2NE1 needs to add more US dates if you ask me. The US is a huge country and two dates on the coasts doesn't account for all the fans in the middle of the country. I think they should most definitely add European dates before adding any more in the US, but I hope they eventually visit Las Vegas or San Diego. That would be amazing! :blove

Hopefully they will soon, they may just be doing a few dates now before the mini album release, because they'll be focusing a lot of time on the promotion for that, so maybe they'll upload more dates afterwards so they can concentrate on the tour fully? Just a random thought D:

^I'm not sure. It would be amazing if they added more US dates, but I don't know if they would stop off in the States, go elsewhere, and then return. It would probably tire them out. : o ( Anything is possible though, especially if there's a demand.
As of right now though, they are asking different fan sites (namely YGladies) to help them sell out both US locations, so I doubt they would add dates if they're having a hard enough time selling out those two locations. If they would reduce the damn price I would totally drive my ass over to NJ and go. -------------- Interesting article though, especially considering what I mentioned above. Voters in Korea just gave 2NE1 49% of the vote amongst other girl groups as the most likely to succeed in America: http://ygladies.com/news/120811artic...eed-in-america I have to agree with this, I think their sound/lyrics/compositions would make them the most likely to succeed in the states. Thanks to Teddy for being bi-lingual/having lived in the states and knowing what America is looking for in terms of music, and thanks to 3/4s of 2NE1 having a fairly good grasp of the English-language, I think they would be the most appealing to American audiences. The only problem is that the market over here probably won't make any rapid and dramatic changes towards being accepting of Asian-music. We've come pretty close with like the Far East Movement as a recent example, but that group mainly produces beats and the majority of them were born here. I still think it will be a long time before Asian music makes waves over here, but I'm really hoping that YG and 2NE1 in general prove me wrong. Especially since Papa YG is ridiculously smart and knows what he's doing. His recent move to hold auditions in America for American acts in his company (of ANY race) was genius. If he can establish some American acts in his company and make them big, or semi-big then he can promote his already-established groups from within and get their names out there too. Alright, I apologize for this mostly unnecessary analysis lol. |
^I think it is partially the price that's keeping them from selling out. I spent A LOT for me & my 2 roommates to get tickets as well as get the transportation to get down to the US for the show. However I still talk to A LOT of people that would love to go but cant afford the
ticket prices. -_- Other thing I'd like to add concerning the market over here in North America is I also think image and self presentation are part of it. You'd need to act American. It seems like many here don't understand many of the Asian cultures and just don't really care to learn. Very sad, but it seems true. |
The timing of the two US dates is bad as well. I would've been more than willing to drive to Los Angeles to see 2NE1 a few weeks ago, but August 24 is during the first week of school for me and I'll be dropped from my classes if I ditch first week. :(

^The only new song on it is "Scream". Then just the cover of Madonna's "Like A Virgin". All the other songs are Japanese versions of the original Korean songs. I personally dont see much of a point. I personally just digitally downloaded "Scream" and that song they did with m-flo "She's So (Outta Control)".

I have to say, I'm really surprised they didn't win on any of their music show performances, especially the way 'I Love You' has been performing on the charts. They reached an all-kill with the single. In this performance, CL sounds pretty strained, but I know they've been reporting that Minzy and Bom lost their voices recently due to all of the performances and what not. Apparently netizens have been commenting on Dara's flinstones hair, LOL. --------------------------- Also, 2NE1 made a guest appearance at Psy's sold-out concert. 30,000 fans attended the concert, including Papa YG and SM's BoA. I think will.i.am's starting by giving out a little taste of what the girls can do. Anyways, I think rushing it too much isnt a good idea as we all know how hard the American market is to crack. Plus i noticed Minzy's English still needs work. I'm sure they're planning it all and taking their time with it. Right now, I'm curious to see how well this new album of his will do. Might say a little towards what America will think of the girls as well.

It's kind of weird, because their faces are covered and it's hard to see them because it's dark. Plus, the CM places them in Tokyo, when it would make more sense for them to be in Seoul. Mine wasnt asked either. Also i was dissapointed when CL asks the host girl to translate the Korean question for Minzy into English so the international fans can understand. She tells us what the question is as a translation, but then the host & Minzy keep going in Korean and the host never translates their little replies to it. So I don't know the answer to the question. -_-

Yeah it was sort of an awkward interview... I was hoping they'd get a fun Korean and English- speaking interviewer! The interviewer wasn't that bad, but it was still a little uncomfortable!

^She wasn't rude so much as she didn't really know a lot about 2NE1 (and it was apparent). I guess if she was rude anywhere it was in the fact that she kept asking her own questions and not taking the fans'.
But I agree with the general sentiment - it was a really awkward interview. CL was amazing for continuing to answer so many questions, Dara has now made me believe that she speaks/knows English better than Bom (and it was sooo refreshing to hear her speak English), Minzy was sooo cute when she used the few English words that she did, and Bom just seemed really tired. I love Bom, so I don't know what was up with her. Maybe she hasn't been sleeping well due to all the travelling. Actually she suffers from "lymph node inflammation" which causes various muscles under her skin to swell up. This happens in her face, and occasionally in her wrists and feet. Quote:

I'm no expert, so I'm not going to say it's untrue, but from the pictures I've seen, those diagnosed with the disease seem to have a bulge somewhere on their body rather than a somewhat round swelling around one particular part, like the face in Bom's case. I've always thought her face was strange. Sometimes her features seem more defined, so it looks as though it's either due to an unbalanced diet or an allergy that causes her face to swell up. Or surgery, which they could be trying to keep away from the public's eye by passing it off as a disease. I might be wrong, but I'm not in the wrong to be sceptical about it.

It's true that Bom does have that disease, but I honestly think this is a case where they over-did Bom's lip make-up in the VIBE photos. As we all know, this frequently happens to Ayu as well, and both women can end up having fish-lips in photos thanks to their stylists.
Actually, overall, imo, I think they just over-did Bom's make-up in general for VIBE, which made her look somewhat plastic-y. Only thing I find is Bom is so quiet when she speaks off-stage. Seems so sweetly shy. I had to turn my speakers up a little to be sure I heard her properly. |

That English interview was cute. I'd like to hear Dara and Minzy speak more though, but obviously their English isn't as good as CL and Bom's.
And congrats on selling out their LA concert! That's so amazing. I just hope they hurry up and debut in America. It's been how many years now since they announced they would? As for Bom's face: I always thought it was just a lot of plastic surgery. I still do, but maybe it's combined with that illness? She does look rather odd sometimes. That's too bad she has that though. Poor thing :( |
All the plastic surgery is pretty obvious, but hey, she looks beautiful.. She does not need it anymore though.. I never knew about the illnes either,but I though that sometimes her face does look swollen.

This is sort of random, but I just bought To Anyone and I was wondering; is track six called Ah-Yah-Yah or Love is Ouch? The 2NE1 website says it's called Ah-Yah-Yah.

^^On the back of the "To Anyone" album case (and in the booklet too), the song title is written in Hangul as "사랑은 아야야", which is romanized as "Sarangeun Ayaya", but which is translated to English as "Love Is Ouch."
KPop is just weird about song titles sometimes and a song can be referred to by many different names which can all be considered "official" in some way. I'm pretty sure it's done to make KPop more accessible to international fans, so just go with whatever you prefer. |
