well each person can have his/her perception...
for me the lyric is nice...
i assumed it as a story of a sin done for keeping a love
it has such a religion feel just like M

HanabiChick 26th August 2003 07:37 PM

I've been listening to it again, and I can definitely hear this part:

But I wanted only keep my love
Every cardinal sins
Every immoral things
But I was holding on for my love

For the backing singers, I can make out what they're singing, but just the first part :

War and distraction

I think it's not those words, I think it's 'war and destruction' - that would make more sense, and when I listen that's what I hear.

Probably best forAyumi to STOP singing Engrish or attempting to... Only good songs where can can fully understand her was in Everywhere Nowhere, Heartplace, and Over.

Real Me, Forgiveness and you just can't understand her... notl ike I lsiten to Forgiveness anyway. Just that she can't speak nor sing English/Engrish

I think perhaps you are looking too deep in meaning of her songs maybe? Perhaps she just doesn't know what the poop she is talking about... I mean think about it like this... she barely knows English yet she uses sophistacated words like cardinal? Just doesn't connect.

I'm surprised she use Surreal as a song title. I didn't even comprehend what the poop Surreal was until I looked it up. o.O

And does she say "trauma" on trauma? I looked up some lyrics I didn't see it in there... but it sounds like it?

Ayusdream 28th August 2003 02:36 AM

she started to use english in her lyrics since the album "rainbow", but u still can find songs she sings english, like "monochrome" and "love since 1999" (this one is not written by her", some japanese words are just pronounced like english, cuz those words are copied from english

Obviously she got someone else to translate what she wants to say in English. Most Asian artists do that nowadays. You should appreciate that she uses very poetic Enrish lyrics. Had she said 'Oh I miss you baby' I think everyone would complain much more..

This is tasteless

I think you should be ashamed... Ayumi Hamasaki is JAPANESE. She doesn't speak English fluently because of that reason. You should know by now that she writes her own songs and because of that she most likely doesn't have someone help her. So please, just because you expect her to speak as well as an American, don't. Consider yourself in her place. Be more considerate of her work. I don't mean to preach, but think about it...

this guessin is goin have no end..haha...

i wonder why doesn't avex put the lyrics in the single booklet!

Piccolo 24th September 2003 04:12 AM

Geez, I wasn't that off from my guess. They were similar to eldarion's.

All I wanted to believe in my love
Everybody sins
Everyone forgives
But I was holding on for my love

Thanks for sharing the mysterious engilsh lyrics :)

CREA 24th September 2003 06:25 AM

I know this is quite an old topic.. but I just recently saw the ayu ready? episode 48 where she performs the acoustic version of "forgiveness" and at the end it sounds more like:

But I want to only keep my love
Every cardinal sins
Every immoral things
But I was holding on for my love

The only difference from the japanese fansite being the "wanted" and "want to" in the first line. So possibly if what I heard was correct, we can give Ayu a few extra grammar points.. lol. But using 'every' with plurals.. ^^; But I don't forsake her for using english lyrics, we might not always completely understand, but at least she wants to try something new for her fans overseas. (She should have included them in the single booklet!)

Also, the chorus in the background is singing (I think):

"War and destruction,
Crime and desire"

Then they repeat what ayu says at the end.

And on an ending note, I think all of her performances of "forgiveness" have been more than spectacular. She has so much power in her voice, and you can just feel the emotion. Now I'm sounding a bit cheesy.. :P Oh well.

voltron 24th September 2003 03:15 PM

I think she's saying:

But I want to (pronounced like tuh) only keep my love
Every cardinal sin
Every immoral deed
But I was holding on for my love

I don't think she really pluralizes the words, it just sounds like it because of her pronunciation.

Rebirthia 25th October 2004 05:29 PM

my guess:

Chorus:

War and destruction.
Crime and desire.
But I wanted only keep my love. * (ungrammatical)
Every carnal / capital sin.
Every immoral deed
But I was holding on for my love

Ayu:

But I wanted only keep my love
Every carnal / capital sin
Every immoral deed
But I was holding on for my love

Rebirthia 25th October 2004 05:30 PM

the word "thing" is not very literary, don't you think so?

AyumiFanGuy 25th October 2004 05:46 PM

I still think she says:

"Oh, I want to belive in my love.
Every promise is
Everyone forgives
But I was holding on for my love"

At least most of us can agree on the last line.
:yes

gakkun 26th October 2004 02:20 AM
