spookshow 3rd June 2008 03:03 PM

don't know if this has been mentioned, but i found some studio edits of live versions of 4minutes, music and candy shop -- and i must say, candy shop is amazing! i can so imagine it live!

Meat Pao 5th June 2008 10:35 AM

suzaku 6th June 2008 01:17 AM

ALARM 7th June 2008 09:02 AM

Kobayashiwoof 14th June 2008 09:54 AM

I saw the Japanese edition of Hard Candy in a local cd store for $45AUD :| lol

And I also saw the Limited Box Edition for $60. I might get it next month

Ayumi27 24th June 2008 09:16 PM

The limited box edition is great, i got it a few weeks ago, with the 4 Minutes maxi single (remixes are good)

Vinylfantasy 14th August 2008 12:15 AM

Hello my madgelings, sorry I've been away from AHS for so long! I really needed a break from the boards and so I decided to take a bow. As you know, Sticky & Sweet Tour rehearsals are well underway and a pretty much final setlist is out as well as a few costume sketches.

MANY SPOILERS after this point! Don't blame me if you're waiting until the actual show. :laugh

Setlist and descriptions
Spoiler:
Intro/Candy Shop
The show opener, Candy Shop, has now a longer intro compared to the promo tour version. A musical intro a la Drowned World Tour, sounding very cinematic, like the opening titles of a blockbuster movie, starting with the 4 minutes' "tick tock" with bits and pieces of songs from Hard Candy (4 Minutes, Give It 2 Me, Beat Goes On) that we will be hearing later in the show fades into the "C-A-N-D-Y" intro from the promo tour.

Beat Goes On
A standard album version of the song beginning after the Pharrel rap at the end of Candy Shop. Pharrel and Kanye West are doing their thing on video as well.

Human Nature
Britney will appear on video while Madonna sings the song on stage with her guitar. The idea of the Mash Up with Gimme More has been scrapped but Britney's new signature phrase "It's Britney *****" is included once at the end of the song.

Vogue
Played on a new instrumental track based on her 2008 hit 4 Minutes, this version of Vogue also includes a music sample of Nelly Furtado/Timbaland's Give It To Me during the whole song. An amazing re-invention!

Video Interlude - Die Another Day
The first video interlude, a fast paced and speeded up version of the James Bond theme Die Another Day, features exclusive new footage of Madonna as a boxeur, from the brand new photoshoot by Tom Munro for the Tour Book.

Into The Groove
Into The Groove, that contains a small sample of Madonna's Jump, sees Madonna jumping rope and doing a little bit of pole dancing. The song is delivered using musical parts of the dance hit "Toop Toop" by Cassius.

Heartbeat
A nice album version of this great new song by Madonna and Pharrel.

Borderline
The most vintage song in the show has been totally recreated and turned into a rocky/ska version. Great rock guitars for the most surprising re-invention!

She's Not Me
As almost all Hard Candy song this one too is presented in it's album version incarnation. At one time Madonna reportedly shouts the phrase "I Know I Can Do It Better" in a similar way she did with "Do you think I'm satisfied" in RIT's American Life.

Music
Known as the Fedde Le Grande mix, the Sticky & Sweet tour version of Music starts with a sample of Last Night A DeeJay Saved My Life by Indeep.

Video Interlude - Rain/Here Comes The Rain Again
The third video interludes mashes up bit's of Madonna's Rain with Eurythmics' Here Comes The Rain Again, using Eurythmics' music track.

Devil Wouldn't Recognize You
Originally supposed to play piano herself on this one, now Madonna appears on stage on top of it. The song is the album version.

Spanish Lesson
Album version here too but nicely extended near the end, with the use of Spanish tap dancing and a little hint to Mariachi music thrown in there as well.

Miles Away
The great ballad version with guitar we already saw at the promo tour.

La Isla Bonita/Lela Pala Tute
The Live Earth version of La Isla Bonita is being presented on the new tour. Mixed with Romani song Lele Pala Tute and some great fun on stage. Gogol Bordello will make some special appearances on some of the tour dates.

Doli Doli
It's a live interlude not sung by Madonna and it's a Romani/Gyspyy folk song

You Must Love Me
Madonna is back on stage to close the section with a fierce rendition of the Academy Award winning song "You Must Love Me" by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber. Tzigani/Gypsy violins and accordion make of this song an unforgettable and emotional moment of the show.

Video Interlude - Get Stupid
Third interlude a la "Sorry" in "Confession Tour". It's about saving our planet and saving it NOW. It uses parts of various songs from Hard Candy. A vocoded "Who Is The Master and Who Is The Slave" (From Voices), "Get Stupid" (From Give It 2 Me), "The Time Is Now" and "You don't have the luxury of time" (from Beat Goes On) and the "Tick Tock" from "4 Minutes".

4 Minutes
A great version very similar to the promo tour.

Like A Prayer
The song, that replaces Impressive Instant is another Mash Up, delivered using musical parts of the 1992 dance hit by Felix "Don't You Want Me".

Ray Of Light
Very similar to the Confessions Tour version with Madonna playing her rock guitar!

Hung Up
The Rock Version you heard at the promo tour has been confirmed for this tour as well.

Give It To Me
Performed on a music track slightly different from the album version, but it's not one of the remixes. It has an extended ending on which fans are invited to shout: Give It 2 Me!

A few costume sketches

Riccardo Tisci commented about his collaboration with Madonna:

"I feel incredibly fortunate to have been given the opportunity to offer the world of Givenchy Haute Couture to Madonna the Icon, the Artist, the Woman for whom I have so much respect and admiration."

Costume designer Arianne Phillips has lasted 11 years, from the singer's Pre-Raphaelite look for "Ray of Light" to the urban cowgirl of "Music" to the Patty Hearst look of "American Life" and on and on and on. In other words, measured in Madonna time, Phillips is roughly 77 years old.

Still, La Ciccone's upcoming "Sticky and Sweet" tour has had its own unique challenges for her longtime stylist. "Normally we prep in April and May, and open in June," says Phillips. "This time, the tour begins in August. It's a nightmare. Everyone in Italy and France is on a beach sunning themselves."

Thankfully, everyone is a bit of an exaggeration, as Phillips goes on to detail a mile-long list of willing collaborators and everything they've designed for the trek, which begins Aug. 23 in Cardiff, Wales, and comes to the United States in early October. Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci designed two outfits, while Tom Ford provided bespoke suits for the band. Three pairs of shoes have been custom-made by Miu Miu, there are thigh-high boots courtesy of Stella McCartney, sunglasses from Moschino, and other outfits and odds and ends from Yves Saint Laurent, Roberto Cavalli, and Jeremy Scott.

Like her shows in the past, this tour will be divided into four sections. The first references gangsta pimp and Art Deco with Givenchy costumes. This, it would seem, is Madonna's current take on her longest-running fashion inspiration -- the dominatrix. "It's a theme that runs throughout her career" Phillips says. "She's not afraid of being hard." The second section has been termed "Old School," and harkens back to Madonna's early days in New York, with Scott's outfit and some vintage prints from Keith Haring, the late graffiti artist and friend of Madonna who died of AIDS in 1990. "He and Madonna were friends. If her were alive, it would be his 50th birthday as well. So I thought, 'What if we revisited that?'" Afterward, there's a gypsy section with more costumes from Givenchy. "Riccardo's a new young talent. If you look at Madonna's history with fashion, that makes him an obvious choice." Finally, there's a futuristic rave section with lots of Japanese influences.

And while The New York Times complained recently about Madonna's style choices, Phillips says getting older has had little effect on her sense of fashion adventure. "She always wants to push the envelope. There are no vanity considerations based on her age." As Phillips adds seconds later, "She looks good in everything."

A lot of her outfits lately remind me of the Causing A Commotion/Where's The Party section of the Blond Ambition Tour. Maybe it's just me but who knows.

Ayumi27 14th August 2008 02:30 AM

They reminded me to the first act of the BAT too! And the pink one to the COADF years. Can't wait until 23/08. The tour will be amazing, like always

Chandrachan 15th August 2008 01:42 AM

I really love "Give it to me" it's a great song

I have too, it's so tempting to buy because I love Ring My Bell, but I can't justify paying that much. It'd be better to buy it from CDjapan for $24 or however much it is there but I hate having to use the credit card. I remember when WE were the ones that used to get the bonus tracks. But I'm going on a bit.

I'm liking Hard Candy a lot more than COAD, Give It 2 Me, Miles Away and Beat Goes On are all really high on my iTunes most played list.

Vinylfantasy 16th August 2008 12:51 AM

Some super LQ audio clips from today's rehearsal can be found here. :) It's the first chunk of the tour.

I'm just BURSTING with anticipation! :shimmy

Vinylfantasy 16th August 2008 02:06 AM

Yeah true, but I still have to wait until the end of October to see her in the flesh. It seems like an eternity. :laugh

Ayumi27 16th August 2008 03:04 AM

Well, at least you're seen her live!!! I'm hoping she comes to South America again some day... You're going to Chicago or Canada?

Vinylfantasy 16th August 2008 03:42 AM

The final eight shows of the tour are supposed to be in South America. Off the top of my head there are two in Brazil and the tickets should be on sale soon. I'll look into the details for you and post them. I plan on seeing her in Canada (Vancouver, BC to be more specific). :)

Also if you guys don't have your tickets for Boston yet, they've added a second show to go on sale soon. Don't miss out! I think the sale starts on the 25th or something like that.

Ayumi27 16th August 2008 06:05 PM

There are suppoused dates in Argentina, Brazil and Chile, but nothing confirmed yet

Miku 16th August 2008 06:10 PM

Happy B-Day Maddona!

Cyria 17th August 2008 08:23 PM

Happy 50th Birthday! I hope she'll be like Tina Turner and continue being awesome for many more years.

criminal 17th August 2008 08:36 PM

Speaking of her, I just saw an Oprah episode with her and Cher. I certainly hope Madonna can pull it off up to her seventies, just like Tina.

Happy birthday!

Do you mean like The Immaculate Collection? If so, GHV2 just uses the regular album versions and radio edits, there's no remixing.

prussian blue 19th August 2008 10:40 AM

^yap, i saw it is radio edit, does that mean, it will be different from the album version?

In most cases it means they're slightly shorter and some of the swearing has been removed, but the overall sound is the same as the album versions.

prussian blue 19th August 2008 04:58 PM

swearing... okay

i got the meaning

But watch out, because there are two GHV2 albums, completely different. One (GHV2), is the compilation of her 90's hits, but there's a GHV2 Remixed or something like that, which contains full remixes of the songs

Partino 20th August 2008 12:15 AM

the "normal" version
the "remixed" version and

Oh, you are actually RIGHT, but the first two are albums, while the "megamix" was a promo single distributed to some selected clubs and DJ's in the US with 2 mixes of all the tracks together. One was made by Thunderpuss and is great :D

cosmeticmusic 20th August 2008 01:33 AM

I love me some Madonna. She's such an inspiring singer, rich and full of imagination. Her songs are very full-sounding, and she never disappoints with something completely. I even liked most of Hard Candy. I love how each of her albums try something new with it's overrall sound. My favorite album is Ray of Light. Every song on that album is beautiful. I also have a fondness for Erotica, Bedtime Stories, Music, American Life, yeah...pretty much all of her albums while I'm at it. :D

I also love how she doesn't give a damn about what people think about her. A lot of people hate her now because she's officially 50 years old and flaunting her half naked body still, as in the Give It 2 Me video. I could understand if she was wrinkly and flabby, but Madonna is beautiful, even after all these years. Hell, she looks better than most 19 year olds do. So why NOT flaunt her body?

I wonder what they're going to do with her next greatest hits album. Are they going to remix them like Immaculate? Or just stick radio edits and album versions on there? I hope not. I like it when they remix them. It make the album have more value if you're getting something different.

Anyways, I WAS going to see her in concert, but plans change. I'm severely mad right now. I wanted to see Madonna! She's like, so AWESOME!~ I wanted to see her in person. :(

Okay, I'm done ranting about how great this pop icon is. Take it away, next poster.

Haha, couldn't agree more about her sex appeal, I mean, she's 50 and still has something to show us. And she looks like she's 30'something...

About a following compilation album, there are many rumors about a release to celebrate her 50th birthday, with some of her most sucessful tracks on 3 CD's, one for each decade, with new songs too... But I wish she released another best album soon.

And were you planning to go to her new Sticky & Sweet Tour? Because i'm waiting on her to confirm South American dates... I was hoping to go to NYC, but i have classes on that date :headache

cosmeticmusic 20th August 2008 01:55 AM

Yeah, I was planning to see Sticky & Sweet. GOD, I wanted to go so badly, I could scream. Madonna...I mean, c'mon, MADONNA. Who WOULDN'T want to see MADONNA in concert?! That would be a very memorable experience for me!

About those compilation rumors, that sounds a lot like A COMPLETE, with the three discs, LOL. M COMPLETE, perhaps? :P

I have a question for you guys here. What kind of musical direction do you want to see Her Royal Madgesty go to next? Let's see, she's covered experimental pop (Ray of Light), funky club pop (Music), electronica pop (American Life), dance (Confessions on a Dance Floor), and now hip hop - pop (Hard Candy; I count R&B under Bedtime Stories). Where would YOU like to see Madonna go next?!

Hey! I'm just starting to enjoy Hard Candy, give me time! I wish she makes a more experimental dance album next, with tracks like Nobody Knows Me from AL or Impressive Instant from Music. I'd love to see a rock album too... But we are accostumed to pop haha.

M Complete sound good, by the way! But to cover ALL her singles, she will need a few more CD's :thud

I prefer she releases a compilation with the best since American Life to Hard Candy with 2 or 3 new tracks first

By the way, why is the trailer in Spanish? I mean, the people in the trailer spoke English for a few parts, but the rest was in Spanish! Why?

I really lucked out, this is the first tour that she's been this close to me since Who's That Girl back in '87. I would have had to bust my butt twice as hard to afford to travel on top of my tickets.

There's a new site up for Sticky & Sweet through Madonna.com! Be sure you check out M's message at the bottom of the page. :)

Vinylfantasy 23rd August 2008 08:03 PM

Drowned Madonna has posted some info about the S&S stage:

- there are 2 huge crystal (M) on the sides
- 2 screens on the side as well
- 2 or 3 backdrop screens but one of them is rounded like Confessions
- a short catwalk
- pink lights before the show begins

You can view the entire tour program here. Steven Klein did an amazing job as usual. It's brilliant!

Madonna is having a show in Buenos Aires, Argentina, saturday 6th of December, 100% confirmed by her website tickets.madonna.com!!!! And the tickets are not THAT expensive for once in a lifetime. The VIP ones cost around USD 240 including delivery to wherever you live in Argentina or Uruguay. And the cheapest ones around USD 30, but it's a 80,000-seater stadium, so you would be FAR from Madonna

I was on the gym today and the radio was playing really old songs from the 80's. Then they played this song and I thought "Is this madonna?" I have all of her albums (except the EVITA soundtrack), but I had never heard that song. I memorized two sentences from the lyrics and googled it when I arrived home LOL

Not madonna, but the simillarity of vocals and arrangements freaks me out ahahhaha

I used to hear that song all the time at one of my past jobs! :laugh Her voice does sound a lot like Madonna's, especially from her pre-fame material.

To answer you guys wondering about the S&S tour requests, I believe she's only done Express Yourself up until her most recent performance in New Jersey. (she did Open Your Heart)

She said the best line during Hung Up right before the feedback solo:

“This is the sound of Sarah Palin’s husband’s snowmobile when it won’t start.” (She then launched into the guitar solo.)

:laugh :laugh :laugh

I had a couple pleasantly random Madonna encounters today! I was having lunch with someone and I saw this woman reading a newspaper (I think it was the New York Times) and there was a big article about the Sticky & Sweet Tour. I was looking over her shoulder and all of a sudden this caught my eye:

http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/k...alencia/01.jpg

Pretty sweet.

This dude also zoomed past me while I was walking in downtown Seattle and he was blasting Jump. I gave him two big thumbs up! :D

I don't need to see this woman's crotch any more.

I thought she was supposed to be all about her concerts? Cuz that seriously looks cheap and tacky.

ddd: You've made it pretty clear that you are not fond of Madonna so why do you continue to troll her threads? Your negative comments are neither required nor desired so I suggest that you please take them elsewhere. They are not adding anything to our discussion.

I forgot to mention in my last post, Miles Away is the next single off Hard Candy.

Right, tell that to my copy of Hard Candy. Y'know, it is possible to be a Madonna fan without worshiping her and loving every single thing she does. Real fans are able to criticize and poke fun.

Melrose 10th October 2008 12:10 AM

Hi hi : D

I just read something in my Veronica Magazine about Madonna lol

Its not exactly positive but I dunno where else to post this

There was this guy singer who is now pretty famous in the Netherlands but some time ago wasn't
And he met Steven Williams or something like that and Madonna

Then he said to Madonna he loved meeting her, and she just looked at him and said 'And what do you do?', and he said 'I want to become a singer', and then she ignored him and looked away lol. But Steven Williams was kind and asked questions, etc.

I just thought it was funny to read a true story (as far as what he tells is true, of course, but I see no reason to lie) of how I always thought she was like in rl.

That having said, those tour pics are really lol. XD I wonder what her crotch looks like by now without the clothes on. o.O I dunno, do women get plastic cirgury for that part? o.o

Evolution7/4 10th October 2008 12:48 AM

I have lost all respect for Madonna after seeing a clip from one of her concerts last night on the news. She is vulgar and completly immature (and no it has nothing to do with her provactive gestures).

dddaiyamondo 10th October 2008 12:51 AM

^I saw it too... I think she's out of touch with the world from being so famous for so long. Very vulgar and nasty! I also read this and found it very rude!:

Quote:

Swedish pop sensation Robyn was banned from approaching Madonna during her Sticky and Sweet tour, despite appearing as a supporting act.

The singer claims she was told by Madonna's representatives not to approach the star or take photos during the European leg of her tour.

She tells a Swedish newspaper, "I hadn't expected any glamour, but it's strange that they assume that the first thing you're gonna do is run after Madonna and ask for an autograph."

ImpactBreaker 10th October 2008 01:22 AM

I wonder what was so nasty though LOL

Anyway, Robyn just needs o face reality. It was not Madonna's fault, her representatives DID it, not her. Also, she has to know her place. :)

I don't want to get into it because its a very sensitive subject that no message board needs to get into a discussion about because it will only lead into mass ugliness.

I love the single cover!!! I want to make that my wallpaper lol.

Vinylfantasy 10th October 2008 06:49 AM

She hasn't done anything too controversial this tour, I've been keeping up with the footage and the worst I've seen is her comments about Sarah Palin which are pretty funny. Nothing new here folks, she's still swearing like a sailor and humping things.

Here are some of my favorite pics from the NJ concert.

bondingo 10th October 2008 06:59 AM

She actually looks fabulous in those pics. I'm probably buying this tour if they release it on DVD.

Actually Madonna isn't such a sweety either IMO so it wouldn't surprise me if she did make that decision.

I just read the comment that she made to the pope in Rome. o.O That's SO RUDE! omg. But I love how the pope ignored her. I reckon that must have pissed her off.

But I guess her rude behavior appeals to a lot of people..

Meat Pao 10th October 2008 02:06 PM

The tour pictures look amazing. I realised now that the set actually looks quite cool. So getting this if it's going to be released as a Live album / DVD.

Rapper Williams joins Madonna gig

Rap star Pharrell Williams has made a surprise appearance with Madonna in a New York date on her world tour.
Williams, who co-produced and sang on Madonna's Hard Candy album earlier this year, joined her on stage during her final song of the show - Give It 2 Me.
Madonna also continued her recent attacks on Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin.
Playing a screeching note on her guitar, she said: 'This is the sound of Sarah Palin thinking.'
After singing an a capella version of her 1989 hit Express Yourself, she told the crowd: 'I'd like to express myself to Sarah Palin right now.'
She also threw condoms into the crowd at Madison Square Garden, saying that they promoted safe sex as they had a picture of Mrs Palin on them.
Pharrell Williams has appeared on the Sticky and Sweet tour before, but only in video form.
During previous dates, he and Madonna's other recent collaborators - Justin Timberlake, Kanye West and Britney Spears - have 'performed' in the show as lifesize images on moving video walls.
At the New York show - the 21st date on the four-month world tour - there was a more tender moment as Madonna dedicated a song to her eldest daughter Lourdes to mark her 12th birthday.
She performed You Must Love Me, which she originally sang when she starred in the 1996 movie adaptation of the hit musical Evita. Madonna told the crowd: 'My beautiful Lola is 12 today but when I first sang this song she was growing inside me.'

'I Am Because We Are' premiere in France

I AM BECAUSE WE ARE, the extraordinary documentary film from director Nathan Rissman and writer/producer Madonna, makes its next festival stop in France.

Cinema Verite’s 2nd International Rendezvous for Socially Conscious Cinema will host I AM BECAUSE WE ARE on Sunday October 12th in Paris. The event is a public platform designed to bring together prominent film-makers, politicians, and opinion leaders to address social issues and generate pressure for growing societal concerns through the medium of film.

The Paris screening of I AM BECAUSE WE ARE will be introduced by Raising Malawi Executive Director Philippe van den Bossche and Raising Malawi Trust Chairman Victoria Keelan.

Malawi is a nation in crisis. Right now, more than one million parentless children languish in Malawi’s streets, villages, and orphanages without proper food, shelter, education, and seemingly without hope.
I AM BECAUSE WE ARE takes an unflinching look beyond these devastating statistics at the desperate lives of Malawian’s most vulnerable citizens, its children. The film asks hard questions, but also explores the real possibility of lasting solutions to Malawi’s humanitarian crisis. Some of the world’s brightest and most compassionate social activists, including Archbishop Desmond Tutu, President Bill Clinton, and Dr. Jeffrey Sachs, offer their insight on how a worldwide population is connected to, and ultimately responsible for, ending suffering in the developing world.

I AM BECAUSE WE ARE director Nathan Rissman depicts a country of contrasts. Malawi’s extraordinary beauty and the exuberance of its people are juxtaposed with the horrors of crushing poverty and deadly disease. Madonna’s narration, inspired by her own journal entries, illuminates a very personal journey into the nation known as the ‘warm heart of Africa’.

The film goes quite beyond simply bearing witness to difficulties in the developing world. It is a call to action under the banner of umuntu – we are all inextricably linked and, rich or poor, share a common fate. I am because we are.

After moving audiences at its New York premiere, at Cannes, and in Traverse City, Michigan, I AM BECAUSE WE ARE will inspire another rapt audience this month at the Cinema La Bastille in Paris.

Robyn on Madonna

"Seeing that a lot has been reported about my experience of being on tour with Madonna in the press, I feel like I have to tell it like it is! So with my own words, here I go:

I got a chance to go on tour with Madonna in Europe and like any one who's been a fan of her since the age of ten I was super exited. Contrary to what you might have read elsewhere its been FUN! I've played to Madonna's audience in eleven different cities, all of which have received us well even though I was only the opening act. Me and my band got to know Madonna's production team and they were very helpful. Madonna's management was super cool and we hung out with the band and dancers and had a lot of fun with them. When I met her at the end of the tour she was really cool and natural. I got a chance to thank her for putting me on and she even told me she was a fan! It was a very special moment i will never forget.

When I arrived on the first day of the tour I was surprised by the tight security that involved us as well. It took a couple of days to find my place on this big adventure but the tour has been a once in a lifetime experience. I have gotten the rare opportunity to see an enormous production from the inside and get the chance to perform in front of tens of thousands of people at every show.

In one interview I was asked if I wanted a career like Madonnas and I said no, my worst nightmare would be trying to be a Madonna. She's an icon and a pioneer, but only Madonna can be Madonna. It would be sad to try to copy her model. Times are different nowadays as well. Even if I tried, it would be hard to build what she has achieved in the climate of the music industry today. I want to be me and work from my own small independent record company.

I want to be left alone in my creative process. I imagine she has lots and lots of people telling her things. Every one watches her every move. Obviously she can cope with that, but for me that pressure would be a burden. Too many other people have cracked under much less pressure in the music world and as a woman it's even harder to stay at the top. The peer pressure, fashion mags and media celebrate youth, beauty and the new in females and most people are lucky to stay around for 5 years. I learned that next to the president of the United States of America, Madonna must be the most famous person on earth whose every little move is watched by millions and a complete security state is surrounding her!

I´m from a little country called Sweden where even though a lot of people know me here, I still can go to the store and buy milk in my underwear. And I would love to keep that for me.

But who am I to judge her? Watching her on stage during the tour I could tell that she was really enjoying herself. She is probably doing exactly what she wants to do and that´s why she is so inspiring. I want to be like that as well, I want to be myself."
