Yes, Arashi is very selfish. It's totally their fault. It has nothing to do with Johnny's Entertainment deciding EVERYTHING that has to do with their groups and wanting more money. Which makes sense since Arashi is the most profitable group in Japan right now.

I agree they're releasing a bit too much right now, but I don't see why people are always going on about things like that. Nobody's FORCING you to buy everything. Heck, nobody's forcing you to even listen to everything.

Take me. I just check every now and then to see if they have something new. If I like something I'll download it or even buy it, if not, I forget about them for a while. It's only as crazy as you make it : P

and you don't need to go so far as to call arashi selfish. that's the LAST thing arashi is. maybe if you actually followed their own personal activities (drama shootings, variety shows, etc...) instead of just focusing on their music release pattern for this year, you would know that. because to me, helping senior citizens and helping people succeed in what they want to do (variety shows: Mago Mago Arashi & G no Arashi) is not even close to being selfish. do you actually believe that arashi are the ones scheduling their music releases? don't you know their managed by a talent agency? maybe their the ones to blame for being "selfish" :rolleyes it's a business. because their at their peak of popularity, of course their gonna be in demand for frequent music releases! it's not their fault, personally. that's just how business goes.

and about your "self-destruction" comment, that's purely your own opinion. arashi haven't been this popular for all 11 years of being in the business, they only got popular in 2008. that's just 2 years ago! (maybe 3 if you consider 2007 to be the gradual start of it all). even if they decline in sales eventually (which is to be realistically expected. even i know that popularity can't last forever) they'll always be known just like all the other JE groups that have had success before them. even if their sales decline, that does not mean all of japan is sick of them, seeing as how they aren't just singers. if japan isn't sick of other JE groups who have been around for at least 15+ years, then i don't think they'll be sick of arashi anytime soon either.

also, just because sales could decline in the future, that doesn't mean the public won't like them. the public still likes TOKIO, V6, SMAP, KAT-TUN, NEWS, and Hey!Say!JUMP even if they don't get such high sales like arashi. if people didn't like any other group besides for arashi, these groups wouldn't still be in demand for dramas, concerts, etc... the general public still loves these JE groups. to judge everything just on music sales is nothing considering these guys are actors, show hosts, radio hosts, etc...they aren't just artists. :yes fortunately, i think the public still loves JE despite their crazy business tactics. people shouldn't blame everything on the guys themselves. they aren't fully running their career, they are ultimately owned by a boss, producers, and staff. i wish people would stop attacking arashi or any other JE groups when it's the talent agency who is managing their careers at the end of the day.

The normal edition of Boku no Miteiru Fukei is basically a standard 2CDs edition packaging except I realised that the CD casing used for a 2CDs edition album , it's a lot more thicker than usual :O

Arashi members hold secret birthday party, Matsujun touched to tears

Johnny's popular group Arashi's Matsumoto Jun had his 27th birthday on August 30, members of arashi specially prepared a grand celebration party, which had matsujun touched to tears.

Under the suggestion of leader Ohno Satoshi, during last weekend members of Arashi specially rented an Italian restaurant in Azabu to celebrate Matsujun's birthday. Although it falls on the 30th but due to the busy schedule of members it is difficult to gather together on that day thus they decided to bring forward the celebration. As according, the staff of Hitmitsu no Arashi-chan and Arashi ni Shiyagare participated in the preparation of this party. "to give matsumoto a surprise, everyone lied to him that they are coming to this eatery for the filming of Hitmitsu no Arashi-chan for location shooting" accordingly in normal circumstances staff does not help in the parties of artistes (as it is out of their work field) but this is "for the sake of arashi only". Arashi not only became the most money-making idol group in a short time, their charm also mesmerised many in the entertainment industry.

The party started from midnight 00AM, members of Arashi each brought their sincerely prepared presents. "Recently Matsujun is into yakiniku (Korean barbecue) and hot springs", members thus use this as a guide to start their "detailed investigation". Ohno Satoshi and Ninomiya Kazunari had chosen hot spring lodging vouchers, while Aiba Masaki and Sakurai Sho selected vouchers of "10 times free eating of yakiniku".

The corner of the last part of the party is, other than Matsujun, the other 4 members shot a VTR video together, consisting of their pictures pieced together from their debut till date. 4 of them even specially added their own narration and music alongside the video. After watching the video matsujun can no longer hold on and said with strong emotions, "it's happiness to be a member of Arashi", while flowing with tears of tenderness.

The friendship and teamwork between members of Arashi is one of their selling point, this time during Matsujun's birthday it once again reflects the thick relationship ties between them. Other members not only sent their carefully prepared presents, but also the shooting of this super "tear bomb" video had let the usual manly Matsujun touched to tears. It can be assuredly said that this is the secret of the popularity of Arashi.

I really thought that my copy was really lost somewhere out there as this's the 1st time I received a mail from 5music so late but thankfully it came & so did my younger sister's friend as well

Anyway I have a friend who's living/working based in Tokyo currently (she's a Taiwanese) & she's going to see ARASHI in performance tomorrow at the National Stadium

no surprises that it wasn't easy for her to get tickets & it cost her more than 7,000 Yen per pop

tomorrow (Sat) is the last day they will be staging their Tour 10-11 concert in Tokyo before they move onto other perfectures in Japan

An Arashi-themed text book ?!

Copies of the mysterious book “Nippon No Arashi” arrived in state elementary, junior high, and senior high schools all over Japan today. According to the accompanying letter, the aims of this book are to teach children about the beauty of Japan and Japanese culture, and to encourage them to visit different parts of Japan. The letter also states that the book itself is not for sale, and that Arashi joined the project as volunteers.

In “Nippon no Arashi”, Arashi feature as tour navigators, presenting a chapter each on different areas of Japan, the people who live there, and the work that they do. For example, Sho visits a rural town in Aichi Prefecture and helps with the Japanese-style farming. There are many pictures in each chapter of Sho, Jun, Aiba, Ninomiya, and Ohno getting hands-on experience and spending time with the locals. These pictures are accompanied by lengthy articles, which are not interviews but detailed reports written by professionals who observed Arashi’s activities.

Published only two days, two copies of “Nippon no Arashi” have already been sent to each school and are destined to be put on school library shelves. Filled with pictures of mostly unknown faces, long articles dotted with words that may be difficult for even junior high students, and with a serious tone overall, it is unknown how many children will fully grasp the meaning of this book. If one thing is certain though, it’s that Arashi’s involvement will keep “Nippon no Arashi” in the hands of Japanese youngsters for years to come.

The introduction of the government-endorsed culture and tourism guide “Nippon no Arashi”, is a strong testament to the popularity of Arashi amongst Japan’s younger generations.

I guess you didn't watched Thurs's Himitsu no Arashi-chan in the Mannequin 5 segment where DAIGO & actor Gekidan Hitori (he plays Serizawa Noriyoshi who's the elder brother of Ikuta Toma's Serizawa Naoto in Maou ) was on the show

Nino & MatsuJun were copying DAIGO's embarassing 'dance' move which he has been doing so frequently from this April onwards all the way to now which he dubbed it Rock Suberu ~_~

JAL launches Arashi Jet

Japan Airlines, which is currently undergoing reconstruction due to its financial troubles, is looking to boost its business with Arashi's help. The airline has commissioned a single "Arashi Jet," which is basically a Boeing 777 whose fuselage is decorated with a 5-meter-tall, 20-meter-wide seal bearing the images of Arashi's members, along with the title of their latest album, "Boku no Miteiru Fuukei."

The plane will take its first flight on Sunday at 1:30pm, flying from Tokyo's Haneda Airport to Osaka. The plane is expected to be primarily used for domestic flights, serving the routes between Haneda and three other airports: New Chitose Airport in Sapporo, Itami Airport in Osaka, and Fukuoka Airport in Fukuoka. JAL plans to use the plane until January 2011.

In addition to the Arashi Jet, JAL will be selling the "Boku no Miteiru Fuukei" album (with a specially designed cover) in-flight on several of its domestic routes.

I don't like the idea that JAL is using Arashi seriously, because I don't like JAL after one of my favorite airline, Delta, failed to grab it and stays with its rival American and stay with the alliance...

And I don't like the idea that Arashi is really a very big hit in Japan, and it's really putting too much strain to other artists, possibly including Ayu...

anyway, i've watched the Love Rainbow earlier, and i love it SO much! :smitten even though they don't do much, they all look absolutely amazing! i know i'm biased, but jun looks extremely good (i love his facial expressions!) and i seriously love the CG background, especially at the end. that rainbow is beautiful! i understand if people think it's boring, but i dunno...i just love it so much! :P

Largest water fountain sets wow 70,000 Arashi fans at National Stadium


Six-hundred tons of water, 15 metre high waterfalls spreading across 400 metres, and 70,000 fans and celebrities were all part of Arashi’s final National Stadium concert last night in Tokyo, reports Sports Hochi.

Starting at sunset, the group opened with the song “Summer Splash!” and appeared from behind a towering wall of water created by the water fountains set up around the entire 400m athletics track.

Their hit single “Monster” closed the concert as 1300 fireworks were set off and all of the fountains shot out water once again.

This had been the third year Arashi had performed at the National Stadium, and compared to previous concerts, had been the longest with 42 songs performed over three-and-a-half hours.

Arashi leader Satoshi Ohno said this year’s concert was not like the previous ones where they had only sang their hit singles.

“This (concert) was about going back to our roots. We wanted to do what we had done in all of the Arashi concerts up to now.

“I got goosebumps when the waterfall opened up and I could see the entire crowd,” he said.

The concert was a show filled with songs from past albums, and even revived the dance-offs they had routinely done in concerts until six years ago.

A large number of celebrities were also spotted in the crowd, including Shun Oguri (27) who had worked with Jun Matsumoto (27) in the “Hanayori Dango” drama series, and Sho Sakurai’s (28) drama co-star from “Tokujo Kabachi!!” Maki Horikita (21). From Johnny’s, Ken Miyake (31) from V6 and Toma Ikuta (25) had come to support the group. Other guests included TV hosts Tomoaki Ogura (63) and Mika Sugisaki (31).

Now in their 11th year since making their debut, the group have become national popstars and have endured a year of ever-amounting work. During the concert, Arashi members had talked about the new problems this populartiy had brought about while preparing for the concert.

They had said that because everyone had busy schedules, it was not until early August that they could begin rehearsals as a group.

“In the end, we only had three or four days to rehearse together,” Matsumoto said.

“We could only get together between midnight and sunrise. It was such a relief when the first concert day came around,” Sakurai said.

Matsumoto talked about how the hot summer weather was another problem.

“Yesterday I thought I was going to pass out. It was serious so I threw cold water on myself,” he said.

The group’s tour will continue from October and run until January next year as they go around venues in Osaka, Sapporo, Tokyo, Nagoya, and Fukuoka, attracting more than 860,000 fans.

All of these concerts will be held in dome stadiums, but Matsumoto said venue size was not what Arashi wanted to focus on in the future.

“We’re not fussed about large scale things and want to perform in halls and arenas again. I can still remember the atmosphere in those places,” he said.

i liked that article about the tour, though. i respect arashi even more than i already do (if that's even possible :P) when i read that they wanted to go back to their roots and when matsujun said they don't need to do big concerts in the future and stuff. so humble and totally real. :weep

Just came back from Gameworks today, playing Derby Owners Club horse racing simulation, and look what I've got - a horse named Arashi:

• No Grade 1 wins at beginning of day
• FIVE (yes, that's right - FIVE - one for each member of Arashi) Grade 1 wins by the time the day ended
• Very close finish at the Stayers Stakes
• As-expected winner in Mile Championship and (supposed NOT to) Japan Cup Dirt
• Final-drive finish to win the Japan Cup and the Derby Owners Cup

That's FIVE Grade 1 wins in a row - and all on the same day!!! Just in time to wish Arashi a good luck on Love Rainbow later this week! They're going #1 110% - or maybe even 1000%!!!

Also, after that, went to Five Guys Burgers and Fries, and they had a board to post comments after done eating (mine was great!), and here's what I said:

Textbooks for school, airplanes with their faces and stadium concerts at this size...mmh, I don't know but this is all too much somehow. I love Arashi, I really do. But lately, I don't know - they are so overexposed and I'm not even in Japan. Everything they release breaks records, sells even more than the single before, and it doesn't even matter if the song is any good, anymore.

I agree too. :yes It seems that Arashi is too much spreading Japan - it might be a bit unfair, especially when the spread usually does NOT include websites officially (to Japanese news outlets, corporate web sites who promote Arashi/Johnny's artists), and even JAL's site on the Arashi jet does not even include the picture of how the airplane looks like because they have to comply with Johnny's regulations on images, which we might not usually like, unless someone leaks out on some kind of social networking site.

^Yes, but that's just JE and not Arashis fault. I really think they deserve their success, they worked hard to get there. But this superstardom that they have now....it makes me miss the old times. I cannot even imagine them doing TV programs like Mago Mago Arashi now. It just seems like they moved on to bigger things and they slowly start to loose the "Boys-next-door" charm that made them so big. It is hard for me to explain. But I felt them much more in 2006/2007 than I feel them now.

But that's success - it always comes with a price.

for me personally, having their own jet, having their own textbook, and all of those things are not the issue. at the end of the day, arashi are still the exact same people that they always were. this crazy popularity hasn't affected their personalities. they are still humble, dorky, and themselves. to me, that is the most important thing. i have no problem at all with all that their getting now. IMO they truly deserve it, so why should it be a problem? the only time when all of this could be a problem is when the popularity gets to them and changes them as people. but in the past 2 years, i don't see a change in them. so until then, i'm good. arashi is still arashi at the end of the day.

I think that this level of success changes a person, if they want it or not. It's not only Arashi, everyone that has success like this changes. Even though famous people always seem to deny this. I don't really get why? It's only natural.

it may be natural for some people, but i highly doubt arashi would just fake their personalities on their variety shows or music appearances. i feel as if they are genuinely the same (i may be biased, lol, but i'm not THAT biased). of course we don't know them personally, but from what i watch, read, etc...i just don't think they would be people who would be fake like that. i really don't. i may be gullible or naive at times, but i can't see them faking themselves for the camera, and acting completely spoiled or whatever outside of that. sure, maybe popularity has changed them in some way, but i can't see where from what i watch of them. :shrug they still act like dorks to me. :P

i'm not mad, btw. just sharing my thoughts, lol. :D this is just what i personally think.

Don't worry, I understand where you come from with what you are saying. I also think it would be extremely hard to fake their personalities and reactions on their TV shows, that wouldn't be possible because they don't have the time to think about how they're going to react ect.

Maybe it is because back then their TV shows were so much better, at least to me. When they interacted with real people on location shoots instead of celebrities in a studio, I felt them so much more, and it's these shows that made me love them.

I also think that the success they have with, imho, lacklustre songs like their latest single is unjustified, but I have to accept that this is the Idol culture and it's not exactly the music that makes people buy their CD's.

yeah, idol culture, when at its peak, can seem so manufactured. i really think it's at the point where Arashi is just shelling out singles for the sake of "because they're popular". you see $$$, rather than just a group of guys with great personalities trying to make it big now. however, i'm not too shocked. it's the type of thing you have to expect when you like idols or learn about idol culture. they were trained to do this type of stuff, you know?

i used to be mad over idols, but now it's more like...i try to weed out the unnecessary aspects. key word: try, lol. like i could care less about the jet, textbooks, whatever. that comes with fame and success. i do care about the music. Arashi's still funny, but i sort of came into the JE fandom for music (yes, i did! it's the most accessible part of their idol career, imo) so once that becomes watery for me, that's where i start being critical.

it's sort of been on & off for me with Arashi the past couple of years. but it's not because they're famous, it's more because of their music. lol.
