there's a lot of j-pop artists that bore me now, i really used to love it but these days they're all sounding really awful to me save for a few artists like Kuu, Maki Goto, Ami, and Tenjochiki (since they do japanese stuff too) but the others i'm losing a lot of interest in. they all sound so stale now.
so i just listen to k-pop most of the time now since it sounds so much better imo, and always fun to listen to too. |

Same goes for Koda. I don't like her music pre-secret or post-BEST~ss~ except some Kingdom tracks that were quite decent. |
I find the single-minded popularity of Johnny's Jimusho boring, to be honest. J-pop, that is Japanese popular music, used to have such diversity in terms of what was popular. I think I wouldn't mind the Johnny's phenomenon so much if there was some variety at least. Where are the shocks to the system? Chitose Hajime, bird, Ringo Shiina, Cocco, UA, Rip Slyme, Nanase Aikawa, Chara, Hitoto Yo, Shonen Knife, m-flo, Cornelius, Angela Aki, Tomoyasu Hotei, Puffy, The Pillows, Mongol 800, Pizzicato Five, Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra. It used to be so exciting.
I'm just starting to get into mihimaru GT and I hope they won't disappoint in the end. I'm also thinking about giving Remioromen, Aqua Timez, and Sukima Switch a try. I think English-language music is beginning to get interesting again, so I'm listening to it more and more these days. Amy Winehouse, for one. And now Lady GaGa! I will have to say that my relationship with Ayu's music sort of goes beyond feelings of like or dislike, love or hate, interest or disinterest. It's hard to articulate it, but the simplest way is to say that her music has been the soundtrack of my life. Her words, the way she sings her words, the feelings that she fills her words with, have such resonance with me, that I feel like I would be cheapening my emotions if I say that listening to her music is just a matter of consumption or taste on my part. What can I say? Ayu is singing about me. The brilliance of rollin' is obviously lost on a lot of people. No one sings "jidai ga meguru" on a dance song, in a chorus! And it's a dance song that's meditative and negative! Who does that? That's just brilliantly audacious. |
I totally understand you, i began to listened j-pop at 2002 i was crazy about it, but times at times i just take a break for the same reasons of you =( , and today the new artists that i fell in love are uematsu hideki and breakerz ^^

Oh my, no never. I listen to nothing but J-pop/Asian music and there's so much out there I have yet to discover, so I never get bored with it or lose interest with it. I love it too much!

It's not as if I don't like JPop, I just lost a bit of interest recently. I just don't think that the latest releases have been as entertaining as before, which is why I prefer KPop at the moment, they have a lot of catchy songs. I've also started to listen to western music again, I'm really loving Lady Gaga and Lily Allen's music lately. However, I have found some really amazing JPop singers, but I'm just not as interested as before.

I have lost 100% interest in J-Pop.
It's not as fresh and new as it used to be. Ayu's music is really boring now, Kuu's newest album was crappy, it takes forever for Namie to release something (but it turns out great), and Hikki's in America. I honestly can't remember the last time I listened to a Japanese musician. I turned to K-Pop; it's almost like American pop in another, cooler dimension. |

NEVER! Because I have Ayu and Tohoshinki.
|
No nearly 90% of my music is Jpop/Jrock
|
i never lose interest in J-Pop... they come up with the BEST style....
Ayu and Namie rocks~ |
elepop, I completely understand what you're going through obviously, and it honestly only lasts for a few months. You start to miss people like BoA and Namie (or whoever you like) and crave them after not hearing them for ages. Stick to K-pop for a while, and eventually you'll miss your good old J-pop and want to hear the music you've missed! (in my case Kuu's TABOO and BoA's Eien :heart)
:shughug |
Nope.
