I almost got this party feeling, but then she revealed the meaning, I felt sooooo sad, because it's so true ~.~ it's the worst to feel lonely at the party... I hate it :headache makes me wanna cry!!! :vsad

No matter what's the concept, they're horrible.
And no I don't believe in any "deep meaning" when I see them, and especially when I know WHEN they were shot. She just made this photoshoot and then chose to use pics from it to make the covers.

Seriously... I'm sorry if I don't agree with a lot of you but I'm really disappointed.

the whole sad party queen idea is interesting...but sad isn't the vibe that i get when i look at these covers. maybe the larger versions will make the feeling more apparent. :shrug

or maybe i just need "sad" to be a little more obvious. :yconfused

When I saw these covers for the first time, I instantly started to think about gossip magazines. These covers are like one big parody of 'em.

The big colorful fonts are shouting "PARTY QUEEN, AYUMI HAMASAKI" like it was the tittle of the magazine. "13TH ALBUM" like it was some scandalous detail of her life. Then, well, some of these pics do seem kinda unprofessional and casual, like taken in secret. This fits especially well with the Cd Only-cover.

When thinking about this, I began to like these covers even more. Of course it's only little idea of mine and nothing official, but still, I don't see anything too bad in these covers. I think these are clever.
I think they are quite refreshing from the close up face in a studio shots and I like them. If I had that body, I'd show it off :innocent And if this concept is right and it certainly fits with the style and fonts then I love it even more.

As someone mentioned Lady Gaga's album cover...I also hated it but loved the inside. And I like the songs so far. I'm getting drunk to Party queen on Friday. Might make my housemate listen to it too!

It's fine by me, the tabloid parody thing... But why on earth these COVERS has to be a dmn parody? A booklet would have been fine. But covers are important, not a joke....

This makes it even worse. Seriously, if she's supposed to be ~sad, what the hell are we supposed to get from the CD+DVD+DVD cover? There's no way that pose can be interpreted in a non-sexual way, so...what does that say? It almost implies rape.

I don't think she means that she's ever been called a Party Queen. Think of it as a title of a magazine like "ViVi" or "BLENDA".

You know, I wonder if this album is going to be her interpretation of the media's interpretation of her. Like when she'd go out drinking with friends... and this entire album is her own commentary on it?

yeah...i agree. nothing has been said lately about her lately that seems to correspond to this. a better title would be something to do with being untruthful since a lot of people accused her of lying in regards to her marriage/divorce.

imagine these covers with the title of "liar" haha! much better (if she hadn't already used that title) in my opinion. :yes

I speculated on the first thread after the announcement that the title is ironic. These covers and the tracklist seem to support that. I bet it will end up being a "party girl realizes it's not what she really wants and/or falls in love" story. The tracklist seems to transition upbeat->dramatic rock-> ballads. And most of her albums had a storyline to them. The whole reason NEXT LEVEL seemed so messy to many people is that the tracks were arranged in story order, not in an order that sounds best.
The last times she was as "trashy" as this they were somewhat parodies, too, namely Startin' and Sparkle.

But we'll see. Not sure where exactly the magazine thing can fit in there but it somehow work synchronity-esque.

The media's more likely, although I suspect it's avex too because of the hush-hush nature of the split where I think she prefers it all out in the open.

I still don't feel this works for a cover, though. The booklet, sure, you can see the slow unravelling of the Queen, from her finery and outward appearance to an inner turmoil and dissection to a crumpled, lonely wreck.

Or in one cover she looks composed, then starts to crack and is crying on the third...wouldn't that be a better way of expressing this feeling?

Since the aim was to parody a tabloid magazine, I don't think it would have the same effect she wanted.

Well, I actually believe that you will be satisfied this time, because "how beautiful you are" seems to be the only ballade in this album, apart from an interlude before it.:innocent

I wish she would tell us if they're slipcases or not so that we wouldn't have to wait like for Love songs, haha.

imagine the real covers are the same, just without the smiles; more like crying and dried mascara. That would really make a huge difference.

It's rather puzzling since she never has covers that say "XXth album" with a barcode underneath on them, so it seems as though she's trying to hint that they are not genuine.

I didn't realize the picture for the CD+DVD version was the one shown when the Life Style Book was announced, back in September 2011...

To me it looks like she chose this photoshoot even though she had another one for the album covers... And that might also be why she decided to release a photobook and to delay the Life Style Book's release.

but she pretty much confirmed the tabloid idea....so it kinda works with that.

and they already revealed the boxset with the album inside. it'd be a lot of work just to turn around and troll us. :tired

The LIFE STYLE BOOK is still coming out alongside the photobook and Party Queen. Why do you think it's delayed? I'm pretty sure she planned this from the very beginning.

Yeah, I get that, but it just seems a bit fishy to use that concept for the 'true' cover when it'd only been previously used for GUILTY when it was a 'faux fashion magazine' photobook.

If she had a joint on the covers I'd be wayyyy more incline to buy this album, but as it is I'm thinking I'm only going to buy the overseas CD-only if that.
