some changes in ayu's performances in Kouhaku.. ayu will rock the stage!!

I was so sure that she'll be doing GREEN exactly like the PV with all the costume, dancing, and the hair... Oh, well... She'll definitely stand out with MIRRORCLE WORLD...

i thought she would use GREEN or Days for promotion... but i'm not complaining.

That is kind of surprising. Either she's trying to cap off her 10th anniversary year of some sort, or she just likes MW even more...

But here's something that is even more surprising:

Ikimono's song is from 2006 - that's kind of too old - two years old outdated! Any comments on this as well as MW decision?

I don't really think it was up to Ayu! I read somewhere that Kouhaku pick the song if it fits this year's event theme! So maybe they picked it for her!! I'm surprised she didn't sing Days or GREEN but her Mirrircle World performances are always great!!
I'm sure she'll save GREEn for PCDL!

I dun think Kouhaku picks the song. They probly have influence on what should sing, but in the end it's the artists who make the final decisions on what songs they're gonna sing.

I do think MW is the most "ayu" song of this year.. But she sings it so badly on live. I was expecting to see Days with a fluffy cute dress...

I agree with bluegie. It's definitely been around a lot longer than Days, which just came out. Of course it would make sense she sings MW, but it doesn't sound as good live; still good nonetheless. Days would be perfect I think...it's a much less intense song and would go perfect with a dress. Singing in a dress with MW just looks a little weird, although she's done it in the PV and many other live perfs.

It could be that they want to perform it because it is their first time appearance on Kouhaku. Doesn't have to be the most current song that is always performed. There have been times when artists have performed songs that are more than four years old at Kouhaku (non Enka). For example SPEED is doing "White Love" this year. That song is from 1997. ;)

Aw...I'd love for Ayu to sing one of her older songs then. That would be so awesome. For me Dearest and Voyage come to mind. She's always sung nice laid back songs. Mirrorcle World is a little intense I think. It's like a huge guitar onslaught and quite a heavy song in general. Maybe she'll do a special arrangement version? I doubt it.

I think she chose Mirrorcle World because it is the 10th Anniversary anthem. Days/GREEN or GREEN/Days are just the new singles for the next project (album...).

Since the Kouhaku is a year-end celebration, Mirrorcle World best fits as Ayu's goodbye to 2008---The year of her 10th Anniversary.

why MW again, I'm a bit borroed of it. maybe she will perform GREEN at CDL?
but i would like to see her performing something more ballad like than MW!

(I think like its often in music business that someone chose the song and not Ayu.)

Ugh, I am tired of her Mirrorcle World performances. If she would change it up a bit every once in a while it would be cool, but it's always exactly the same :(

It was a surprise for me. I expected her to sing ballad as always. But I`m totally happy that she`s doing MW, it`s my favourite song this year:)
