I refuse to listen any new songs before I get to listen the whole album through. I've even stopped listening to the singles so I have more songs to overplay when Uncontrolled comes out. It's gonna be a pain in the ass but I can make it by listening her other songs, muhahaha. XD

I listened to that single through once and when I was planning to listen every new single through again I read she's gonna release a new album soon so I decided no at once. XD Only Uncontrolled singles I've overplayed are Break It/Get Myself Back and NAKED/Fight Together/Tempest. XD

I am so over Break It >< but I guess it did come out quite a while ago so it wouldve been easy to overplay that single since I pretty much thought it was going to be ages before we ever see the album knowing Namie xD

Too bad Namie's Engrish is apparent (hear the froor XD) But a song wholly in english is a good move.

In the spotlight is allight (lol) but I can't understand half of the song, just like Only you. I don't know, I'm not sure I like all Engrish songs by her. I feel like the songs are missing the "cool" factor of her other songs.

You can, but that doesn't negate the fact that I can't understand what she's saying and that takes away from the song for me. I hope she's not doing it for her international fans, I mean we all became fans without the need sfor songs fully in English.

I can understand everything, there are a few words here or there where I can sense some Engrish creeping in, but for the most part it sounds pretty good.

If she's doing English songs for her International fans, then I think it's a wonderful thing. I think she's trying to include her fans globally in her 20th anniversary and it just looks better for her image.

But I'm more disappointed with the fact that it's just a very...um, here I'd call it "radio friendly" song. It's just there. It's not bad, but it's not great. Very mainstreamy, sounds like two american songs mashed up together.


Personally, I wish people in the world would stop trying to put out songs in english, but it seems to be the way to go.

Her English in "In the Spotlight" isn't as bad as many have said. However, the song sounds like a typical dated American pop/club-banger in my opinion. (If you frequent clubs here in NYC, you would understand where I'm coming from.) The song isn't terrible and it does have that international appeal, it just lacks creativity especially lyrics wise.

You're right. This song sounds a lot like J.Lo's recent hits, but funny to say, I actually enjoy all the similarities to J.Lo. I first saw Namie's So Crazy PV in 2003 and literally thought J.Lo was singing a Japanese song... and that's what made me a fan of Namie haha. I can't explain why.

In the Spotlight could be an actual hit song in the west. Hope they somehow make Namie an international success. She's still got so much potential!

I haven't gotten a chance to listen to IN THE SPOTLIGHT, but ONLY YOU is a nice & soothing song. I couldn't understand her English that much in the verses, but the choruses were pretty solid. She looked so stunning in the video & I thought the scenery was beautiful.

I kind of hope it'll be a little more guitar heavy like Violet Sauce (Spicy). Break It always made me think of Violet Sauce anyway, because though I always loved the original, I felt like the instrumental was lacking that extra kick. So this is a much deserved re-do for Break It :yes

Love Break It, but hoping for a newer, electropop/synth sound or something. How old is the original track? Feels like 2007 or something (though I know its not). :D

I'm hoping that the new version of Break It will include more heavy guitars, like in the last chorus, at the very end of the song. That part is my favorite in the original song ♥

In The Spotlight (TOKYO) is such a ****ing epic song! I love the instrumentation and her vocals. I also adore her English in this song, not a lot of Engrish but accurate English pronunciation. Great! Can't wait to see the PV.

What I really want from Namie though is a sad ballad in full English. I just mean like, happy songs about dancing in the spotlight.. yeah awesome, but I'd rather have a song with meaning in English.

So far the album sounds less unique than her usual music. She always had this Namie-sound on her latest albums and singles, nobody else would have released Break It or NAKED, but In The Spotlight is a J-Lo-esque-everybody-could-release-it-and-nobody-would-care song :/ Not bad just...kinda disappointing. And ONLY YOU is rather pretty but the polar opposite of special as well.

Still excited though.

i agree. There was something really unique in PLAY and PAST<FUTURE. This album has many songs that are more toned down and..mainstream? les Break It and NAKED and S!S!W!D!..

^ For me PLAY is just so so. idk why so many ppl overrated it tbh. Hide n Seek, Full Moon, Violet Sauce and Top Secret are great. But the rest are boring, especially FUNKY TOWN & CAN'T SLEEP, her worst singles ever(imo)

PAST<FUTURE was great thanks to FAST CAR & Defend Love, but I still skip Dr., MY LOVE, LOVE GAME & FIRST TIMER almost the time.

This is by far the first studio-album of her(since STYLE) that i haven't skipped any song, Break It is my top favourite cuz it sounds so 90s-ish, Sit!Stay!Wait!Down! reminds me of her urban/hip-pop music from STYLE n Queen of Hip Pop which I love the most, NAKED is just powerful and YEAH-OH is clearly 'NAMIE AMURO'.

'Love Story' is also my first favourite ballad of her since Wishing On The Same Star, cuz it makes me cry reading the lyrics; surely many ppl may find this song boring, but if u have ever broke up with someone u will think again.

So I can say that I love this album already, it feels like BEST FICTION(alternative ver.) for me.

Dr is like one of her best songs but meh.

I barely liked PAST < FUTURE...and I barely liked any of the singles for this album. Considering we're not getting any new tracks, I don't have huge expectations...but we'll see.

The album is already starting to annoy me though cause the songs are such...like...typical low budget american radio. idk.


It's like, the similarities to the J.Lo song right, except her version is just kind of a watered down version...and J.Lo's version was already typical and watered down to begin with.

I love Dr. but the lyrics are a bit cheesy, when I first heard it I translated it in my mind and loved most of it but then I checked a more reliable translation and it appeared to be very different from what I have thought.

Defend Love single handledly made Past<Future a worthy album

namie's accent is too thick to sing in english, it always irks me.
