go GREEN! Didn't part of Me win in the same category in 2007?

koumori 5th February 2009 12:28 PM

Wow ^^ That's so coool...

But the GREEN PV was so colourful and artistic; so it's not a huge surprise. ^^

Good luck to Ayu-chaaan <33

If she wins the art director will accept the award not her.

really? why?

Alther 5th February 2009 09:01 PM

That's cool. The PV was so cool. So congrats to Ayu and the director

tanachu 5th February 2009 09:22 PM

Oh hold up. Nuh-uh. This was one of her worst PVs ever.

On the contrary...

This video's art direction was absolutely spectacular, and one of the best things about the video. The Direction was horrible, yes, but they're two entirely different things.

The art director decides on things like color choices, color changes, video effects (not those in the realm of editing, but things like "let's make it less saturated" or "let's give it a dreamy quality"), and the overall "look" of the video. The director decides things like camera placement, how people move, and often the concept. The director says "let's give this a worms-eye view" or "i want you to walk quickly, like you're in a hurry" or "this is gonna be filmed from Ayu's POV." Not at ALL what the video is nominated for.

The art direction in "GREEN" was fabulous. The art director decided ayu's clothes should go from White to Red, that the outdoor scenes should be more brown, that the Red colored things outside should be brighter than everything else, that the pink backdrop on the stage should be purple when she's up there. Things like that. That stuff was the high point of "GREEN". The color choices alone warrant a full interpretation discussion. The video might not win this award, but from a filmmaking standpoint, the art direction was VERY strong in "GREEN".

THanks for making this post.

coOOll~, go ayu and the team~. this video is definitely different than her others. there are many really nice shots, though as a whole i feel like some parts are lacking. dont get me wrong, i like the video, i just feel like more could have been done with what they had. none the less, still a great video. hope she wins~.

this was a great analysis and explanation. so, for example, the atmosphere of the backstage, like dusty, and that dim light... the art director has a word inthis details? and for example, in the light at te end of the video... a great (in the sense of nice) daybreak light???

relmy 7th February 2009 11:37 PM

This is really good! <3 I really liked the GREEN PV, so I hope it wins. Artistically it was very beautiful too, especially the outside scenes.

jimex289 8th February 2009 02:10 AM

Yep...this PV is good mainly for the aesthetics portion. The direction the video went in is a whole other story.
