Heh, actually I'm not sure if I want her to be #1 or not, I haven't heard Kumizon's or KinKi Kids' single so yeah.
And in my original post I was referring more to the sales. At this point it's safe to say that on that week, they'll most likely get the #1 spot (unless B'z or Misuchiru decide to release :|), but... maybe the people who go to the music store see Kumi's single and think "Oh, what the heck," and purchase it and voila! Best selling female single of the year by a real singer with a real name. :luv2

I was speaking about the dark hair from Bold&Delicious era. That makes her look older without the help of photoshop/make up.

I think that hair was a wig.

Judging from the lengths that it was from HEAVEN -> B&D -> Startin' -> BLUE BIRD.. it looks like for the darker (m)u style, they chose to give her a large wig [but her hair was dark underneath, a la rainy day?]

I don't really know about Startin' though... was that her real hair? I think it was..

But the Bold&Delicious era WAS late 2005 XD; I thought it aged her somewhat, but not physically...more mentally. It didn't make her seem older, but wiser :)

Anything's still better than that horrid hay-like blonde hair in February-March 2007 though.

IMO, her worst hairstyle was when it was parted down the middle with no bangs..

It was definitely the style that made her look less Japanese in the eyes of Americans.. x.x

I hope this rock tune will be more along the lines of "game" or "alterna" rather than the weaker rock songs like "fated" and such.

IMO, fated was not destined to be a heavy rock song.. it was more of a heavy ballad than anything. :\

It was a kind of a rock ballad, not a rock song or heavy rock, I suppose tha the new single's rock will be like 1 LOVE, kiss o' kill, STEP you rock thingies.

I loved the rapping part in "Fly high". I want more rapping! (As long as the song isn't urban-like.) That's why I'd love for Ayu to sing something like HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR's "Feel Like Dance". In general, the fans like the rapping. People got so excited when they thought the rapping was done by Ayu also!

I consider "fated" as a mid-tempo rock song. I loooove Ayu's mid-tempo rock songs. :luv2 Like "Heartplace" & "It was". But I hope we get a happier rock tune like "Humming 7/4" & "independent".

Fly high is my most favorite song by ayu ^_^ not because of the rap I just LOVE this song on all earth.

Yeah, that's what I thought of fated, too; that's why I was all "hmm" at CDJapan trying to call it a "mid-tempo rock tune", when it was more on the ballad side than on the rock side. I'd love another "kiss o' kill"-esque rock song though.

I really wouldn't consider that "rap"; people tend to associate talking quickly with rap, but I think there's a fundamental underlying beat in rapping. Most often rappers DO follow rhythm/meter (iambic pentameter, etc) associated with poetry in their rap; one example is Ludacris's "Roll Out".

Ayu's singing in Ladies Night is a lot more electronic...I think it was a normal speed at first, but it was electronically enhanced and sped up while it was distorted to match the dark pop feel of the song.

I'd love to see some middle-8 breakdown or something with this jazzy feel because the sleeveless blouse and hat just require some sort of a dance routine.
But yeah. :| I just hope the songs are great.

Hmm yeah I guess it didn't look TOO bad when she styled it in different ways--like when she put it into a bun for her "part of Me" peformances during the AT07--it looked nice then :) I guess styling has to do with the aging for her dark hair too...she did look a tad older when her dark brown hair was curly vs. pin straight XD

And urg yes I dislike seeing orange hair on Ayu (or anyone for that matter) XD People with naturally black hair who want to go blonde need to BLEACH their hair first to truly go blonde--otherwise the blonde hair will just make their hair orange D:

I think the problem was that she was too busy to use emulsifies and taking care of her hair. Blonde is a bit tricky to mantain in a healthy colour which doesn't go to an ugly orangeish direction.

I want Ayu to write some dark, angsty lyrics. Something like Duty or Endless sorrow.

Well to me Endless Sorrow STARTED out angsty and without hope but ultimately the song is an uplifting one with a positive message :) That, y'know, despite adversity you can still live your life.

I think she might do some dark stuff with this single, but I don't think that she'll go to the level of "I am../ASFX" lyrics.

Perhaps we'll see a new side of Ayu's lyrics?

I find the arrangements of Endless Sorrow much more angsty than the lyrics itself, it's one of her best arranged songs IMO BTW.

To me the arrangements are even more important. BOth glitter and fated had good arrangements, but I feel like they need the last top of "swungh" in the melody and arrangements to grasp me like my favourite ayu songs; STEP you, M, moments, I think the last one may have been JEWEL.

I want something edgy and fresh, but still ayu. Something that is beautiful, but a little twisted. Something that makes me cry or laugh when I hear it the first time.
